A great local community facility. They have a small Aladdin's cave of a shop, and a separate tea room of you fancy a breakfast, lunch, or afternoon cuppa.

Very interesting place to visit or eat or both. Recommended! I enjoyed a coffee and chat in the Church with the knitting group.

Ì have visited St. Nicholas Place many times, both before and after the major restoration that followed the BBC architectural competition. In its time (and a very long time it has been) this amazing building has served as a school, as a pub (The Saracen's Head) and as a community centre. The timber structure, dating back to Tudor times, still stands firm and has now been secured thanks to modern engineering. The ancient woodwork is still very visible but the new facilities - toilets, restaurant/cafe, gift shop make it entirely useable as a venue for classes, meetings, exhibitions. Worth a visit simply as a 400-hundred-year-old survivor but also offering interesting events - and the coffee is great! More...
