I'm really on the fence with this review. Most of the food was amazing. Layers of flavors and spices that were really incredible. However, the service was horrible. There was only one person working. But, we were literally the only people there. She took our order without writing it down, then returned a few minutes later to ask again what we wanted. The food came out at different times, so some of it was cold when we began eating. They also completely forgot my empanadas until I reminded them.BUT, the food! Everything was fresh and delicious! They even had house-made tortilla chips. The hot sauces were also very good and actually had decent heat. The tacos were amazing and packed full of meat.Bottom line, the food is amazing, but based on the service we experienced I hope the place can stay in business. More...

Food is good.Is just a lady in the kitchen that is rude with customers. One day, I went and ordered ceviche and it was spoiled I could tasted and I told the server which she was super helpful and nice and I told her that and she took to the kitchen and then this lady from the kitchen told me that it couldn’t be spoiled which I tasted! He’s attitude was super rude! She didn’t even say sorry or trying to offer another plate! More...

This place is a little gem! I wasn't sure what to expect on the menu but their choices are many and delicious! My hubby ordered the Peruvian paella which was hot, fresh and plentiful he took half of it home. I had the 6 tacos plate that came with choice of meats. I am plant based and the chef had no problem creating tacos with fresh grilled squash, veggies and pico. Their side salsas are very unique with interesting flavor plenty of heat. Sooooo good! Latin American, Peruvian and Mexican dishes prepared with a nice change and step away from everyday Mexican plates! Clean cute place with very friendly staff. More...

This place is awesome. The atmosphere is laid back and if you live in the area, like we do, you might not even know it's there after passing by for years. We had the yucca frites, and empanadas to start. The empanadas were awesome. Great texture on the dough, and the filling was also great. It was served with a green sauce for dipping that was nice. The yucca fries were awesome, needed salt and the dipping sauce they come with was just ok. My son asked for ketchup and they were much better. I got 6 street tacos, 3 beef and 3 chicken. They were ok, but I'd rather have a regular Mexican Street Taco from other places. My son had a steak, egg, fries, and rice dinner meal and loved it. Ended with desert which was fried tortilla chips with cinnamon, sugar, chocolate and caramel drizzle with ice cream. It was huge and like 5 dollars. The service was great as well. Only downside was that the marinated beef hearts were not available. They marinate them for 48 hours and they were still in the marinade. Would definitely recommend and will be back. More...

This place is SO GOOD. An odd neighborhood when you first drive up but don't let it deter you! Been here a few times and every dish I've gotten is excellent, but my favorite is the causa. It's tangy and savory and the chicken and veggie seasoning is delicious. It's an app but definitely filling enough for a meal. I recommend getting a few dishes and sharing though! Also a good drink selection and tasty Michelada. One of my favorite spots in Reno. More...

I love this little joint, super casual, only open at dinner.. Â Order their amazing special homemade green ahi verde with freshly made hot chips! !! So yummy!! If your wondering what in the heck to order to sample a delicious array of their menu, I highly recommend their fish ceviche (the flavor is so amazing and it's beautiful! And get their carne estilo Argentinian. The flavor of this thin sliced marinated flank steak with chimichurri sauce is absolutely mouthwatering! It comes with Yucca and a dipping sauce, honestly the Yucca is a little dry, but is a much healthier version of a potato and once you dip it it's better. Also order some fried plantains!! Perfect amount of food to share between 2 hungry people!! Bon appetite', the owners are actually Peruvian!! Go support this great local restaurant! My mouth is watering writing this!! More...

One of the many food experiences missing from our scene are the cuisines of South and Central America. Peru, Argentina, Colombia, Guatemala and many others are just not represented well, if at all, so I personally appreciate Sabor for bringing it to us and doing it so well. The majority of the menu is Peruvian, which is fine by me! They've got many of the classics, and they do these so well. We started our night with yucca frita, ceviche and the Sabor causa, seasoned mashed potato with avocado and a protein, in this case shrimp, layered in between. The yucca frita was a fairly small order, though delicious, especially the huancaina dipping sauce. The ceviche mixto was chock full of seafood, including squid, in a deliciously spicy Leche de tigre. I wish there was a bit more sweet potato and crispy corn (cannot remember the name!) in the dish, but that's minor. I really enjoyed it!Round 2... Jalea (mixed fried seafood) and chicken Empanadas. Damn those empanadas and chimichurri! So delicious and clearly made fresh to order. Ate them too fast for a photo! The Jalea was also masterfully fried with the lightest cornmeal type coating and delectable seafood inside.I will Be back and soon! You need to go! More...

I have really wanted to try this new restaurant for awhile now I just haven't convinced anyone to try it with me. I figured the dishes I wanted to try were for multiple people. Well I stopped in one Saturday afternoon alone, I was amazed. There is only about 10 tables and half had other guests in them. Quiet dining not alot of loud noise. I was greeted as I walked in told I could sit anywhere. Server brought me the menus followed by chips and sauce. I ordered the Pisco sour as it was stated to be the signature cocktail of Peruvian origin. It was very refreshing, light and tangy and delicious. I ordered the Parrillada which has grilled chorizo(1 patty), flank steak (2pcs)and chicken (2pcs)accompanied by cactus, tortillas, quesadillas, and 2 kinds of salsa. My eyes were much bigger than my stomach.I didnt order an appetizer due to the size of the dish I ordered so the 25 minute wait for my food was quiet and spent mostly on my phone. I strongly suggest to bring a friend or order an appetizer. But the wait was well worth it! The chorizo was flavorful and grilled well. The chicken has a great marinade and was juicy but the star of the meal was the steak. I will say this was hands down one of the best cooked flank steaks I have ever had. So tender, juicy and just melt in your mouth delicious. I could only eat a third of the meal but I asked for a to go container and throughly enjoyed the rest of the meal at home.I definitely recommend you try this place out you will. not be disappointed. I cant wait to try the Aroz con Mariscos next time and maybe a dessert. More...

For our first time at Sabor, hubby and I decided to get a couple items to share. We started with the empanadas and the Sabor causa. The empanadas were tasty-lots if filling, crispy shell outside and still tender inside. I do wish there was more egg and olive in them-the ones I had didn't have any that I could find, but my husband did have one olive. The flavor was good and the sauce served with them was delicious. They were very rich but our drinks-the chilcano-did a great job of cutting through the unctuousness. The Sabor causa was the star of the meal. Hands down. This is the reason for 4 stars. If I was only reviewing this dish, 5 stars. Smooth, creamy mashed potato cakes filled with avocado and shrimp (and a touch of mayo) topped with more avocado. Yes please! I could have eaten just that and been very happy. Our main was the arroz con mariscos (seafood paella). The flavor was good and the amount of seafood was plentiful. But, it was lacking the crunchy, tasty, burnty bits that I always want in a good paella. I also found the calamari slightly chewier than I would like. Overall a good meal. I plan to go back and try more dishes soon. More...

Great little restaurant with 12 tables, causal decor. I'm a big ceviche fan, so....really enjoyed their fish ceviche which my sweet server offered me "regular" or "spicy". She explained that the "Tiger Sauce" at the bottom of the bowl carried the heat and would make me stronger ;-)Ceviche bowl was ample portion with cubed fish, red onion, soft & crunchy corn, and sweet potato. Â Couldn't resist trying the "Nachos with vanilla ice cream dessert.". Nachos were like a mini churros -- warm, crisp chips glazed with cinnamon sugar and drizzled with chocolate sauce and strawberry chunks--fantastic! Â Zone I need to get back to the fitness center... Honestly, their food (from a single meal) probably deserves a 5 stars. The ceviche was the best I have ever had. I have dined and several other Peruvian restaurants and the ceviche is generally good. This was superior in that it was served in citrus juices. Maybe too acidic for some palates but excellent to me. The green salsa with chips was a very tasty, tangy, offering as well. The menu itself was unique for the Western U S as most Latin food gets confused with Mexican food which predominates in the West. The menu has offerings from several South American countries and that variety is part of my rating. The menu includes appropriate variations on tropical drinks as well. I sampled the Paloma; a very citrus version of a Margarita. I enjoyed it thoroughly.if you are a foodie looking for something a little different, try Sabor. If you are a little conservative try the fish tacos. Service was polite and attentive and all that can be expected of this small establishment. Give them a try. More...

What a find! This little place has some of the best Latin food I've ever had - Argentine, Peruvian, and Mexican. We started with sharing the ceviche mixto - it's huge - which was more than excellent - very fresh and not over marinated -- perfect. My companion had Jalea - batttered fish, shrimp, and calamari - again a huge portion and perfectly done. Definitely an improvement from its prior incarnation! Â This is probably my favorite Latin option in Reno. Â Everything was cooked well and had a distinct flavor, without it being oversalted (maybe I actually would've preferred a bit *more* salt, even though I don't really like too much salt). Â I had the arroz, otherwise known as the "Peruvian paella". Â It was tasty: the sauce coated the rice nicely without being overwhelming, and it had a nice aroma to it. Â My friend had the parillada, and that was also quite tasty: the chorizo was among the best sausage I ever tasted, and the cactus was well cooked and still maintained its texture. Â Everything was well seasoned and pleasant and seemed fairly authentic. More...
