RURU, I love you! We called ahead to see if they were kid friendly, the man on the phone was very nice and of course welcomed us with open arms! Our server was Anna, she was so nice, patient and helpful with all of our needs. To start, we had questions about the margaritas, she told us we couldn't really go wrong that they all were tasty (no bottled sours here, BONUS!!!!) she also mentioned you could add a fresh purée in any of the margaritas, sweet! We chose to go with plain lime and at first we were like dang these are small, but it's 100% quality over quantity. They were simply perfect, the rock or frozen were both very tasteful. They also have a handful of different tequilas to choose from, we had a JAJA margarita and it was AMAZING!  We shared the three amigos appetizer which was queso, salsa and guac - between the two of us we really loved it! It is a great starter, especially with the warm chips :) My husband  has the chicken burrito, he really loved it! He usually would never eat beans but he didn't even mind them and ate mostly all of it. On their menu they have quite a few vegetarian options. By simply taking off a few ingredients (mostly the cheese) they become vegan friendly, ta da! They have a few taco options, a burrito and I went with the bowl option. I decided to add tofu because where do vegans get their protein? (Haha kidding!!) My food was.. hm just okay, it just wasn't as great as I was expecting because everything else was so perfect. I picked out most of the beans, but it just seemed to be missing something. The tofu was definitely not needed or really wanted at this point. RuRu's Tacos + Tequila hands down my favorite place that I visited during my trip to Charleston. I stumbled across the restaurant while my family and I were on the hunt for food. We realized that we hadn't had Mexican food during this trip just just so it was the perfect place to check out. Because the weather was slated to rain that day the downtown area was nearly empty so we were the only customers in the restaurant for a solid hour. I later learned that when it rains in Charleston it is heavy so most residents know when to stay inside.The inside of the restaurant is beautiful. It is huge inside so you could easily come with whatever sized party and easily be accommodated. The staff from the moment we walked into the restaurant was super friendly and the bartender was very engaging. He even gave my sister a free birthday shot when we casually mentioned we were celebrating her birthday early. The menu is a standard Mexican restaurant catered towards tourists. You know the basic dishes would be fire but the more complex dishes probably wouldn't be the top priority for me to try. I settled on a quesadilla because it had grilled steak and a berry margarita. The food arrived pretty quickly and the drinks arrived quicker. The margarita was pretty tasty and the bartender added a fun smiley face to the second margarita that I ordered! The food was very delicious and the food servings are big. The quesadilla was easily two servings of food which was a plus for me because I was able to take the other half home to munch on later in the day. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at RuRu's Taco +. Corey is the man! Went in for dinner and had the 3 amigos appetizer..Soo good! Main was a mix of tacos. all their items are phrases from movies and TV shows I had the fat man in a little coat and she's a clinger also the Korean beef one, I forgot what it was called

My wife and I stopped in for dinner on a busy Saturday evening.  We were looking for something other than seafood.  We had to wait about 15 minutes for a table.  There was a nice bar to sit and wait if you desired.My wife and I scored a booth and quickly began with "Let it Rain" which was the tortilla chips and salsa. Lots of chips. Nicely salted.  Salsa was good.  However, I have to say we couldn't enjoy our chips because our food came out so quickly.  That sounds ridiculous.  I ordered the "Shake N' Bake" which was the steak fajitas and my wife ordered the "You had me at hello," which was a vegetarian bowl.There was no shortage of cilantro flavored steak but a shortage of flour tortilla shells.  I had to ask for more which wasn't a problem.  The jasmine red rice was tasty.  My wife enjoyed her bowl which included mushrooms, cauliflower, rice, zucchini, beans, amongst other things.  The prices were very reasonable and the portions were all very generous.  The service was excellent and friendly.  The restaurant is located on the main drag and easily walkable from many of the hotels in the area. I've been to RuRu's a few times since living in Charlotte and their ambiance is unbeaten! Many times I feel like I'm on vacation rather than going out to eat in Charlotte. My favorite feature of theirs is the patio space! It's always so fun when the weather is nice outside. For my last visit I attended with a friend during work hours. It was between the lunch and dinner rush so we were able to be sat immediately. Our server was attentive and handled my needs before I had to opportunity to ask! It was almost as if he could read my mind. I ordered three amigos, which is queso, salsa and guacamole, the Bueller... Bueller quesadilla, which is a chicken quesadilla, and two house margaritas. Their margaritas are always so strong and delicious, I usually can only handle one! The dips and quesadillas were hot, fresh, and delicious as well. The only reservation I have with this restaurant so far is I feel like their food is a little expensive for what they're serving and I certainly think chips and salsa should be free as well. There also aren't many taco Tuesday specials offered from what I've experienced. Aside from that, while this may not be a regular "Taco Tuesday" hot spot for me, it's still one of my favorites for good food, good drinks, and good vibes! More...

This place is a cozy little spot in midtown. I went and got three different tacos. They had a few different vegetarian options, which was great. The server was pleasant. The tacos themselves were wonderful and had a lot of flavor. The parking situation was not the best because I was not familiar with the area. There is only a small amount of parking where the GPS takes you, which is actually the back of the building. They had a larger lot around back that was on a different street. Fun place with good choice of tacos. Great drinks & excellent service! Marinated skirt steak & house salsa are delicious. Queso was good, we added more lime & salt to our guacamole. Came here Monday (November 11) for lunch. The restaurant wasn't that busy and I was seated immediately. I ordered a strawberry margarita and guacamole with chips and salsa as an appetizer. The margarita was OK and I enjoyed the taste of the guacamole. The salsa was decent and could've been spicier but I do get they have to cater to everyone. I ordered 2 chicken tacos without the sauce on top (I just put salsa on) and while they were good I should've ordered corn tortillas but it totally slipped my mind. Talk about a margarita you can feel ! WHEW! I only had one frozen frank the tank margarita , it was so delicious and worth the 9 bucks entirely . I'm used to going to place where they have expensive drinks I can't feel and taste like only juice or soda which is so disrespectful lol so today I was feeling like a TACO TUESDAYYY CONNOISSEUR  I found this snazzy place on google when I typed in taco Tuesday near me . Great reviews and great customer service right upon entry. I was asked if I wanted table or bar seating. I decided to be sat at the bar where I was helped by a lady named Nine, she was nice and helpful she told me about the taco Tuesday taco special which were the fried oyster tacos and the carnita tacos . Omg they were so mouthwatering and juicy . I've never had an oyster taco but that was one for the books , juicy and the slaw and aioli compliments . The shrimp quesadilla (meet my nieces) was spectacularly good. It was just so flavorful. Unfortunately, the house margarita (friend zone) was disappointing. It was a very small portion and tasted just ok. As a place with "tequila" in its name, I expected better. Went to RuRu's for taco Tuesday & I had the best time!They will usually have one taco for $2 but all of their tacos are under $5. We started our meal with chips and queso (a very decent portion). Amazing tacos. Can't go wrong with any of the options. They have a solid drink menu too with good cocktails. The only bad thing is if it's crowded (which is a pretty good possibility) and you sit in the main dining area you'll probably find it way too cramped as they put tables extremely close to each other. This makes it very loud. All the tables are talking over each other. If I wanted to go to a crowded place where I have to significantly raise my voice in order for the person I'm with to hear me I'd go to a night club. Overall - great food and a good outside atmosphere but inside is down right horrible if there is a crowd. Could've used better sound absorbing materials when designing the dining area. More...

1st time at RuRu’s, and it was a great experience- we will definitely go back! The service was professional, and our server Brandon checked in on us at perfect timing intervals. The manager, bar tender, and other staff stopped by to make sure everything was good, as well. We started with the 3 amigos appetizer: chips, salsa, guacamole, and Queso Blanco ( pic attached). All were freshly prepared and distinctive - great flavors. I neglected to get pics of our meal, but my wife really enjoyed the “it’s all ball bearings,” marinated grilled chicken breast bowl, and I had a sampling of their tacos; cilantro marinated skirt steak, sautéed southwest shrimp, and crispy Mahi Mahi.
