Working together with families and schools to help children feel better about their lives.
I love to meet new people and enjoy the challenge of teasing out the concerns.

I have worked in many teams but now that I have more time of my own I am able to work independently.

I have 40 years of experience as a teacher and 17 as a therapist. I have also raised my own family. I understand many if the issues confronting young people and will be happy to help. I have a range of support mechanisms for myself and follow the BAPT code of ethics. I have a current enhanced DBS and public liability insurance. I regularly attend training to ensure I keep abreast of current theory and practice.

Working with children with a range of issues causing distress or behaviour concerns. Using play, a child's natural medium to help children have a place to safely explore their feelings and think about changes. I come to the child at home or at school bringing my mobile toy box with me

Providing advice and support to schools or parents where behaviour is causing concern. Working together with carers to help think about the background to behaviour and the needs the behaviour indicates. Developing changes that can help meet the needs of the child.

Providing training for groups working with children. training based around understanding the variety of issues that affect children and families. Training can be bespoke but might cover; attachment, ADHD, background to behaviour, Domestic Abuse. etc.

Training to support carers or school support workers to become the therapeutic change agent for their child. This is a directive piece of work teaching carers to offer non directive special play to their child. This can facilitate attachment and support positive relationships. The play can offer insights into how the child is feeling and the skills learned in offering the sessions can be generalised to every day life
