I purchased this as a gift for my husband and he loved it. The trainer pilot was very personable and certainly did a great job in explaining the program. The flight lasted over an hour and m husband had the chance to see many of the great LA sites while getting a taste of flying a plane.We will do this again! More...

Sometime last December I saw these guys listed on one of the daily deal websites.. Knowing my schedule was going to be relatively open near the holidays, I thought it'd be a fun way to spend some time out of the house- and so I jumped at the chance to do something I might never get the chance to do otherwise. 2 weeks back, I gifted an introductory flying lesson with Rotor F/x to my husband on his birthday. I found them on groupon, looked them up on yelp and decided to call them to gather further details. The person I spoke to was extremely cordial and even offered a better deal than the one offered on groupon, thus customizing it to the experience I was looking for. I signed up for the lesson right away. On the day of the lesson, the experience was fun and exhilarating for my husband and I. The instructor was thorough in his teaching and my husband got a lot of hands on experience on the flight. What an amazing experience! I bought a flight lesson for my friend who has flown in the past and is working on his pilot license! I was able to sit along in his flight and tape him along the way. My experience with the single lesson with ROTOR FX was absolutely fantastic. I wish the prices were a little less or the groupon discount was a little better. My husband gave it to me as a mother's day gift & I just loved flying the plane. I was the co-pilot & the pilot with me was absolutely fantastic. My husband and I took the flight and flight training provided by Rotor F/X. I was expecting a brief tutorial and then the flight instructor getting us in the air and we would "steer" the plane for a few minutes before the instructor would land us again. It was a much more interactive process. In the air the instructor left the "flying" to us, giving us hints about the horizon line and how to line up with the freeway and landing. My father's 75th Birthday was fantastic due to his experience with Roto F/X! He always wanted to fly and it was within my means to do so thanks to your generous online offer. We were impressed with the level of professionalism and attention as my dad might never have the opportunity to fly again!But here's the real kicker to our experience with Roto F/X. When I call a few weeks later inquiring about the on-board video that was supposed to accompany my dad's flight, it was with regret that the video had been lost. Roto F/X immediately stepped up and offered my Dad another flight free of charge! I have been flight training here in addition to renting their airplanes for local and cross country trips. I have to say these guys are on point! The airplanes are always hangared (nice and cool in the summer) fueled and ready to go! Jay and Claudia are always very welcoming and accomodating and thus the hangar just feels like home. I wanted to do something special for my special birthday so I decided to fly a Helicopter. I called Rotor F/X . They set me up with the date and time and assured me all will go well. My girlfriend got me a 60-minute flight lesson for my birthday and it was more than I can ask for. Gil, my instructor, was very pleasant to work with. He answered all my questions about planes and flight. He was very helpful in showing me how to inspect the plane prior to taking off. During the whole experience, I couldn't stop smiling. I love ROTOR F/X. When I first called them to inquire about rates, general info, etc. the girl I spoke with was friendly, helpful & professional. Good customer service. We decided to take the "Santa Monica something-or-other(?)" tour. (There is a specific name, but I don't remember it.)All the pilots & people around were very friendly and the guy we got (Mark) was great. The tour is SOOOO FUN!!! OMG! Seriously, WOW. It was so much better than I even expected. I was nervous as we prepared for take off, but it went so smoothly that by the time we lifted off I was fine. We were so impressed by how low we got to fly. You can see everything in detail! I won't list all the landmarks we flew over (that's somewhere on their site), but it was AWESOME!! Flying over the Santa Monica Pier was my favorite. The flight was so smooth too...the scenery was just BEAUTIFUL!! In fact after we landed the pilot said to one of the other pilots "I think I heard the word "beautiful" up there about 100 times." haha...well, it was!! This is not in my price range as an all the time thing, but it is inexpensive enough to do once in awhile for an amazingly fun time.
