Lovely clean hotel, spa got a little busy around 4 but very nice. Room was lovely, and had a fantastic view. The complimentary drink in the bar was a nice gesture, however was not told that we had to have it out of service hours, before 6 or late evening in room. Lovely staff.

We have just spent 4 nights in this beautiful hotel, on their Christmas package, and it was fabulous! All staff, without exception, were happy and friendly at all times. ..and they worked hard all over the Christmas period. Nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is spotless everywhere and rooms are well stocked with all that you might need...including complimentary gin, sherry and water! We found drinks prices a little expensive, but probably similar to other hotels of this calibre! The views from the restaurant are beautiful...and if you can afford it, from some of the rooms too! I stayed at this hotel with my daughter last week. The hotel is lovely with fantastic views. We were supposed to be in an Inland View room but they upgraded us to an Estuary Glimpse room which was very comfor table with a glimpse of the estuary. On arrival we were greeted by a very friendly receptionist who showed us to our room and the porter brought our luggage to our room for us. The room had quite a small but very adequate bathroom with a shower over the bath which worked very well indeed. One of the lovely touches about this hotel was the fact that they provided free gin and sherry in the room and each night Housekeeping came round with ice and lemon for our gin.||There is quite a small but extremely nice pool where there are loungers that you can relax in and voil curtains that can be pulled across for privacy. ||Unfortunately what lets the hotel down is the service in the restaurant. On our first night the waiter took our order but was not listening at all and came back to confirm our order which was completely wrong for my daughter. When they asked us to sign for what we had had they added on service which my daughter took off. On the second night we placed our food and wine order. First of all we had to wait ages for our wine and they brought the wrong one for my daughter. Secondly we waited forty five minutes for our starter which fir me was soup. The waiter came over to us and apologised for the delay and said it was due to the fresh soup. That evening they didn't ask us to sign for our meal. After dinner we went to speak to the receptionist about the service in the restaurant. She was very apologetic and said we could speak to the duty manager if we wanted to. The third night the service was much better.||On asking for our bill, and checking through it, we noticed that they had added the service back on for the first night even though my daughter had taken it off and added it on for the second night when we didn't even sign a bill. So we asked them to take the service off for the first two nights which they did. ||Overall, this was a lovely relaxing hotel, which is sadly let down by the service in the restaurant. More...

First time visiting as we love Salcombe so thought a spa break here would be lovely. I feel we had a good Sunday deal which included spa facilities, a nights stay, 3 course meal and breakfast. On arrival they parked our car for us and kindly let us park a few hours early in order to visit the town for some shopping. First impressions were good and the hotel looked gorgeous inside. Our room was lovely with a sea view. Pretty faultless with a very comfortable bed. A nice message from the staff along with a complimentary candle wishing us a happy anniversary. This really made us feel special. It was refreshing to see decent coffee on offer as well as gin and rum in our room. nice touch. We also had a welcome drink at the bar which was really nice.|The spa area was small but this is not a criticism. Water and fruit available and a relaxing seating area. Only annoyance was the jacuzzi was so loud that it was distracting and you almost couldn’t relax because of it. I’ve never found this In any other spa place I have been to before so it was very odd but most definitely un-usually louder than the average. ||My husband and I opted for a 60 minutes massage which would be my only criticism of the whole experience really. 10 minutes late into the room with no apology, however the massage ladies were so lovely it was forgivable. Half way through the massage I asked if I could have some air con on because it was so hot, being pregnant this was bothering me more than usual. The poor massage ladies were sweating and it wasn’t a good condition to work in let alone a pregnant lady having a massage, it was like a sauna. The ladies told me the air con had been broke for some time and was not working. I felt sorry for them as it wasn’t good working conditions. I pretty much wished my massage away as I couldn’t wait for it to be over to get out of the hot room. Was a shame really as the massage was £75 each. The issue was in the double room where my husband and I had a massage together. If I had known the air con was broken I would have opted for another room even if it meant being separated from my husband. ||The evening dinner was gorgeous and faultless food. We were told by the staff prior to our meal that the 3 course meal in our package had stopped and was capped at £27.50. I booked my package over the telephone and was not informed of this, apparently this changed many months ago and I booked only 3-4 weeks prior to our stay. Having said that it was no issue to them and we were granted what we thought we were originally getting and the bill was amended to ensure we had our 3 courses. Nothing seemed too much trouble. ||Our nights stay was peaceful and comfortable and we felt refreshed in the morning. Breakfast was amazing and staff were always pretty friendly. On check out I mentioned the massage issue to be told she would pass it on. I felt maybe a bit more concern would have been more professional. Over all the experience was very good and we would stay again for sure (when the air con is sorted) More...

My husband and I have just returned from this beautiful hotel and we had the best time! From arrival to checkout we’ve literally been so well looked after that we didn’t want to leave. The staff are super efficient, kind and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble and they seem to work so well as a team. Our room was on the first floor and overlooked the harbour. It was a good size with a lovely bathroom with bath and shower. There is plenty of storage space, the bed was super comfy and the room temperature perfect. There is tea and coffee in the room as you’d expect with Nespresso machine and pods which we both loved. They kindly leave fresh milk in the fridge, so no nasty long life stuff that we hate. One of our favourite things in the room was the sherry and gin decanters! Each night there is a tap on the door between 5-7pm and a delivery of ice and lemon arrives... very civilised and Salcombe gin to boot! The staff in the dining/breakfast room were so efficient. We were always greeted warmly and experienced a high level of service. The food was good in both taste and value for money and if I had one negative comment it would be that the wine is all pretty expensive. That said it didn’t spoil our stay. I can’t comment on the treatments at the Spa as we only used the pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. All of the aforementioned were good and the staff were accommodating. ||Salcombe is a lovely base for beaches in the Summer but also perfect for walking and exploring in the Autumn. What therefore could be better than after a long day in the fresh air than to come ‘home’ to this beautiful hotel. We’d love to return soon and hopefully bring more of our family. More...

We had the most wonderful stay!||Much needed downtime and we have returned home so relaxed.||||We had a spa day package booked for the day of our arrival so we got there early ahead of check in. We had a set package of two treatments each, a glass of Prosecco and afternoon tea. It was a great start to our 3 night stay that set the tone for the ultimate relaxing break.||||On checking in to our room we discovered we had been upgraded which was much appreciated, we were given a lovely view from the balcony.||||Everything was seamless, all the staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive.||||We aren’t big on spa days/treatments but we have been turned. ||We had a dual treatment room, enjoying the relaxation together as a couple and we were really impressed with the attentiveness given to us and our individual needs. I have avoided massages for years due to lower back pain but Sylvia approached my problem area with what clearly is a wealthy of knowledge, experience and genuine understanding as she worked on the area painlessly unlike previous experiences I have had. ||My partner had Sophie who was equally attentive to some shoulder pain. ||We ended up booking more treatments and we are going to keep up regular massages going forward now. Even if it means driving 2.5hrs back to Salcombe!||||We are big on food and drink and we were very impressed with everything we had. ||Breakfast, afternoon tea, lunch, dinner, nibbles, cocktails... we loved absolutely everything!||||We thought the complimentary sherry & gin in the bedroom was such a fun touch. ||The evening knock on the door to ask if we needed ice and lemon was an extra touch.||We are now sherry drinkers! Haha!||||The bedroom was clean, fresh, and lots of little touches that made our stay. Housekeeping were very efficient.||||The only negatives I had the whole stay was that the bed was too soft for my back. It was lovely and comfy but I found after a while I was restless and got back ache. My partner loves a soft bed so no complaints from him.||His only complaint was that the pillows were too big and fluffy! ...each to their own hey?!||I was woken every morning by the noise outside the entrance as we were directly above. Most of the time it was the linen truck which came daily but in some cases it was guests coming and going. These things have to be done and it didn’t bother me enough to ask to move. I just thought I would be having lie ins but I was waking/being woken at 6.30-8.30am. We were still able to snooze in and and out and on the plus side it meant we had breakfast each morning. We usually don’t bother with breakfast when we are away as we favour sleep instead but I’m so pleased we did because it was fantastic and there was just too much I wanted to try. ||||We have been telling everyone about the hotel and we plan to go back with our dog on the next visit as we’ve discovered Salcombe is so dog friendly and thankfully the harbour hotel love dogs too! ||||Book book book but just know, 1 night is not enough! We picked this hotel and Salcombe to celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary. We wanted somewhere special with a great location and this ticked all the boxes. The Hotel situation is stunning, wonderful views, even in the rain. The room itself was well furnished, very comfortable. Our balcony was directly over the estuary to enjoy those views. We liked the complimentary sherry and gin and ice and slice delivery each evening is a really nice touch. You can always judge somewhere better by what happens if there is a problem. For us our car suffered a major breakdown and was stuck blocking the hotel entrance for 5 hours (if you were there at the time apologies). The staff were all amazing, very understanding, so many people came out to see if they could help, from the General Manager to the chef!. Although we have visited other Harbour hotels this was our first visit to Salcombe. A lovely location on the estuary with some great views! The parking was a little tight but perfectly manageable unless driving a Chelsea tractor.||The room was nicely furnished with the usual Harbour theme of everything seaside and the bathroom was clean and bright. Bathrobes and slippers provided along with complimentary gin (bring your own tonic!) and sherry plus a drink at the bar on the house.||We made use of the pool and the spa which was really relaxing but imagine that it could become crowded and noisy with more guests making use of the facility. Nevertheless a pleasant experience.||We waited 15 minutes for waiter service in the lounge bar in the afternoon but the two staff we saw seemed pre-occupied with clearing tables or serving coffee to the ten remaining lunch guests. In the end I did go to the bar to be served but felt a little as if I was interrupting the flow of work, but the staff were pleasant enough.||Dinner in the evening was good though we did pay for two side dishes of vegetables. I like al dente vegetables but the fine green beans could have done with another two minutes! However, the fish and chips were good as was the cod with crab crust - allowed followed by a delicious chocolate gateau with apricot jam. No-one enquired as to whether we were enjoying the meal.
