We have used Ruth Livingston on five projects covering a span of 25 years, which speaks volumes about how much we respect and appreciate her design capabilities.

Most recently we hired Ruth to assist with a remodel of our newly acquired 45-year old home in 2010 and to design a newly constructed 930 sf addition in 2011 (office suite, bathroom and large storage room). For both projects Ruth: (1) designed the physical spaces, (2) recommended finishes and fixtures, (3) purchased furnishings and accessories, and (4) reupholstered some furniture and modified some of our existing furniture to fit in the new space. She did a terrific job on all aspects of the jobs, but what was particularly impressive was how she was able to transform a large built-in window seat from our prior master bedroom into a built-in couch with side tables in our new family room, and two night stands that were to large for our new bedroom into a beautiful single cabinet.

The first time we used Ruth was in 1987 when, as newly weds, we moved into a new townhouse at Point Tiburon where, in addition to identifying furniture, she designed a built-in couch, TV/Stereo cabinet, bar, and "cocoon" bed. She also specified, purchased and installed upgraded flooring, fixtures, wall coverings and window treatments. Our little townhouse was so spectacular that it was published in a prestigous design magazine.

In 1990 we moved to the Peninsula and lease a house in order to locate or build our "forever" home to raise our children. We hired Ruth to make this temporary, but larger, home livable for one-to-two years. Ruth was able to use all of our existing furniture and, where needed, purchase additional pieces that complemented what we already had beautifully.

In 1991 we found our forever home. It was much larger and, though newly constructed, needed substantial upgrades. Again, Ruth worked with us to identify furnishings, including some custom built-ins, that worked well with what we already owned. She also upgraded some of the lighting fixtures and finishes. Several years later we used her to remodel our master bedroom and bath.

During our 25 year association and friendship with Ruth we have gone from a small home for newlyweds to a large home to raise our three children, and to small again as we "right-sized" for our retirement years. Through these transitions, Ruth has been able to maintain her elegant contemporary style while adjusting to our changing requirements. We still proudly use some of the furnishings we purchased through Ruth 25 years ago, some as is, some reupholstered and some reconfigured. We cannot recommend her more highly! More...
