One of the best Italian Deli's in CT.. I've been a few times over the years when I am in the area and today was one of those lucky days. I got the Uncle Jun which was delicious, very filling and freshly made. This place does it right. Great selection of quality meats and sandwich combinations to pick from so you can't go wrong. Brian and his team catered my son’s high school graduation party.I had over 55 people at my house and everybody absolutely loved all the food. Not only was there more than enough for all my guests I was able to send home take home plate’s for people. Not only do they deliver but they also make delicious gluten-free items as well. If you want perfection here it is. Delish! My guests loved the food. Seriously delicious food. I have some food critics in my crew, they were loving it. The delivery staff was great. I woke up this morning feeling real lazy. I didn't want to make breakfast � so I called up salernos and asked 3 questions of. .. 1. Are you still serving breakfast (it was already passed 10am) 2. Best grinders in Torrington. I've tried others and nothing compares. Jimmy's is good but when you ask for the works all hell rains down because your sandwich is now oozing mystery juice and sauce. Carbones is ok if you want a shock factor.But based on quality of sandwich and taste, sarlernos is the cream of the crop. Roast beef with the works is my favorite, godfather being a close second. This deli is a must stop in Torrington. And bring a friend or you're going to have to bring home a doggy bag. The portions are huge, the food is fresh and delicious! In addition to sandwiches there are daily specials and seasonal specials like corned beef dinners. If you can't get out, they will deliver to you. Also, catering services are available for parties. Yum!  You have to try the Godfather.  It is everything you can imagine it would be.  I love spicy food, so be prepared, in the middle of the sandwich, there is a pepper with some sort of hot dressing on it, it will burn your face, but in a good way! I have to say that Brian and his Crew have done it again. I had a family member sick and did not want to cook something but was committed to so I called Brian and his crew - I called the night before for sausage and peppers and it was ready the next morning for me. This time I wanted to do a meat platter with gluten free rolls (but they called and said it would not be possible for all rolls to be gluten free-instead of substituting and not letting me know, they called immediately and we went with regular and gluten free). Holy toledo this place was good! Great old school deli with a small selection of Italian imported goods. Total neighborhood spot that doesn't take cards, only cash or check. 4 people ordered 2 large sandwiches and some chips and we were STUFFED. 1 Diavolo (spicy italian meats w/ provolone and jalepenos) and one with grilled chicken, spinach, mozzarella, and roasted reds. Divine.2 large sandwiches, 2 drinks, and a big bag of chips came to around $30. We were driving south on CT Route 8 when hunger hit us.  My wife found this place on Yelp.  It deserves any high marks others have given it. The people working there were extremely pleasant.  The spice turkey wrap I had was excellent. The atmosphere is "sit-down deli".  A TV in the main seating area adds to make it a "sports sit-down deli".  Although, the sport being broadcast was not your usual sports bar entertainment.  It was the Pro Bowler's Championship.  Mike Fagan was able to knock off the tourney's top seed to take home the Earl Anthony trophy!Now that we found this place, I expect it will be a regular stop on our way past Torrington. Being from Westchester, NY when I moved to CT, the thing I missed the most about it were the Deli's.  No Deli in CT seemed to have what NY delis had; Fresh Italian Bread, Boars Heads Meats; and HUGE Wedges.  I have now found what I was looming for..Salerno's Deli is awesome! Nice deli.  Very friendly staff.  Neat and clean interior.  Plenty of seating.  Great selection of sandwiches, drinks, etc.  Good location.  Overall, we were very pleased with our lunch.  I got an eggplant parm sandwich and my husband got the Godfather sandwich.  We also got chips and drinks.  All reasonably priced.  We will definitely return when we're back in Torrington.
