I googled makeup classes in NY and stumbled upon SHESPOKE. Without knowing much about the place, I thought I'd give it a try, so I called and made a one-on-one appointment and was paired with Claudia. Our "Ransack" session was AMAZING. It completely blew my expectations! I wear makeup everyday but wanted to learn how to better apply my own products with a focus on contouring and highlighting. Claudia knew where I wanted to focus but still went through how to make my eyebrows look incredible, how to wear a basic eye look, and what lip shade would look best with my complexion and skin tone. She went through very thoroughly how to properly apply my foundation, concealer, toner, contour, highlight, blush, and bronzer. She even helped me write notes on how to do it. WOW it was AMAZING! Claudia was SO much fun to work with, was so sweet, patient, and gave me all the time I needed. And most importantly of all, she knew what the hell she was doing. She's been a makeup artist for like 7+ years she said and it showed because she was incredibly knowledgeable about all products and different ways to use things. She also gave me incredible insight on to which brushes go with what. I'm so grateful I was paired with her and hope to have another one-on-one with her in the future. I would recommend Claudia and SHESPOKE to ANYONE who wants to learn makeup! All the other ladies who worked there were so so kind and sweet as well. No products were pushed on me and I didn't feel pressured to buy everything we used. I took two of my friends here last night and woke up this morning thinking "I have to write a review for this place immediately. " We had the absolute best time and I'm already thinking about booking my next appointment. For starters, the quality of the products are incredible. I made a custom tinted lip balm and it's the absolute best one I own (and I own a lot.) Also, the women who work there are patient, fun and knowledgable - they spent time on each individual person making suggestions and minor tweaks because they want you to love your experience and product. They don't try to rush you out in ten minutes like a "competitor across the street that I'm not going to name right now" (ahem.) I booked Rouge as part of my sister's Bachelorette weekend in NYC and we had a great time! Five of us made custom lipsticks, two girls got lashes, and one girl did a make-up refresh service. Jessey helped me book all of the appointments. She was very helpful in answering all of my e-mailed questions in a timely manner. We got complimentary champagne when we got to Rouge and it was a very laid-back, relaxing environment. Making the custom lipstick was a lot of fun. I had a specific shade in mind and Esther was super patient with me as I kept requesting little changes to the color as she was mixing it. I love that they keep your custom shade on file so you can always order it in the future once you run out. She also did the make-up service for my friend, which came out gorgeous and lasted through the night. I got a matte finish lipstick which I put on that afternoon after we left Rouge and it lasted through dinner and late-night karaoke! This was a really fun, unique idea for the Bachelorette party and I definitely would recommend coming here! More...
