This review is long overdue! A few months ago I messaged Salon Adair via Yelp for a last minute appointment and Chelsea responded within minutes. She booked me that night (on a Saturday) and took me in as her last client at the end of her busy day. You'd think she'd be tired and rush my appointment, but that was not the case at all. I want to thank Alyssa for 1. Giving me the dream hair I've always wanted and 2. For making my salon experience a natural and honest one. I went to her with dry brown hair that a previous salon had completely messed up and she was able to bring me back to a natural looking blonde that I've always wanted with minimal damage and a beautiful technique. It wasn't quiet or awkward, she talked to me about my life the whole time. I wasn't sitting down bored scrolling on my phone at all! She knew exactly what I was going for and asked me about my history and was honest with what she would be able to accomplish with where my hair was at. After going to another salon where they completely botched my long hair into a blunt and medium length haircut. I decided to come to Salon Adair. I first met with Ryan and he did an amazing job at fixing my bangs (I tried to cut them myself after the first horrible experience I had with the other salon I had gone to) and after a few days, I decided to take a leap of faith and see if he could fix my hair entirely. I told him exactly what I wanted a low maintenance cut and one that looked good in a ponytail (I'm not one to straighten or curl my hair on a daily basis. I like keeping my hair healthy and with its natural shine). He suggested I get layers for movement. I've had long layers before, but the stylist who put the layers into my hair has been cutting my hair for years and they are always blended in extremely well through point cutting but she never texturizes or cuts within my hair if that makes sense ...Unfortunately, that was not the case this time. I'll admit I went in with a difficult to work with blunt haircut and came out with an even worse and much more difficult to work with haircut. The layers were choppy, my hair is now overly textured due to him slicing my hair in order to thin it out which created even more layers within my hair ... now when I straighten it I have a lot of flyaways and it doesn't stay straight anymore... it gets wispy and wavy which some may like but my hair is naturally incredibly straight and now, no matter how many passes I do with a straightener it doesn't stay straight... and unfortunately my hair in a ponytail looks like I have a ton of layers in it which to some, they may like the very messy ponytail look .... personally, I really don't .... hence, the reason why I asked for a low maintenance haircut and for it to look good in a ponytail. I was able to reach out to Chelsea, the manager, and she was kind enough to give me not only a refund but also offered to try to fix my hair and it now does look better than it did before ... in a way... but unfortunately, I was still left with a ton of layers and it isn't at all low maintenance. The layers that were done and the great amount of over texturizing done, cannot be fixed unless I cut my hair to the shortest layer which is up to my shoulders.... my only solution is to grow out the layers and keep cutting the length off little by little as time goes by.Response to Chelsea: I knew that it would mean more layers to get the choppy layers blended out, but what I'm more frustrated and upset over is that I agreed to the layers to begin with. I went in wanting to get rid of the bluntness at the bottom of my hair and looking back, it was an easy fix. Instead, he suggested layers for movement and I agreed which I guess is my fault, but since I told him I wanted it to be low maintenance, I figured the layers would be blended in very well and instead I was left with very choppy layers that then, needed to get fixed.  I just regret the layers overall. Loreili was amazing! She was so wonderful and made it such a relaxing experience. She changed the color of my hair in one day, instead of multiple phases multiple days, she was able to in one  in the safest way. My hair is soft and beautiful. I've been going to Salon Adair since I moved to North County, about 4 years now, and I'm lucky enough to have the owner, Chelsea, as my hair pro. No matter what mood I'm in or season it is, Chelsea is a master colorist and will deliver my vision, which usually varies each visit (rose gold, copper, etc). I also took advantage of a hair & makeup special they offered and got new headshots taken as part of the package - it was super fun and definitely worth it! I absolutely love Chelsea's work, and Salon Adair has a friendly, team-oriented vibe that makes it extra fun.And a special shoutout to the fabulous Lorelei for my last visit! I had to get my hair done on a specific day because I was going to a wedding, and Chelsea was already booked.  So I was fortunate to have Lorelei do my hair - another color maestro who did a fantastic job of creating a lilac/pastel pink color scheme (the pics and lighting don't do it justice). I recently moved to the area and I was anxious at the idea of having to find a new stylist. At our first meeting, Alyssa spent extra time listening to what I wanted and then concisely illustrated how she would make that happen. Ryan is absolutely amazing!  He was able to fix both my botched bangs and haircut(: I told him everything I wanted and didn't want and he not only met but exceeded my expectations. I am very meticulous when it comes to my hair yet, I can truly say this is one, if not the best haircut I have ever received! I'm sooo happy to have finally found a hair stylist in town who will be able to cut my hair from here on out and am completely looking forward to going back to Ryan in the near future as I continue to grow out my hair again. I first came to Alyssa back in June to fix my color in a way which would allow me to seamlessly grow out my natural hair. She nailed it . Having not colored my hair since then I was ready for a change. This last appointment we did color and extensions. My stylist Alyssa Plaat has been amazing! My hair feels healthy and the color is incredible. Recently, I decided to have extensions put in for my wedding. I was a little nervous about it since I've never had them before, but they turned out great. I feel like I just have slightly better version of my own hair. One of the best salons I have ever been to in my life! I was in need of a major haircut and the stylist who worked with me was still learning herself but she did an AMAZING job. She said she just got promoted to take clients because she was assisting for a year before, but even though she was young and just got promoted, she was extremely helpful, thoughtful, friendly, and talented. It has been a few days since my first visit to Salon Adair and I am still obsessed with my hair! Ryan was my stylist and he is a genius. I'm never 100% happy with color/haircuts I've had elsewhere and I never know how to fully say what I'm looking for but Ryan figured it out! He listened to everything I had to say, was super patient and honest with me and ROCKED IT! I'm about to be a first time mom, so I wanted something low maintenance while still looking chic...Ryan nailed it. This was my first time at Salon Adair and I had a great experience! I was a little nervous because it was my first time doing a full color and my first time at this salon and wasn't sure how it would turn out. I was completely blown away with the results! I believe this marks 4 years with Ryan as my hairstylist and I could not be more satisfied. This man works wonders and is hands down the most creative, confident, and daring with his cuts/colors. I usually have a very vague idea of the style I'm looking for, along with giving him the creative freedom to try some new things to add to his portfolio, and he nails it every time. The studio itself is always clean & tidy, making your experience all the more pleasurable. The other stylists are helpful as much as they are friendly, I've even brought my grandmother into the salon and they were the most accommodating to her needs. This place is very awesome. I live in Lanakai, on the other side of the train tracks from them, and was riding my bike past here when I had the thought of stopping to ask about my 16 month olds first hair cut. I saw Lorelei this past week and I cannot sing her praises enough!!! Not only is she incredibly kind and considerate, but the outcome is stunning and I've never been happier with my hair! She takes real thought into how she can make everything blend naturally when applying extensions (even to the shortest hair!!) and the color is killer! My extensions match my real hair dead on and you wouldn't be able to tell the difference if you tried. I truly had a hair emergency when I bleached my black hair at home....twice back to back on a Friday night. My hair was like spaghetti noodles from the ends (my elbows) all the way up the back of my head, falling apart, and orange and yellow all over. I called Salon Adair when they opened at 8:30 am Saturday and spoke with Natasha, and in tears explained my disaster. They were booked, but she told me they could take me in 30mins and said between her and Denise, they would make it work between their scheduled appts to help me out. They were truly AMAZING! They saved what they could of my hair (a lot more than I thought they could), gave me a cute cut, corrected the color, and made it feel almost normal again. I was there all day and they were so gracious and patient with the process. They didn't make me feel stupid (and I felt pretty damn embarrassed), or that I was inconveniencing them. They were all so pleasant and Natasha worked her tail off until late to make me look good. Natasha went above and beyond and truly saved my day! She even hooked me up with good shampoo and conditioner. Denise and the other stylists were great too, stepping in to help throughout the process. They took me in on a whim on a busy Saturday to help me out when most wouldn't even want to touch it. I am forever grateful to Natasha and the others, and will continue going there. I've now had a Lorelei as a stylist for some time at Salon Adair and I will keep on coming!! Lorelei is very knowledgeable about my curls. So far, I've gotten two cuts and a full foil highlight and color. After about a month, my color started to fade leaving me with beautiful highlights I am able to grow out naturally. The first time I got it cut I left with a blow out. The second time, I left the salon around 2pm damp with my curls wrapped and the next day I have a full head of BEAUTIFUL curls. Thank you, Lorelei!
