Lovely relaxed hotel Good food.
Lovely clean hotel, spa got a little busy around 4 but very nice. Room was lovely, and had a fantastic view. The complimentary drink in the bar was a nice gesture, however was not told that we had to have it out of service hours, before 6 or late evening in room. Lovely staff.
Superb location backed up by high level of service
We have just spent 4 nights in this beautiful hotel, on their Christmas package, and it was fabulous! All staff, without exception, were happy and friendly at all times. ..and they worked hard all over the Christmas period. Nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is spotless everywhere and rooms are well stocked with all that you might need...including complimentary gin, sherry and water! We found drinks prices a little expensive, but probably similar to other hotels of this calibre! The views from the restaurant are beautiful...and if you can afford it, from some of the rooms too! Perfectly located in the beautiful town of Salcombe...what's not to love?! More...

Great hotel with friendly staff
The room was clean, we'll decorated and had a fantastic view. The Spa is amazing with a relaxing pool, hot tub, steam room and sauna. |The restaurant was also fantastic, our host, Michaela was extremely attentive and the service was top notch. The food was extremely tasty too.||All in all a 5* stay More...
Beautiful and amazing views, staff are really polite..didn’t have time for the treatment we wanted but did offer us 10% off and complimentary upgrade on our next visit.
Breath take ing views.i went in April good food the down side was that they didn’t have our Spa treatment as requested.
Beautiful hotel best in England and best location
My husband planned the perfect child free getaway with the help of wonderful head receptionist Rachel nothing was too much trouble. We arrived prior to check in so went to the bar for our complimentary arrival drinks. 3pm we were escorted to our room with beautiful estuary views and a large balcony and a lovely welcome surprise of brownies. All these little touches make such a difference.||The Spa facilities were 5*.||We arrived for dinner, to which I felt unwell (flu) the waiter was very pleasent and allowed us to order room service. My husband enjoyed the fillet steak. Whilst I slept in the immensely comfortable bed. We were made to feel very welcome, all staff were amazing. We will most definitely return again More...
I stayed at this hotel with my daughter last week. The hotel is lovely with fantastic views. We were supposed to be in an Inland View room but they upgraded us to an Estuary Glimpse room which was very comfor table with a glimpse of the estuary. On arrival we were greeted by a very friendly receptionist who showed us to our room and the porter brought our luggage to our room for us. The room had quite a small but very adequate bathroom with a shower over the bath which worked very well indeed. One of the lovely touches about this hotel was the fact that they provided free gin and sherry in the room and each night Housekeeping came round with ice and lemon for our gin.||There is quite a small but extremely nice pool where there are loungers that you can relax in and voil curtains that can be pulled across for privacy. ||Unfortunately what lets the hotel down is the service in the restaurant. On our first night the waiter took our order but was not listening at all and came back to confirm our order which was completely wrong for my daughter. When they asked us to sign for what we had had they added on service which my daughter took off. On the second night we placed our food and wine order. First of all we had to wait ages for our wine and they brought the wrong one for my daughter. Secondly we waited forty five minutes for our starter which fir me was soup. The waiter came over to us and apologised for the delay and said it was due to the fresh soup. That evening they didn't ask us to sign for our meal. After dinner we went to speak to the receptionist about the service in the restaurant. She was very apologetic and said we could speak to the duty manager if we wanted to. The third night the service was much better.||On asking for our bill, and checking through it, we noticed that they had added the service back on for the first night even though my daughter had taken it off and added it on for the second night when we didn't even sign a bill. So we asked them to take the service off for the first two nights which they did. ||Overall, this was a lovely relaxing hotel, which is sadly let down by the service in the restaurant. More...

lovely views great good and wine great service
First time visiting as we love Salcombe so thought a spa break here would be lovely. I feel we had a good Sunday deal which included spa facilities, a nights stay, 3 course meal and breakfast. On arrival they parked our car for us and kindly let us park a few hours early in order to visit the town for some shopping. First impressions were good and the hotel looked gorgeous inside. Our room was lovely with a sea view. Pretty faultless with a very comfortable bed. A nice message from the staff along with a complimentary candle wishing us a happy anniversary. This really made us feel special. It was refreshing to see decent coffee on offer as well as gin and rum in our room. nice touch. We also had a welcome drink at the bar which was really nice.|The spa area was small but this is not a criticism. Water and fruit available and a relaxing seating area. Only annoyance was the jacuzzi was so loud that it was distracting and you almost couldn’t relax because of it. I’ve never found this In any other spa place I have been to before so it was very odd but most definitely un-usually louder than the average. ||My husband and I opted for a 60 minutes massage which would be my only criticism of the whole experience really. 10 minutes late into the room with no apology, however the massage ladies were so lovely it was forgivable. Half way through the massage I asked if I could have some air con on because it was so hot, being pregnant this was bothering me more than usual. The poor massage ladies were sweating and it wasn’t a good condition to work in let alone a pregnant lady having a massage, it was like a sauna. The ladies told me the air con had been broke for some time and was not working. I felt sorry for them as it wasn’t good working conditions. I pretty much wished my massage away as I couldn’t wait for it to be over to get out of the hot room. Was a shame really as the massage was £75 each. The issue was in the double room where my husband and I had a massage together. If I had known the air con was broken I would have opted for another room even if it meant being separated from my husband. ||The evening dinner was gorgeous and faultless food. We were told by the staff prior to our meal that the 3 course meal in our package had stopped and was capped at £27.50. I booked my package over the telephone and was not informed of this, apparently this changed many months ago and I booked only 3-4 weeks prior to our stay. Having said that it was no issue to them and we were granted what we thought we were originally getting and the bill was amended to ensure we had our 3 courses. Nothing seemed too much trouble. ||Our nights stay was peaceful and comfortable and we felt refreshed in the morning. Breakfast was amazing and staff were always pretty friendly. On check out I mentioned the massage issue to be told she would pass it on. I felt maybe a bit more concern would have been more professional. Over all the experience was very good and we would stay again for sure (when the air con is sorted) More...

We recently stayed at The Salcombe Harbour Hotel and ate at the restaurant on site.||||First and foremost the staff are brilliant. Great location, a few mins to shops, bars and restuarants. Hotel has very friendly and helpful staff, I felt there were a few touches of detail needed when we arrived, e. g. We had the best night away, greeted by friendly faces, with one of the lovely girls, Rachel, showing us to our room. We were excited to get to the spa, where we were greeted by more friendly staff. The facilities again were spotless. || We had the best night sleep, in our king size bed. My husband and I have just returned from this beautiful hotel and we had the best time! From arrival to checkout we’ve literally been so well looked after that we didn’t want to leave. The staff are super efficient, kind and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble and they seem to work so well as a team. Our room was on the first floor and overlooked the harbour. It was a good size with a lovely bathroom with bath and shower. There is plenty of storage space, the bed was super comfy and the room temperature perfect. There is tea and coffee in the room as you’d expect with Nespresso machine and pods which we both loved. They kindly leave fresh milk in the fridge, so no nasty long life stuff that we hate. One of our favourite things in the room was the sherry and gin decanters! Each night there is a tap on the door between 5-7pm and a delivery of ice and lemon arrives... very civilised and Salcombe gin to boot! The staff in the dining/breakfast room were so efficient. We were always greeted warmly and experienced a high level of service. The food was good in both taste and value for money and if I had one negative comment it would be that the wine is all pretty expensive. That said it didn’t spoil our stay. I can’t comment on the treatments at the Spa as we only used the pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. All of the aforementioned were good and the staff were accommodating. ||Salcombe is a lovely base for beaches in the Summer but also perfect for walking and exploring in the Autumn. What therefore could be better than after a long day in the fresh air than to come ‘home’ to this beautiful hotel. We’d love to return soon and hopefully bring more of our family. More...
We had the most wonderful stay!||Much needed downtime and we have returned home so relaxed.||||We had a spa day package booked for the day of our arrival so we got there early ahead of check in. We had a set package of two treatments each, a glass of Prosecco and afternoon tea. It was a great start to our 3 night stay that set the tone for the ultimate relaxing break.||||On checking in to our room we discovered we had been upgraded which was much appreciated, we were given a lovely view from the balcony.||||Everything was seamless, all the staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive.||||We aren’t big on spa days/treatments but we have been turned. ||We had a dual treatment room, enjoying the relaxation together as a couple and we were really impressed with the attentiveness given to us and our individual needs. I have avoided massages for years due to lower back pain but Sylvia approached my problem area with what clearly is a wealthy of knowledge, experience and genuine understanding as she worked on the area painlessly unlike previous experiences I have had. ||My partner had Sophie who was equally attentive to some shoulder pain. ||We ended up booking more treatments and we are going to keep up regular massages going forward now. Even if it means driving 2.5hrs back to Salcombe!||||We are big on food and drink and we were very impressed with everything we had. ||Breakfast, afternoon tea, lunch, dinner, nibbles, cocktails... we loved absolutely everything!||||We thought the complimentary sherry & gin in the bedroom was such a fun touch. ||The evening knock on the door to ask if we needed ice and lemon was an extra touch.||We are now sherry drinkers! Haha!||||The bedroom was clean, fresh, and lots of little touches that made our stay. Housekeeping were very efficient.||||The only negatives I had the whole stay was that the bed was too soft for my back. It was lovely and comfy but I found after a while I was restless and got back ache. My partner loves a soft bed so no complaints from him.||His only complaint was that the pillows were too big and fluffy! ...each to their own hey?!||I was woken every morning by the noise outside the entrance as we were directly above. Most of the time it was the linen truck which came daily but in some cases it was guests coming and going. These things have to be done and it didn’t bother me enough to ask to move. I just thought I would be having lie ins but I was waking/being woken at 6.30-8.30am. We were still able to snooze in and and out and on the plus side it meant we had breakfast each morning. We usually don’t bother with breakfast when we are away as we favour sleep instead but I’m so pleased we did because it was fantastic and there was just too much I wanted to try. ||||We have been telling everyone about the hotel and we plan to go back with our dog on the next visit as we’ve discovered Salcombe is so dog friendly and thankfully the harbour hotel love dogs too! ||||Book book book but just know, 1 night is not enough! Friends stay here every year so we thought we would follow their recommendation as we were also visiting the nearby gin distillery. We were not disappointed and received a lovely welcome and the good service continued throughout our stay.||A couple of days before our stay we were offered by email an upgrade which was a bidding war with other guests. It would have been better in winter if the hotel had given some guests the upgraded rooms free gratis and encouraged another trip to the hotel. More...
Wow, what a fabulous place. The staff at reception were so friendly and helpful. We were shown to our beautiful room where our bed was decorated with balloons and chocolates to celebrate our recent marriage. Small touches were certainly evident within this lovely hotel. Sherry and gin in the room, complementary ice and lemon, use of a small cinema and wellies should you need them. All the staff were very courteous and happy to help with anything. The spa area was very relaxing. The pool was super and treatments(back massages)great. Food was something else, I had the best ever rib eye steak and a cheese soufflé to die for. We were so lucky with the weather, so having a balcony with gorgeous views a real treat. We would certainly recommend and would love to come back again. Thank you Salcombe Harbour Hotel for our stay. You made it so very special x More...
To start with - what a location!! The hotel is perched above the banks of the Salcombe Estuary, with gorgeous panoramic views of the estuary and out towards the sea. |Very warm and professional welcome. The log-effect fire in the lobby created a nice ambience on a chilly day.|We arrived early so were able to enjoy the peaceful and well-equipped spa for a few hours, and my partner treated us both to spa treatments which were excellent. |Nice to be shown to the room, and have all the facilities etc explained along the way.|Beautiful bedroom with stunning estuary views. We picked this hotel and Salcombe to celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary. We wanted somewhere special with a great location and this ticked all the boxes. The Hotel situation is stunning, wonderful views, even in the rain. The room itself was well furnished, very comfortable. Our balcony was directly over the estuary to enjoy those views. We liked the complimentary sherry and gin and ice and slice delivery each evening is a really nice touch. You can always judge somewhere better by what happens if there is a problem. For us our car suffered a major breakdown and was stuck blocking the hotel entrance for 5 hours (if you were there at the time apologies). The staff were all amazing, very understanding, so many people came out to see if they could help, from the General Manager to the chef!. The reception staff helped us arrange a taxi to pick up our car from Torquay two days later where it was taken to be repaired. Our stay was relaxing after that with no car we made the best of what Salcombe and the hotel have to offer which is alot. We spent a rainy day in the SPA and pool very relaxing after the stress. Despite car troubles we enjoyed our stay here very much. More...

My partner and I went for a short stay at the Harbour Hotel and didn’t want to leave this beautifully chic hotel. The views are exceptional and this hotel lends itself to looking up and down the estuary and overlooking the stunning coves. We visited for lunch last week and felt compelled to return and stay the night. The restaurant/bar area is tastefully decorated and has sofa areas which creates an ambience. Our room was superb, with a balcony and high quality furnishings. The spa is bijoux and very chic . I wish I lived closer to be one a member. Overall, I’ve eaten four times here and each time it’s been faultless. On the last two occasions we ate exactly the same dishes, rump of lamb and the rib eye with a bottle of Chateau Musar. The service on all occasions has been outstanding especially the hotel manager, Jason and a young waitress who took a genuine interest in making our trip special. ||||Get Outlook for iOS More...
Superb stay at this wonderful hotel in Salcombe! The room was very luxurious and you could help yourself to free gin too! Lovely coffee machine and tea making etc in room . A great hotel in a fantastic location overlooking Salcombe Estuary and a short walk to the town. The staff were friendly and efficient, the rooms spacious and well appointed. The only formative feedback was that sometimes communications fell short and created gaps to the perfect experience. More...
Although we have visited other Harbour hotels this was our first visit to Salcombe. A lovely location on the estuary with some great views! The parking was a little tight but perfectly manageable unless driving a Chelsea tractor.||The room was nicely furnished with the usual Harbour theme of everything seaside and the bathroom was clean and bright. Bathrobes and slippers provided along with complimentary gin (bring your own tonic!) and sherry plus a drink at the bar on the house.||We made use of the pool and the spa which was really relaxing but imagine that it could become crowded and noisy with more guests making use of the facility. Nevertheless a pleasant experience.||We waited 15 minutes for waiter service in the lounge bar in the afternoon but the two staff we saw seemed pre-occupied with clearing tables or serving coffee to the ten remaining lunch guests. In the end I did go to the bar to be served but felt a little as if I was interrupting the flow of work, but the staff were pleasant enough.||Dinner in the evening was good though we did pay for two side dishes of vegetables. I like al dente vegetables but the fine green beans could have done with another two minutes! However, the fish and chips were good as was the cod with crab crust - allowed followed by a delicious chocolate gateau with apricot jam. No-one enquired as to whether we were enjoying the meal. The only other observation was that the male waiting staff, in a variety of attire, didn't look very smart at all. Some of the dinner guests looked more tidy! How about co-ordinated clothing with perhaps a smart waistcoat with the Harbour logo?||Breakfast was very nice with a good choice of continental or cooked breakfast. ||On our arrival I enquired at reception as to our allowance for dinner and was told £27 per person On checkout I queried the restaurant bill and was told that the allowance was actually £30 per room. Moral - check the small print! More...

Located near the centre of Salcombe, the Harbour looks over the estuary and is a perfect place to stay. The rooms are lovely with comfy beds and all the little extras you'd expect at a "nice" hotel. The food in the restaurant is as good as any in the world.||Our 2 night trip was not without mishap however and how the hotel deals with issues is the difference between a "nice" hotel and a charade. I have mobility issues and required a room near the lift .My husband wanted to take me away to a spa before my major operation as swimming is one of the few activities I can do at this time. He had booked the room directly for this purpose a couple of weeks ago. When we arrived our waterside room was indeed opposite the lift. There is however another lift which is used to reach the spa. The journey to the spa is more than I can manage at the moment but I got there eventually only to find the water was too cold. This is where the good hotels stand out and the charlatans are exposed. The head receptionist, Rachel was more than accommodating to my needs and took the trouble to make my trip as rich as possible despite with what she had available to her. Asa result we will be visiting again soon, hopefully this timeI will be more able bodied. More...
We could not believe how friendly all the staff were. The hotel is beautifully appointed in Salcombe’s mouth. Easy to walk into town (about 2 mins). Very quiet. Easy to walk away and around the estuary too. We stayed in room 210 which was meant to have a glimpse of the estuary, but it was more than a glimpse and you could look as far out to the sea. Breakfast was plentiful and good. Excellent gym and spa too. We had free local Gin and sherry in our room which was a nice and unexpected touch. ||Wl be returning out of season to take advantage of its serenity. More...

Invited to a private 5 course tasting dinner and decided to stay overnight. The chef produced a magnificent fare of local produce cooked to perfection. Our host paired wines which complimented every course. A truly memorable experience. However, I have to mention the wonderful suite I stayed in, pure luxury in every way. Really didn't want to check out but will certainly return again. My compliments to the general manager who really knows how to run a wonderful 5 star hotel overlooking Salcombe estuary. More...
Just back from an overnight stay at The Salcombe harbour hotel - our room was beautiful/ balcony & sea view just a pity it poured with rain - all the staff were very friendly especially a lady who showed us to our room on Thursday afternoon - we had tea & scones / jam / clotted cream - scones were warm & delicious- our breakfast on the other hand wasn’t as good - it tasted fine just expected more from a hotel of this standard - we had a really lovely stay at this hotel & would definitely revisit if ever get the chance

Had a lovely stay here this weekend. Room was great with beautiful balcony view over the river and enormous comfy bed. Massage in the (tiny but stunning) spa was fantastic. Breakfast was delicious. Dinner was pretty good too. ||||Not so sure about: lack of heating control in the v warm bedroom (we left the balcony door open) and weirdly futuristic light switches that didn't exactly work. Also would rather have had more bottled water and less free gin/sherry but that did make us laugh. ||||Staff in the spa and restaurant were great. Housekeeping staff (dishing out ice and lemon) seemed super angry for some reason but we didn't take it personally :) More...
Lovely staff and top notch food against a stunning view.
Great location, great service and cannot recommend enough for a mid week romantic getaway especially during the quiet months......
A very nice hotel in a beautiful location that certainly does not fail to please. The room itself was lovely, very clean and the staff were extremely efficient. The spa and hotel facilities were impressive. We received a warm welcome from staff from the off and this continued throughout our stay.||Our only criticism would be that we were placed in a room with very small windows that opened up on to the road outside protected by a very small wall. So there was no view and with the window open for fresh air it was very noisy. ||There were some very minor points concerning the room as well where attention to detail may have been overlooked. There was a loose floor tile in the shower which could become hazardous in time and the television also struggled to pick up most freeview channels. ||A point to note for anyone visiting bringing a vehicle. The car park is very tight and is on a very steep hill. ||These points aside the Harbour Hotel Salcombe is a great place to stay for a relaxing break. Thank you. More...

I had an overnight stay with my daughter. I had been given a voucher for two spa treatments and lunch so decided to make a short break. We arrived early but the reception staff were very helpful and recommended a good pub for lunch. Unfortunately it was closed but we found an alternative. Upon check in we were told we had been given a room upgrade which was a nice surprise. The room was very spacious with a huge bathroom and large balcony overlooking the beautiful estuary. The food was good in the restaurant and not too pricey. We used the spa facilities and gym. Both are very clean and well attended. We had a wonderful time and I would return although the rooms are quite expensive, so it would be as a special treat. More...

Fabulous 3 night break at the Harbour Hotel. It really “ticked all the boxes” for us and we are extremely critical having travelled extensively over the years. ||Stunning Estuary views from our room, cleanliness par excellence and second to none service from the moment of check in to check out. ||Very nice touches such as gin and sherry in decanters placed in the room and an evening ice service which included lemon and lime slices. ||Booked to return to attend a wedding locally next August but I’ve a feeling we will be back well before then! Only stayed for one night and on the whole it was a very enjoyable experience.||The hotel is well situated a short stroll to the main shops and pubs. ||It is right on the estuary with lovely views over the river and plenty of areas to watch the boats etc.||The parking was a challenge but no major worries.||Checking in was good and a nice touch was to be shown to our room where we found complimentary sherry and gin as well as a free drink at the bar later.||The room was immaculate but sadly lacking in any a/c which led to a slightly sleepless night due to the heat and the open window allowing noise into the room.||We did however have a view of the river which judging by their locations a lot of rooms didn't.||There was also a wedding on that evening but we were not disturbed at all.||We sampled the pool etc and enjoyed a swim and sauna but there were no towels available and the small number of beds were all taken.||Sadly breakfast was somewhat spoiled by a complete lack of attention from the seemingly understaffed waiting staff.||No-one refilled the coffee and my wife's breakfast was really under cooked despite asking for it to be well done, we tried to catch someones attention but to no avail.||Finally, we popped onto the terrace only to find all of the cushions were soaked from overnight rain which in turn made the seats stay wet even with the cushions removed. Why not put them away at night or when it is raining.?||These are all just small niggles which if attended to would make the whole experience perfect. More...

Extremely helpful staff with a beautiful upgraded room. Such a beautiful place, such a privilege to stay. Thank you so much
We echo the reviews of previous clients. Amazing location with brilliant views, fabulous rooms and ultra friendly staff. But agree the management need to address the staffing at breakfast. My husband had to wait half an hour for an omelette and we had to remind them to bring us coffee which was weak and not so hot. The restaurant was clearly understaffed but despite that the staff were trying their best and maintained a smile on their face. Not their fault. The fruit juice had ran out and we had to ask for the fruit salad to replenished. Other than this the hotel overall is excellent. The management just need to sort the breakfast experience. Disappointed the oyster bar closed!! We were told the reason was that oysters are out of season which we know not to be true. || More...

I had booked the Sunday evening deal which included a three course set meal or a contribution towards the a la Carte. The set meal was not available which I thought a bit of a con so be wary as they advertise it on this basis. Never the less we had a lovely meal. Food was excellent. |Breakfast the next morning was lovely but it seemed understaffed. We had to wait for tea, toast and our ordered items. Staff forgot to give us cutlery and milk which we kept having to ask for. Good job we could enjoy a leisurely breakfast to start our day! I would recommend this hotel and would stay again but there are a couple of areas where improvements could be made in a hotel of this calibre. More...
Service and waiting time at the restaurant is affully long and inattentive.
Been meaning to write a review on here for the last couple of weeks. Amazing hotel in the town of Salcombe. One of the most beautiful places I have visited in the UK, and my new 'happy place'. ||The hotel is in a great location with terrific views and the rooms are lovely. The team without exception couldn't do enough for us and made our family weekend away extra special. Lovely meal in the restaurant on the first night, and great breakfast each morning. I would highly recommend this hotel and will definitely be returning. Loved the Gin and Sherry in the room - great touch. Dog friendly rooms meant that our labrador didn't miss out on the fun. The walk to the closest beach is about fifteen minutes and well worth it, as the views on route are wonderful.||||Thanks to all the team - you are awesome!! More...
Great place. Everyone was really nice
I stayed here for two nights on a family getaway and couldn't be happier with this absolutley wonderful hotel. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly with anything we asked them for. The Jetty restaurant served us some fantastic food every morning and on the friday night when we arrived. The spa was perfect for a relaxing morning swim and steam. It was lovely and peaceful. The location is incredible, it is only a 5 minute walk into the centre of Salcombe where everyone is friendly. I would happily book here again but hopefully next time for longer! Well done to all the team for an amazing holiday experience! More...
A very enjoyable meal with stunning views.
We just loved it. Room balcony over looking the water. Stunning location very easy going staff. Extremely friendly.
The view from our room. Good food and friendly staff.
Lovely hotel, fabulous views, nice spa and lovely friendly staff. Would recommend it, lovely touch was having ice and lemon and lime delivered for your evening gin. Food was amazing
Fabulous relaxing time. So enjoyed the day
Really nice place and food was great value.
Location and view. Rooms good restaurants rather recitative menu
the location is the star here. Do get an estaury view, the view is stunning! We had a balcony on a very comfortable room that has all the things you'd expect (safe, towelling robes, and even free gin/sherry, though oddly not flannels). The car park is quite tricky, but they will park your car for you, and this worked well. Breakfast was also good. We didn't dine in the hotel, but did have a good cream tea.The place is quite large, and felt a bit anonymous, but everyone individually was helpful before and after we arrived so perhaps I am just comparing it to smaller hotels in other places. The hotel is a couple of hundred metres from the centre of town and very convenient for the costal path (our purpose). More...
We had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay. The whole hotel has a lovely ambience; luxurious without being stuffy. Champagne and firelight on arrival, the joy of valet parking, a fabulous room with amazing harbour and coastal views from our large balcony. Dinner was delicious with a varied and carefully executed menu including several fish and seafood options. Great cocktails too. The entire hotel felt exclusive without being stuffy. The staff were all very pleasant and professional. Fellow guests of all ages. Everyone seemed happy and relaxed. We loved the spa. All spotless. Following a super breakfast we really did not want to leave. Thank you. More...
A very nice hotel to stay in with excellent facilities and in an excellent location. Can highlu recommend
We stayed here for 4 nights having not been to this area for a few years . On Arrival car was parked for us as limited parking , no problems there. ||We booked in and we were offered a complimentary drink of our choice nice touch.||Room was not available until 3pm but not a problem either .||I have to say that when we did get to the room we were a little disappointed although it had everything in it that we needed plus the complimentary sherry and Gin , for what we paid around £320 per night we found it quite small and didn’t look as good as what we had seen on the web site , it did have a small balcony with 2 chairs and a tiny table and apart from the roof in front a full estuary view it was however as others have said quite hot at night did not really like to leave the balcony door open so air con I think is needed the room was 318 .||The restaurant and food we found very nice drinks though were quite expensive ,yes service was a little slow at times but hey we were on holiday, here I have to mention a member of the restaurant staff who in our opinion ensured to the best of her ability that things went smoothly in the restaurant , she was always smart , pleasant , and could not do enough for you I think her name was Jane . The pool area was also good and I had a spa treatment which was very Nice And Annette did that for me.||So to sum up would we return if we were in that area then yes we might , mainly expensive drinks and the room made me give it four stars. The staff we spoke to were all nice although I have to say no one upon check out asked if we had enjoyed our stay. More...
Stunning views, the weather doesn't matter, just needs a menu small menu revamp
When 13 people walk in without a reservation it could have all gone wrong but the staff were brilliant and opened another outside area (very sunny day! ) ... in fact the staff were the best thing about our lunch ... food was all ok but overpriced for what you get and someone needs to tell the chef what mushy peas are!...all in all we had a fun afternoon but the restaurant needs to up there game! Attended a wedding open event last night with family. Just love it here. A little paradise of calm where the staff can't do enough for you. Milly, the Events Coordinator, was a dream, so easy to talk to, didn't feel any question was silly, she also made a mean cocktail! Head Chef Jamie whipped us up a fantastic meal at the BBQ too. We met some wonderful suppliers and the function room was laid out beautifully, offering some great ideas for your big day. ||The restaurant looked busy as ever and all of the food looked and smelt amazing! There are a number of lovely outside areas to sit and enjoy the last of the evening sun (when we're lucky enough to have it!). We were offered blankets when it got chilly and really could have stayed out there all night! The cinema room is a really cool touch, the spa is lush, the views - beautiful. Thank you for a delightful evening and show around. Can't wait to return again soon, next time for a stay and some of your yummy seafood :-) More...
Enjoyed our stay as part of a Golden Wedding Celebration. Delighted with super room upgrade to full balcony room with stunning estuary view, complimentary Sherry and gin. with ice/lemons/limes delivered fresh by housekeeping. Offered complimentary drink at bar before dinner. Room absolutely perfect, quite stunning, hotel beautifully kept throughout and use of excellent pool very welcome after long journey. Hotel presents itself as quality, without being stuffy and valet parking is a huge plus ( although probably necessary considering the number of cars squeezed into a limited area) don't know how the parking guys do it !!||For me the only let down is the restaurant, which is way too casual for a hotel of this quality. Food ok,but overpriced and nothing special at this price point. Staff all polite and attentive, but poor image. Managers in suits but with open neck shirts, staff wearing assorted casual footwear and with minimal training ( although they do try) ,poor menu knowledge and comprehension, couple of waiting staff with " very strange" manner.||Restaurant food. Ok,but overall poor experience, detracting from the quality of a superb hotel.||Would stay again without hesitation, but would go out for dinner ! More...
High quality hotel.
Lovely hotel overlooking estuary. Variety of rooms/suites. We enjoyed a river view and it was tranquil. Good restaurant but service was a little slow when busy. Booking ahead for evening meal recommended. Car park on site and free and staff will park your car when it gets congested - no trouble at all. Lovely spa and treatment rooms which I did not have time to use but looked very pleasing. Dogs welcome, not sure if prior arrangements need to be made. Only thing missing was magnifying makeup mirror! More...
Had a really nice prosecco sat at the bar with some tasty complimentary mixed nuts having a chat with the girls. Lovely environment, bit pricey but you are paying for the location. Will be back for sure.

Had a great break here last week, cannot fault this hotel. Food and service excellent. Usual great little touches as in all Harbour hotels much appreciated. Such enjoyable meals and especially a big thank you to Daisy, Jane and George for their happy faces always. The guys who move the cars around need a special mention too. Great location so near town, I have walking difficulties so this was ideal. We will be back! More...
My wife and I stayed for 3 nights and had a wonderful time.|The hotel is ideally situated on the estuary and our double room with estuary views and balcony gave us a full view of it. The room itself was very large and very well appointed. The bed was huge and comfortable. The bathroom was equally large with both a bath and separate shower, plus 2 wash basins.|My wife used the Spa for a massage treatment and was very complimentary about it.|On arrival parking in such a small space looks a nightmare but you actually just drive up to reception and they take care of everything.|All the staff we met were very attentive and helpful. |We also ate in the hotel often but I will write a separate review under The Jetty.|Overall an excellent stay and we would happily recommend to others. It is pricey, but ultimately worth it. More...
Fabulous but pricey
Posh. Expensive .nice land mark.
Great location although parking is scary! Thank goodness they have someone to park!My only complaint would be the cost. Deluxe room with Balcony. Of course you would pay a premium for the beautiful views however, the rooms are very small. £700 two night bed and breakfast, Excessive!Staff and facilities excellent.Would definitely come back but not paying those rates. We have recently returned from a lovely couple of nights at the Salcombe Harbour Hotel. Years ago we used to stay at the Marine Hotel at least 2 or 3 times a year but we don’t think we have been back to Salcombe since 2005. Due to the fact that I am a wheelchair user I need an adapted/DDA room and all too often when visiting hotels, the facilities are lacking to say the least! However, the room we stayed in was perfect including an excellent wet room. Access around the reception, bar and restaurant was perfect.||Both the food and service were outstanding and although there was an issue with a broken down lift that meant I could not get to the Spa area, this was dealt with very well by the duty manager and the reception team and we received a complimentary night’s stay to use at a future date.||It was lovely to be back in Salcombe, our room had a stunning view that despite heavy rain was still lovely. We will most definitely be returning in the near future. More...
Fabulous waterfront location with exceptionally pretty views. Good quality food, towards top-end of price range but worth it. Good size portions, service ok but could improve. Mainly a seafood menu but fair range of grill choices for those who don't like fish/vegetarian (unlike the place on the opposite side of the estuary where we stayed). ||||Salcombe is a beautiful place with lots of places to eat and drink but I'd definitely come back to stay here next time as it seems to have the whole package. More...
My husband & I recently stayed here as a birthday / anniversary celebration. Check in was very smooth & the reception staff were friendly & informative. However, even though I mentioned the birthday & anniversary in my booking notes, there wasn’t any mention of it during our stay. The parking at the hotel is a bit problematic - it’s on a very steep slope with not much room. I’m glad I wasn’t driving! We had to give in our car keys in case the car needed to be moved...my husband wasn’t happy about it in case there was an accident but luckily our car didn’t need to be moved in the end. We booked through Mr & Mrs Smith, which includes a free candle. However, I had to ask for the candle as it, again, wasn’t mentioned during our stay. The description of the candle sounded lovely but, to be honest, it looks a bit tacky & doesn’t smell particularly great. ||Our room was lovely, we got a partial estuary view & the room was big enough to relax in without feeling cramped. The bed was massive but not particularly comfortable. The fan didn’t work in the bathroom but the shower was so nice & there was a big bath too. The toiletries were lovely & there was a good tea, coffee & biscuit selection! We took advantage of the free sherry & gin too! Good shout from another reviewer on taking your own mixer with you. Every evening, housekeeping come round with ice & lemon so you can enjoy it. The hairdryer wasn’t great & we had to ask for an iron, which leaked badly. ||On our first night, we got a free welcome drink from the bar, which we could choose. We sat on the terrace to have it, which had beautiful views over the estuary. It was so peaceful & calm. I liked how they provided blankets in case it got cold (& umbrellas if it rained)!||Milk was delivered outside your door in the morning to have with your tea. The breakfast was a bit of a let down. The service was so slow! The continental selection was ok but something was always run out of. The cooked breakfast was nice but the portions were small & it took ages for it to come out. We also had mouldy toast one of the mornings, which does make you wonder what else wasn’t fresh...||The bar was really cosy, with a selection of board games to play & books to read. Again service was slow & the prices were quite expensive. We didn’t use the cinema but it looked cool! It looks like the hotel would be a fantastic place for a wedding too! ||We spent an afternoon in the spa, which was very relaxing. There are some beds available next to the pool, which can be sectioned off if you want privacy. The hydra pool was so noisy when switched on but nice when you’re in it. I liked the fruit water & the magazine selection. The pebble room looked so relaxing but I didn’t stay in there as I’m not sure I’d have woken up before the spa shut! Plenty of towels available & robes were provided in the room.||The hotel was really close to the main high street in salcombe so easy to find somewhere to eat or to do some shopping. ||Overall, it’s a great hotel in a fantastic location, just could be even better with some small adjustments More...
I can honestly say I can’t remember the last time I felt so relaxed after a break away. ||The staff in this hotel are all so hardworking and happy! Jane in the restaurant was lovely, as was Sarah on reception but really all staff were lovely.||Our meal was divine on Monday evening, I had the chicken but don’t like food on the bone and nothing was too much trouble for the restaurant team! ||Will definitely be back ||The ice cream on the terrace is a lovely touch! I visited the hotel at the weekend for a quick over night stay to relax and recharge and I was not disappointed! The views are stunning, the hotel is beautiful and the staff cannot do enough for you from the very helpful porters parking our car to the bar staff making our delicious cocktails and the wonderfully relaxing massage. On arrival we had decided to head straight to the spa for a massage and use of the facilities - perfectly relaxing and I did not want my massage to end. Afterwards we headed to the grill for lunch - I had the cod fillet with crab which was absolutely delicious all washed down with a Salcombe gin..or two. We were lucky to enjoy brilliant weather during our visit so the terrace was a lovely treat to simply enjoy the beautiful view - we were even treated to a free ice cream whilst using the terrace. If we had more time there it would be great to use the cinema room also! ||||All in all I would highly recommend the hotel - it was simply fantastic from start to finish and I cannot wait to go back! I frequently travel from London to Salcombe Harbour Hotel for the perfect weekend getaway. From relaxing in the spa having a massage (I recommend Sylvia), fresh seafood in the restaurant, drinks out on the terrace, to watching a film in the cinema room - there reallly is something for everyone. Upon my most recent visit, I cannot fault any of the services. I was made to feel welcome from the moment I arrived - i.e porter parking car, friendly reception etc, to the moment I left - where I got speaking to the lovely female manager who took an interest in my stay ensuring all was to my standards.||||On this visit I noticed that a brand new Oyster & Champagne bar has opened - a lovely touch that gives this hotel a uniqueness. Thank you for another wonderful visit - and for the delicious (free!) ice creams on the terrace on a hot day! ||||Highly reccommend and cannot wait to return. More...
This hotel and its staff really blew me away.||We went for a SpaDay and dinner as we were in the area for the week and were so impressed we’ve already booked to come again! ||The ladies in the spa were all so welcoming and the place was spotlessly clean - I used to work in the leisure trade so I know clean, and this place was top notch.||We had a lovely lounger by the pool and a very comfortable robe and branded slippers to chill out in. Overall a great experience.||Afterward we sat out on the terrace and were brought ice creams on the house with the ice cream van music playing!!! What an amazing touch.||Dinner was simply sublime. I had the pork which was excellent and nothing was too much for the service staff. George was so lovely and full of fun. The desserts are also wonderful! ||Thank you Salcombe Harbour - you really made our stay incredible. More...
We have stayed here before, this time all I can say great place to take a break, just wonderful, the room was clean and very comfy, staff all tried to there best to be helpful, I would stay again, highly recommend!
Recently visited the hotel with friends to make use of the spa followed by lunch and drinks. The customer service was excellent throughout our time in the hotel, the food was great and we all loved our spa treatments. Can't wait to come back!
I stayed at the Salcombe Harbour Hotel and Spa recently and was not disappointed! The hotel was was incredibly clean and well presented and the views were stunning. As soon as I arrived the staff were attentive and assisted me with my bags. The car park is on a hill, and staff parked my car for me with the aid of the turntable which is an excellent addition.||||I made sure to try the Spa during my stay and found the treatment extremely relaxing (ask for Sylvia if you go) and enjoyed a relax by the pool. The restaurant was equally enjoyable, with great food, helpful staff, and fantastic local gins.||||This was not my first trip to the Salcombe Harbour Hotel and it will not be my last either! More...
We visited SHH for a couple of nights for my wife's "special" birthday and couldn't have wished for a better experience. ||We booked an estuary view room with balcony and wow what a view!||The hotel is in a fantastic location easy walking into Salcombe itself in a couple of minutes.||I'd pre-arranged with Becky the excellent manager to have a birthday cake made as a surprise and they brought it to the table at our meal, both it and the meal were fantastic.||All the staff were friendly and couldn't have been more helpful.||we will definitely be returning. Omg it is simply lovely a must in the UK trust me
This hotel was superb. We wanted to be near to the town and to the beaches, as the 5 children varied in age from 11 to 17. The weather was perfect and we were looked after superbly in the hotel by a very professional staff. Our rooms were all alongside each other as we had booked in late 2018. There were magnificent views from our balconies. We did not want too much formality in the dining room and a very happy balance was struck.||||In all, we could not fault the hotel and particularly enjoyed the pool area, the outside space and the bedrooms. A special place
Always a treat to look forward to.
Amazing all round.
Calm setting, lovely view across the water. At the higher budget end, a large glass of wine was £12.50
We booked an Estuary Balcony Room and was delighted with it. Really comfy bed, great bathroom and those views are amazing. So lovely to have the sea air right through the night with an open balcony door, no noise at all ! There is no air con so yes I can see it might be a problem if you don't like sleeping with a balcony door open or if its noisy. Great complimentary sherry and gin too ! We enjoyed the swimming pool, the evening meal and the breakfast and we will def return. Expensive yes, good value, I would say yes. More...
Great place. Not cheap at all
I have many fond memories of Salcombe over the years and this hotel most definitely enhances your visit. Understated quality in probably the best location with great views of the estuary. The staff are very attentive and service is first rate More...
Not able to travel to far for weekends away, I booked this hotel to celebrate the other half's Birthday. We were not disappointed. We were a little early arriving and were promptly whisked away to the outdoor terrace for a complimentary glass of champagne whilst we waited for our friends and for the room to be prepared. The views from the terrace are quite breathtaking and the Jetty Restaurant is chic, yet has a relaxed atmosphere to relax in. We learnt of their Cocktail Masterclasses and without having even checked into our room, promptly signed up four of us for an hours class where George (I hope I’ve got that right) took us through the art of making a total of eight cocktails between us (with a bonus ninth as he was determined to teach me how to make a damn good Mojito). He was attentive, funny and really informative - it was one of the best classes I’ve done and I’ve come home eager to impress my friends with what I have learnt. The Restaurant / Bar staff accommodated our last minute request and also a last minute change of plan to eat in the Restaurant that evening.||||Having booked last minute and also during Regatta week we had one of the rooms at the back of the hotel overlooking the road, and other than it being a little hot at night, it was very comfortable and had everything we needed (including a fan in the wardrobe, which we sadly did not spot until our departure). ||||We decided to have some oysters before heading into the town at the Seafood Bar and opted for the Oysters and Champagne special. They were shucked by the ever attentive George and we had the opportunity to talk to some of the other bar staff who had come from all over Europe for the experience of working at such a gorgeous hotel. The oysters came beautifully presented and accompanied by a chilled champagne. One of our guests writes a travel blog for an overseas audience and was delighted with the amount to photo opportunities she had with every drink and dish presented to us throughout our stay.||||Speaking to other guests in the hotel, we realised many have been coming here for years and some were on their third or fourth visit that year. It’s easy to see why, the service is fantastic and the atmosphere is one that offers you a relaxed but luxurious stay. ||||We booked in for the Sunday Lunch the following day and were treated to two courses of beautifully prepared fresh food , all locally sourced. A small band played jazz in the background whilst we took in the surroundings and felt ourselves melt into the cosy chairs having all eaten well. There are an array of books dotted throughout the hotel and I found myself getting lost in books on fashion designers, photographers and artists over a latte. I noted some negative reviews regarding the service of the restaurant staff, but really cannot fault them. On what was a busy Regatta weekend, they made us feel like we were the only diners in the room and took the time to recommend certain dishes and wines and talk to us about the local area. With a packed schedule we were unable to participate in the delights of the Spa, but took a quick tour and were impressed by what we saw. In fact we were so impressed with our stay, we will be booking the whole family in for lunch at the end of the month for a Birthday celebration and thoroughly look forward to revisiting this welcoming and wonderful hotel again. My wife and I stayed here for our anniversary and loved every aspect of it. The estuary balcony room had fantastic views, the room was very nice with great shower, toiletries and the free gin with ice and lemon was a real surprise (wish we had brought our own tonic! ). The complimentary drink on the terrace, the dinner and the breakfast were superb with very helpful and attentive staff. Only slight negative was the jacuzzi was broken so unable to experience that in the otherwise relaxing spa. Overall it was well worth the premium price. More...
We had three nights in a room allegedly with a Juliet balcony and glimpses of the river. For £340 per night Bed and breakfast we would have expected some additional benefits. |On the plus side the room was very clean modern and very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Our glimpse of the river was actually a full view which was spectacular. Free valet parking which was essential at this time of year.|On the disappointing side there was no balcony so a Juliet balcony is a misdescription. Only a large sliding door with a glass barrier to the outside. Surprisingly there was no magnifying mirror for makeup or shaving only a set of scales to make you feel guilty. The shower screen was coming away from the wall but this was only a slight lack of attention by maintenance, not a major problem. The bathroom was very modern and spotless. Free gin and sherry in the room was a pleasant surprise but at £2.50 a small bottle of tonic everyone bought a large bottle from the supermarket only a short walk away. |The weather was changeable so with the window open the temperature was OK but if it had been hot there is remarkably no aircon only a portable fan. Maybe some of the newer rooms have aircon but I would check as it could have been very uncomfortable.|Overall a lovely but expensive place to stay. Very central to everything with lovely helpful staff. More...

The waiters need to wipe the tables in the Jetty restaurant. Booked a last minute table for dinner over the bank holiday and it was absolutely superb. When we arrived we were warmly greeted by two staff members who asked if we would like to have a drink outside before going to our table. We accepted the offer and ordered some wine. When we were ready the same staff member took us to our table. The Jetty has been decorated beautifully! I ordered the lamb and my partner salmon and both were so good. The cottage pie that came with the lamb was hands down the best cottage pie ever! Wish I could eat it all over again! I had a strawberry daiquiri and it tasted so fresh, I love a good cocktail and this was certainly one of the best I've ever had. The staff even made my partner a Moscow mule which wasnt even on the menu (made his day, thanks!) For dessert I had mille fuille and my partner creme brulee and both were amazing. The staff were all so friendly and were great to chat and joke with, nothing was too much trouble.|The bill was also about £50 less than we thought it would be (bonus!) And we had 2 courses and a cocktail each and a bottle of wine on top!||Would definitely visit again and recommend if you're wanting to treat yourself with a little bit of luxury! More...

This Hotel is in a fantastic location we had a room with a balcony which had lovely views and a real suntrap in the morning. The room was a good size and immaculate with lovely decking on the balcony just one thing let it down the paintwork on the balcony has gone rusty and needs painting! The car park is quite tight but if you just drive outside reception they will come out and park your car for you. Some family, acquaintances and I went to Salcombe Harbour Hotel for food and drinks on the evening of Monday 5th August. ||||I must start with the admission that it was such fabulous fun! We began our evening with Prosecco and socialising on the balcony overlooking the estuary. A beautiful view indeed with such comfortable seating. ||||We followed these drinks with a lovely 2-course meal (3-courses was an option by the way). I had the chips and fish for my main meal and the Sachertorte for dessert. My, oh my. Such wonderful, exquisite food and the people in my company had nothing but positive reviews of their food also.||||I must say, it really was our favourite evening in Salcombe. I will most certainly be returning.||||Kind regards. More...
Superb food, beautiful location.
Every detail is excellent. Location amazing.
A fabulous way to spend a couple of days away in a beautiful part of the country. The staff are there to make your visit even more enjoyable by being so friendly and helpful from the minute you pull up in your car at the front of reception - taking it away to park for you and personally showing you to your room. We had a beautiful balcony room overlooking the river estuary and a very comfortable bed and elegantly decorated room. Complimentary gin and sherry waiting for us as well as the usual supply of tea and coffee. An international mix of staff made for interesting conversations during meal times - a good selection on the menu and delicious meals including the full English breakfast. A little slow on service - but it was a busy time and we were not in a hurry so it wasn´t a problem. The Spa is quite small, but very clean and a nice place to go and relax, especially in the "children free zone" during the day. Having two fabulously warm and sunny days certainly was a bonus for this location and being so close to the town was also great for shopping in lots of quirky little boutique shops. A lovely place to visit at this time of the year - not sure how attractive it might be in the winter. More...

The hotel is in a great location & the rooms are good proportion. There is a lovely sun deck & great views. The only thing that lets the hotel down is the restaurant waiting staff. The service was poor. We had to constantly ask to be served & then waited 15-20 minutes for any drinks to arrive. It did seem like the staff were new to the hospitality industry. Other than that the stay was enjoyable & the remaining staff were wonderful. More...
Right on the sea front, good terrace area for food and drinks, short walk to town. Reception staff very friendly..
The location was amazing, the staff attentive and the overall facilities outstanding
I visited the hotel with several friends for my Hen Party and would thoroughly recommend it. I had booked the Sea Salt Exfoliation Massage in the Spa and the therapist, Sylvia, was absolutely wonderful. She made me feel completely comfortable and I received the most relaxing massage. Thank you so much! More...
Visited the new oyster and champagne bar at the Salcombe Harbour hotel this afternoon as I heard the oysters were truly amazing. Absolutely delicious, scrumptious, meaty, fresh oysters from the river Yealm some 20 miles away. Couldn't get any better..... drinking champers on the terrace overlooking the Salcombe estuary on a beautiful sunny day. Will be back. Cheers.| More...
Having arrived at our apartment overlooking Salcombe Harbour we ventured down the road to find lunch. Once arrived at just gone 3pm we were invited to have free champagne and oysters from its newly opened oyster bar. |Whilst|What a treat which we followed by Lobster arancini and a superior BLT. (Note that these were not free)||Great start to our visit and worthy to mention the staff who were all outstandingly .|Full marks.||| More...
Fantastic hotel with many extras on offer. Very friendly staff, fabulous food and an overall relaxing atmosphere. Views are exceptional from the hotel, the estuary boasts unspoilt beaches with easy access via boat near the hotel. The bedrooms are very relaxing and clean. The carpets despite being new, have a few stains, they should thoroughly clean these prior to new guests arriving - the staff could wear overshoes whilst cleaning the bedrooms. I noticed there was limited choice of vegetarian food available, quorn options could be included too. I would highly recommend this hotel to any family. More...
Very upmarket split level hotel with individual rooms and balconies with wonderful views of the estuary. Sophisticated restaurant that was headlining a steel band. Glorious place to enjoy some respite in this delightful town More...
A memory lane trip from back in the day when this hotel was The Marine. Returned after 18 years. The old building is still there, although updated throughout. New builds in front are apartments and the HASPA complex which impair the view, but made the project viable as the sale of the apartments financed the hotel refurb after a 3-year closure. We had a great time. All the staff were friendly and helpful and the service from everyone was excellent. The complimentary valet parkers are miracle workers, seemingly able to fit unlimited vehicles into the limited space available. Without them, there would be real stress for guests. Food consistently good. Good choice of breakfasts, all freshly prepared. Estuary view rooms with balcony enable the best experience. It is the type of hotel where nearly all guest sit out on their balconies enjoying the ever changing comings and goings in front of the property. The old slipway and hard where you used to be able to launch and park small boats have been impeded by the new builds. Years ago, most stays were a week or two in duration. These days, most are 2/3 nights, so our 9-day stay was unusual. In all, an excellent stay made special by the bar and restaurant staff who treated us as special and valued guests. Will almost certainly return soon. Thanks everyone. More...
Absolutely stunning hotel with such friendly staff.Made the stay a special night to remember just wish we had more time to spend down there. We will definitely be going back
Tolle Lage mit Ausblick und grossen Balkon zur Bucht. Sehr ruhiges Zimmer, sehr geräumig, schick eingerichtet, tolles grosses Bad, sehr sauber. Toll!. More...
The hotel is situated in an idyllic setting, with extensive views across the harbour and estuary, to witness the array of craft weaving their way through the waters that define this part of South Devon. |The hotel is highly impressive and very well equipped, although some minor niggles tended to detract from what might have been a complete 5* experience. |The quality of service provided by staff was generally excellent and, in the main, could not be faulted, except for the very few, whose standards did not fully equate to those of their colleagues. The standard of cleanliness was also a notch down from first class, with the crumbs from the previous evening’s diners clearly evident on the floor surrounding our breakfast table, while our bath was far from being spotlessly clean. However, these were minor irritants - along with their rather strange system for ‘payment’ for the dinner package, where despite the fact that it had been paid, the total amount had to be signed for, but which would be refunded by reception at checkout. |The bedroom was very comfortable, with a balcony on which to watch the incessant traffic traversing the waters of the estuary in all possible directions. The spa facilities were a welcome relief for tired limbs and of a very high specification. The food quality was also of a very high standard with, in general, excellent service to match. |In summary, while the hotel did not quite live up to expectations or its own aspirations,it provided a very good, highly enjoyable and relaxing overall experience. We returned to Salcombe Harbour Hotel this weekend, after a disappointing stay in January. I have to say it was like visiting a completely different place! We received a warm welcome on arrival and quickly shown to our room, which was better than expected with a beautiful view over the estuary. We were also booked into the restaurant at the time we wanted. The food and the service were both excellent, unlike in January the staff were very attentive, friendly and never left us waiting for anything. All in all a very enjoyable stay and I would highly recommend Salcombe Harbour Hotel. More...
Fantastic over night stay at Salcombe.|Greeted on arrival by very friendly, helpful staff & then shown to our room while our car was parked for us. |Our Estuary glimpse room with balcony was spotlessly clean with a lovely coastal feel & the comfiest bed ever!!! Complimentary Gin & sherry in the room too!!|Beautiful outdoor space where you can have a drink & take in the view, which we did on a gloriously sunny afternoon.|Dinner was good with a wide selection of fish dishes on offer (recommend the scallops) The dining area light, bright & airy with a well stocked bar. |Breakfast was equally as good & would highly recommend the full English. |A fabulous stay, didn’t want to leave & will definitely return. As always, superb service, charming staff, wonderful food, heavenly views, all combined to create a fabulous experience. This is how it should be done and they get it right every time. More...
Nice veranda out of the wind just to sit and have coffee.
Lovely hotel.Great location.Rooms aren’t huge - but then you are paying to be in Salcombe where house prices make London loom cheap! Good staff.Fantastic views from the balcony. More...
1st class from the moment we arrived. highly recommend
We had a meal in here and felt very pampered ! The food was beautifully presented and delicious and the staff were friendly and attentive.
Stayed at this hotel in January for one due to the close proximity to Salcombe Gin where we had booked a morning at gin school. ||On arrival we were treated by very friendly and professional staff who checked us in and escorted us to our room.||We had chosen a top floor room with balcony and estuary view which on a cold wet and windy Saturday in January I did question myself about the rationale, however in the morning the storm had passed leaving blue sky and an amazing view down the estuary to the sea.||The hotel has been finished to a reasonable standard although as an old building it creeks which is as to be expected.||The cleanliness was good and the complimentary gin and ice service was a bonus.||Breakfast sadly was disappointing, I have had better Premier Inn breakfasts, the coffee was poor quality and the food bland.||Would I stay again? Possibly if I was I going to Salcombe Gin again|| More...
This is a very good hotel. Service, food, comfort - all very good. Complimentary sherry and gin in the room with evening room delivery of ice and lemon is a nice touch. Restaurant is a nice room looking out over the estuary. There is also a terrace but no sun shades. Beautiful views over the estuary but slightly disappointed that from our first floor estuary view room, you look out over quite an expanse of grey metal roof. I think a second or third floor room might be better in this regard. Surprised the roof wasnt at least decked to give a better outlook. Parking is difficult but the staff are excellent at assisting and finding a space for you. Dont follow your satnav as it takes you through the town centre - small roads with many pedestrians. Overall recommended. More...
Wonderful location. Great views Very helpful reception staff.Dinner menu expensive with set menu being very limited choice. First room on top floor was very small and hot but we were moved to a bigger room on the 2nd floor. Porters worked hard to make the parking easy with the turntable for the cars. More...
The position was superb - food delicious - weather excellent!!!
We liked the bed in that it was very comfortable. That sheets and towels were replaced immediately and that the view from the bedroom window was amazing. The bathroom was decorated to a very high standard. The sealing was amazing, it was perfect. BUT the shape of the bath and lack of support, ( it was waisted) meaning that one was unable to turn over onto their knees to assist standing up and exiting the bath. The bath again lacked any supports eg. low curving grab handles half way along the top of the bath to enable a person to pull and therefore stand up. No consideration for elderly people. More...
We were in the area on holiday and I had pre booked an afternoon tea. We decided to park in Salcombe and walk up to the hotel as we knew parking was at a premium and reserved for guests staying at the hotel. Dad can't walk that far and it was much steeper and further than we had anticipated. I headed to the hotel and explained the situation and the receptionist had no hesitation in saying bring the car right down to the hotel entrance and leave the keys with us to park for you - such a relief.||||We arrived and were warmly welcomed into the restaurant even though we were early and had a drink each before ordering our afternoon tea which we all really enjoyed. Good quality and the scones and cakes were just perfect! All the staff in the restaurant were excellent and were happy we moved outside for a coffee which they bought out for us. ||||It was a beautiful day and we had perfect views over the estuary. We didn't feel rushed to leave at all. A perfect afternoon! Highly recommended! More...
We had a lovely stay at the Hotel. Great location, spotlessly clean, lovely room where our sea glimpse was much better than we anticipated with a small balcony. Lovely attention to detail in the rooms. The only negative which is why I haven't given 5 stars is the service in the restaurant. Very slow service, not what you expect for this standard of hotel. Waiting 30 minutes for eggs. Had to chase to be served drinks when we arrived. Breakfast choice could be improved as well. If you could improve in this area that would then get 5 stars from me. Spectacular location in the heart of Salcombe town centre
Beautiful setting and very friendly
Location is fantastic especially from our room but was disappointed with the slow service in the bar. Waited over 30 minutes just to get a drink. Tried to order at the bar was was directed to sit down and they would come and serve us. Some of the room items needed attention such as ripped curtains, broken and dirty bathroom fixtures and paint peeling off the wall. Not what you expect when paying over £300 a night. Also ordered champagne for the room on arrival which they forgot ! More...
Very nice, smart and sassy but definitely chain!
very chilled relaxed river estuary town.Nice to see.
Lovely relaxing spa, and fantastic views from the balconies. Clean, tidy and well maintained
Great food. Stunning views.
Great place to relax with friends, great outside sun deck if the weather good. Good food
My wife and I recently spent 2 nights here after our wedding. We would thoroughly recommend the hotel. The staff are friendly and nothing is too much trouble. We will definitely be returning!
Beautiful place made even better by their manager Becky, very professional operator who clearly knows how to look after people.
Amazing rooms with the the best view, and the coolest cinema room ever
Great place for food and drink and views over the harbour.
I cannot recommend enough. We had a wonderful mini honeymoon at Salcombe and I really felt the staff were so attentive and welcoming. We had a great time and I'll definitely be coming back again! More...
Nice location and decent food. But you get small portions for the price you pay.
Very nice hotel!
Bedienung im Restaurant war zum Teil gar nicht zuvorkommend und gut ausgebildet für das Hotelniveau..
What a lovely setting and ambience!Had a most delicious lunch there recently looking out at the wonderful view. Staff in restaurant and reception were all very welcoming and the service was great. The icing on the cake was when I left my shopping behind they kindly mailed it on to me. Would love to stay there one day and have the the full hotel and spa experience. More...

Wow, amazing hotel, feels like the South of France
One of the best in this area
Great area, great staff, great facilities but scrambled egg like frog spawn.
Love this place! Excellent rooms and food
Good food Staff very helpful
We spent a day using the spa and the hotel. The spa is a wonderfully relaxing space and well equipped in beautiful surroundings. We had a lovely afternoon tea, with prosecco, in the restaurant overlooking the river. The cakes(all of which were made in house) and the sandwiches were delightful. A staff member also showed us a few of the bedrooms which, I must say, were beautiful and on my next visit to Salcombe I wouldn’t hesitate to book A stay at this hotel. More...
Really enjoyed hotel and facilities. Not cheap but very relaxing
Great sized rooms; clean, fresh, excellent views and location. Spa is smaller than first expected given the size of the hotel - it was lovely on a quiet Thursday evening out of season but would imagine due to it’s size it’s not great in high season/weekends. Friendly helpful staff at dinner but the breakfast was disappointing - recommend going early or late as at peak times the staff can’t cope (no fruit juice, no butter, no milk & the table next to us never got their coffee!) Had a lovely 3 course Sunday lunch today with great views. Service was great and staff are friendly and welcoming! Would definitely recommend. Thank you!
We had a lovely relaxing stay this weekend at the Salcombe Harbour Hotel & Spa, beautiful location with a stunning room and 5 star luxury breakfast! Fabulous swimming pool, gym and spa and very friendly and welcoming staff. :) More...
Enjoyed every minute great service and staff
Good but avoid still water at table. .£4 quid for filtered tap water which having asked for tap was a bit of a piss take. Needless to say I got it removed from the bill . and food has gone down a bit too. its average. Worth staying if offering deals as spas usefully and of course the walks and view but will do B and B there .. eat next time at the Victoria pub in the hight at. Excellent food More...
Salcombe is a little seaside resort and is very pretty lots of small beaches to explore. Parking may be a problem it does have car parks but they fill up very fast you need to be early to find a place to park Salcombe has some nice little shops and pubs but it's very expensive we decided to have a drink and to pints of lager was 12 pounds
Relaxing and enjoyable stay. Staff very attentive and friendly especially restaurant/ bar team. The gastronomy and gin evening was an interesting experience. Great story how Salcombe gin company started even better was the opportunity to try the various gin cocktails. .St Clair for me please.Delicious and beautifullyn presented food . I think head chef forgave me for suggesting the rabbit spring rolls tasted like duck.. Love Salcombe. Love this hotel More...
Lovely weekend. Great massage, Gin & Gastronomy evening really good. Staff great too! Third stay at a Harbour Hotel ...... where next?
Love this spa it’s cosy, clean & good food
Could not find any faults! Attentive staff who made my birthday extra special, room upgrade and welcome drink on arrival, Buck’s Fizz at breakfast and a delicious dessert! Very clean throughout. Spa was lovely and relaxing, and had a great treatment. The food was amazing, good continental with lots of variety followed by cooked to order hot options. We had dinner at the Jetty and we both wanted steak so the waiter recommended we have chateaubriand which wasn’t even on the menu, and it was cooked so perfectly it was heaven! The cheese soufflé was also spot on. Really was top end food. Lots of little touches which were great like ice and lemon coming round at 6pm for the free gin in the room! Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff who were all very cheery and lovely. Would definitely recommend and would happily return after such a great experience! More...
Very welcoming staff at reception. Picturesque spot and clean and tidy amenities. Felt very welcome.
Brilliant service, lovely relaxing place to be.
Very lovely food and staff
Hotel and room very clean and helpful, friendly staff. Food in the restaurant wasn't the best (the lobster Mac and cheese is one to avoid). Breakfasts were nice and the location and views are worth a visit. The spa and gym areas are small but functional. The nice touch was the gin and Sherry in the room. More...
Popped in for a celebratory Afternoon Tea. Superb setting. Worth a visit.

Fantastic place to stay Food was great Room amazing complementary Gin and Sherry included Excellent service and amenities Recommend AAA
Just been downstairs to get a glass full of ice to go with my complimentary decanter of gin. 10 minutes later there's a knock on the door and there's a member of staff with an ice bucket and a plate of cut lemon and lime- what service!!!!
Stunning views, fab location, great food... would definitely recommend
Just Stunning! As soon as you walk into reception you know your in a high quality establishment, greeted with glass of champagne!
