This review is well overdue and belated... but they say "better late than never", right?!I have been coming to Salon Del Mar inside the Hilton Santa Barbara Beachfront Resort (previously Fess Parker) for just over 2 years. Jakob has been my stylist from day one and is just as much of a perfectionist as myself. Although my haircut could take 10 minutes anywhere else, he takes the extra time with each clip of his scissors to make my hair just perfect. Over time, he has earned my trust to restyle my hair--not an easy feat! During my appointments we tend to be the free entertainment for the rest of the salon given our endless bickering and chuckling. However, when I need a break from it all, I simply look out the large salon windows at the gorgeous ocean view with the Channel Islands in the background. Nonetheless, Jakob is super talented and remains still affordable in comparison to other salons throughout Santa Barbara/Montecito.All the stylists at Salon del Mar are sweet and fun to carry on conversations with--Shout-out to Sherry the owner, Kara and Annie.When I have an appointment, I technically kill three birds with one stone because:- I can drink a glass of wine during my cut- I can charge my electric/EV car in the hotel lot for free (parking validation available)- I receive an amazing style, shampoo/condition and cutEvery time I leave here all beautified, my inner diva feels the need to sing Toderick Hall's song "Nails, Hair, Hips, Heels!" I waited way too long to book an appointment for a hairstylist on my wedding day (who knew you had to do that 3+ months in advance. ..lol) but luckily Salon Del Mar still had availability on my date. I did not do a hair trial so I was a bit nervous that morning but the stylist was super helpful and very professional. I showed her some pictures of the type of up-do I was thinking and as she went she would ask if I would rather have option A or B when it came to some of the smaller details. I LOVED how my hair turned out for the wedding and it lasted perfectly all day. I had my hair done at noon and when I took it out around 1am it still looked surprisingly good (also despite the entire wedding being outdoors and taking wedding party pictures on the bluffs where it was windy!). From beginning to end our (my daughters and my) experience was wonderful. Making an appointment and getting to the salon was easy and pleasant. My daughter, who is Black and Latina, has a lot of beautiful curls/coils and it is difficult to find a stylist that is patient and knowledgeable. Kara Jacobs is very familiar and comfortable with my daughters hair type and with a quick cut was able to reshape my daughters hair, bringing new life to it. She also flat-ironed  her hair and my daughter was able to keep the style up for a over a week.Over the past five years my daughter has learned to care for and manage her curls but I would trust Kara if they were in need of detangling and repair as they've been in the past.I highly recommend Kara to care for your curls! Sherry is the BEST! I have only ever had my hair done by her and plan on only ever having her do my hair. The salon is super cute and clean and has the most beautiful view of the ocean! I wasn't able to make my hair appointment at home before we left for 7 weeks vacation.  I REALLY hate getting my hair done, (sitting for hours - ) and having to  do anything with my hair. my stylist at home knows me and is so good about making sure whatever she does is simple and no fuss. Needless to say having to go to someone else was a little stressful. However, Sienna was incredible. She was helpful and didn't bat an eye regarding all of (or lack there of) my hair care. She is not only a fabulous stylist, she's a beautiful young woman inside and out. I was the last appointment of the day so we were the only two in the salon which gave us the opportunity to visit freely. Best salon ever!! I am so glad I found this place. I have never felt more beautiful in the world than when I had my hair done here. I had never died my hair before and now I will trust these people with anything. They are amazing. Â I have only had jakob and sherry do my hair, but you can't go wrong. Everyone at the salon is amazing. They also did my makeup and helped me not only find everything to buy, but actually helped me learn to do my makeup that way.My sister had her wedding hair and makeup done and it was the most amazing hair and makeup I have ever seen. I followed Olivier from Summerland. I have very fine, very straight hair, AND I like it styled (not just hanging straight or pulled back). Olivier got my hair immediately. And he understood how I like to wear it and style it. I have to say, my sister went to him first and though I loved her haircut, I was reluctant to go to him because my hair is so different from my sister's. I was afraid he would just see, "oh, sisters, same hair, same haircut." Well, I gave in and went to see him and the first thing he said was, "Oh, wow! Your hair is completely different from your sister's." Â Yessss! He is meticulous and sees that funky little strand right in the front that wants to go its own way and works with it, almost cutting individual hairs until he gets it to lie correctly. He also cuts it for the way I want to style it, not the way he would style it. Here's the other thing. His haircuts "age" well. I'd never heard that expression until he said something about it and I realized that my cuts with Olivier are just as good the day I get the cut and the day I go in for another cut. Seriously. Absolutely incredible hair salon. I went there initially due to the deal in the Axxess book for 50% off your first treatment. Not really knowing what I wanted, I had my hair lightened by Sienna, who was gracious enough to stay late for me on a Saturday and fit me in last minute before a trip of mine. Being my first hair color experience I was a little uncertain, but then I got used to the lighter hair and loved it. Months later, I made the mistake of trying to get a touch up color done at a different salon using another Axxess deal. Ended up with horrendous chunky highlights and lowlights. Again, Sienna was incredible and came in on her day off to fix the mistake. The result was beautiful and I can't believe she was able to work with the color I had. On top of that, I finally found someone who can cut curly hair! I think they have great prices for the services they provide and I couldn't recommend Sienna more for the wonderful care and work she puts into her client's hair. More...

Visited this salon on a whim because of the Axxess card, and I'm SO glad I did. Jacob is fantastic- I've had many blowouts, had my hair styled all sorts of ways but the updo he did for me was probably the most beautiful my hair has ever been. I got so many compliments all night- AND the braid lasted from 9 am when I got it done until well past midnight. Definitely go to Jacob if you need to look gorgeous for an event- 5 stars! More...

I was delighted to find out that Anthony is still cutting hair in town after having a terrible experience at his old salon with another stylist. He offered to fix my horrible cut for free.First of all, the salon is so cute with ocean views in the Fess Parker. I felt like I was on a vacation. They even validate parking. The location is just incredible and the feel of it is great.Anthony is incredibly personable and passionate about what he's doing. He fixed another stylist's rush job because he loves what he does. He listens and makes sure you are 100% satisfied before you leave. No one has ever cut my hair quite so well and I think it's because he has a really immense understanding for how hair looks and moves. You probably couldn't find a salon with a better view. I went in for a wedding-hair trial, and my stylist, Sherrie, got it spot on - she even coordinated someone to do a make-up trail at the same time! She listened to what I thought I wanted, and created something better than I could have imagined. My maid of honor and mom loved hanging out there, even for a lengthy appointment (those trails do take time). But it went by so fast! Love this Salon! Jacob did an amazing job on my hair! Keratin treatment and cut and I will definitely be going back. My hair is dyed red and fades quickly and the keratin has made the red last much longer and looks silky and healthy. Such a beautiful salon with a view of the beach. The team at Salon del Mar did a fantastic job! The booking process was easy and they were even flexible when I had to change all the appointments by an hour. On the day of everyone ran on time and it was such a calm but fun vibe. The ocean view is AMAZING! I'm glad I didn't have it all done in my guestroom, but in a Salon instead - just less crazy. My trial came out great, and the day of it was even better! I loved my airbrush make up from Adrienne and my elaborate updo from Sherry - I received a lot of compliments, it looked great on camera and it stayed in well thru the next day even though I danced all night. Even the tears didn't mess up my make up! I was staying at The Fess Parker so it was really convenient to use the salon. I would highly recommend them for a professional and beautiful experience. Every experience at Salon Del Mar is wonderful. The salon has a great view of the beach and is bright, clean and nicely decorated. The stylists are all very friendly and talented. I personally go to Sherry who is amazing! She has a wealth of knowledge and an eye for colors and shapes.I recommend the salon to everybody; I only have good things to say about it. I have not cut my hair for 12 years - and now at 45 I was starting to looking like a wild mountain woman ;)Sherri tamed my wild mane with a beautiful layered cut and amazing color - very natural looking and a very reasonable price for my waist length hair - the ocean view is beautiful - and you can grab a glass of wine from the hotel bar to enjoy while your getting beautiful (party time)But what is the most amazing about this place are the people, kind, smart, funny, and they really listen to your needs and wants so that you get exactly what you want that will really work in your daily life. I love the new Salon Del Mar! It's under new ownership and it looks beautiful inside! Â I went to the opening and loved looking at their new product lines and checking out the new decor. My go-to girl is Sherry and she's amazing. I love going to her for a cut & color because she always does a great job. Â She is very open minded and also offers tips based on your needs and wants. Â When it comes to eyebrows, I am super lazy about taking care of them so I go to Sherry for an eyebrow wax and tint! Â They also do makeup and nails I believe but I haven't had either of these services yet. Â Overall I really love the atmosphere and friendly, relaxed vibe in the salon.
