We've been going training with Pete for over a year now with our 5 yr German shorthaired pointer, Bodie. We got Bodie as a rescue dog 2 years ago. He'd had 2 previous owners and a history of fighting with dogs that he lived with. In truth we were completely unprepared for how to control any aggression that he was showing towards other dogs that didn't give him space. After about 8 months of trying different trainers we found Rossway dog training. From the very first lesson Pete gave us hope that we would be able to get our beautiful boy to behave in the way that was not a threat to other dogs. We go to weekly group general obedience lessons and fortnightly gundog classes. We love it, and Bodie loves it (well, he loves gundog - he puts up with obedience). The most important thing is that when we are out walking we feel in control, even if other dogs around us are not, and we are more relaxed for it and able to enjoy all the benefits of having a dog in our family. Thanks Pete and team. More...

When I adopted Dobby (from South Korea) I did not understand how smashed both of us were. As pieces of two giant puzzels we found each other at Shiphol airport one year ago. None of our patterns could be seen and we added the confusion by throwing all our pieces in a shared paper bag called life. It was hard to find even two matching pieces and I grew more and more confused. I found Rossway and I can tell you Pete is a master of puzzels!!! Not only did he pull out all the pieces from the bag; he organized them and found ways to build one, whole picture of two smashed ones and he added colors, called joy, to every piece he glued together. I can now see a beginning of a painting, Lesson by lesson I can feel the bond between me and Dobby growing stronger. We still have a long way to go but now we have a path to follow and a light showing us the way through the woods. I am so grateful for everything I receive and I can honestly recommend Pete and Rossway Dog Training School.Eva & Dobby More...

We've been seeing Pete for 9 months now and every day is a learning curve for me and my dog. Otto is by no means a perfect dog, a troublesome terrier, but he is 100% better socialised and far more pleasurable to walk. We went to extreme lengths to avoid contact with other dogs but Pete made it perfectly clear that as I had my dog on a lead and under control the fault was not with me. Pete is absolutely brilliant, and you have to be if you are a world class dog trainer like him. Our 6 month old rescue puppy was very nervous to begin with and growled at almost everything she saw. She is now in her 6th week and her attitude now is a lot different from when she started. Pete is the best of the best and I would recommend him to any dog owner in the world. We have been taking our dog Elly to Pete's Thursday afternoon class since April 2014, I must say the improvement with Elly has been fantastic. We took Elly on from the Chitern Dog Rescue after we both fell in love with her, She was already a very nice and affectionate dog but we thought that she was a bit timid and we could see that she had potential, So after hearing about Rossway through the rescue centre went & met Pete, I must say it was a good decision as Elly has come in "Leaps & Bounds" She is now a confident little dog, this is all down to Pete's methods, training routines and knowledge which he has passed on to my Wife who also puts maximum effort in to Elly's training - the result is that we have a Happy, well mannered dog who is a pleasure to walk ,meet other dogs and people, mind you mischief is never far away given a chance !! Dog-dog is a rescue dog who had been ill-treated, until my son and daughter in-law rescued him from Spain. While they went back in Spain for a month they asked me to look after Dog-dog. Although he is a sweetheart round the house, meeting other dogs on walks was an absolute nightmare after Dog-dog was frightened by an incident with two “out of control” dogs in our local park. (Even before that, walks were hard work because Dog-dog pulled and jumped up at me.) I explained the problem to Pete and that I only had Dog-dog with me for 4 weeks, so I couldn't commit to long-term training. He kindly arranged an "emergency 1-1 session" to assess Dog-dog - and me!! He quickly identified some issues and even after that first session I noticed a difference in how Dog-dog and I interacted. Pete then integrated us into one of his group classes so that Dog-dog could mix with other dogs in a safe environment and I'm delighted at how well it went. The other dog owners were welcoming and understanding of our unusual situation and I'm looking forward to another group session before Dog-dog goes home from his holiday with me. If I had a dog of my own I wouldn't hesitate to book a full course with Pete, having seen the difference he has already made to Dog-dog and I. More...

Having already tried other dog trainers and not really getting anywhere and dare I say even considering trying to re-home our nervous aggressive springer (lunging, snapping, barking at every dog we came across), we still don’t know what we would have done if we hadn’t found Pete and his team. Yes, you have to go with an open mind and be prepared to put the work in, but if you do you DEFINITELY get results. Starting off with the one-on-one sessions with Pete, Scamp slowly became less nervous and picked up the basics and reached a point where he could join the group sessions. Everyone there had a story and all of them were a credit to Pete’s training as they had all come through their problems; which gave us hope for Scamp! You also learn not to be embarrassed when you struggle with something or your dog misbehaves as everyone has been there. It doesn’t happen overnight though so be prepared to work hard. Now after over two years of attending Pete's classes Scamp is a different dog (not perfect all the time, but no dog is). There’s no having to avoid every single dog walker, he doesn’t have to wear a muzzle, can be walked off the lead and is more relaxed, obedient and above all HAPPY. And it’s not just the dog that benefits, as an owner I have become more confident in my dog handling as a result. The only problem is in February we moved to Norfolk and are yet to find anyone who is as good a trainer. But what we have learnt from Pete and the training we had done helped so much with the move and with dealing with the unruly dogs of North Norfolk. Every time we do venture back down we still take Scamp back for a bit of training in one of his group sessions, it’s one of the things we miss most since our move! More...

After a couple of 1-1 sessions with Pete, alongside the group sessions she soon found her manners again and I got my confidence back with her. We attend classes every week which we both enjoy doing. Ruby has achieved her Kennel Club Good Citizens Bronze and Silver awards and we are now working towards the Gold. This is something that we could never have achieved without Pete's help and training techniques. I now have a well trained and well mannered Rottweiler and she is a pleasure to take out on walks. My Staffordshire Bull Terrier/ Labrador Cross Chaya is a fantastic dog but had an incident that caused to to be unpredictable and aggressive around some other dogs and quite difficult to walk to heel. I worked with three other Dog Behaviourists and Trainers before working with Pete at Rossway. None of these trainers had any solutions whatsoever, all they could do was teach Clikka training (Absolutely useless, unless you just want your dog to do something for a treat), they couldn't even get her to walk to heel, all they recommended was different leads and harnesses to little or no avail. With regards to behaving with other dogs they had no clue. These are people who claim to be qualified! My first meeting with Pete I knew he was different, we started with an initial assessment and from there he recommended some one to one work. Even during the assessment he identified key issues that needed to be improved and how he was planning to solve them. I was really impressed by his friendly manner and even more so by his knowledge and professionalism I had Pete as my last hope for Chaya and in one conversation he showed me there might be light at the end of the tunnel.During our one to one lessons we worked on getting Chayas attention and behaviour improved and then introduced her to other dogs. The lessons and a lot of hard work started to pay off. In fact her heel work was sorted after lesson 1!!Once graduating from the one to one onto the group lessons we now needed to work with other dogs. This brought new issues and more hard work, but Peter was there with us every step of the way reassuring me during the tough parts of the lesson and congratulating both of us when we showed improvement. At no point during any of this time did I lose faith as his confidence in us and constant support was unwavering. We are 4 months in now and Chayas' improvement is incredible, she is calm around other dogs and quick to respond if bad behaviour is pointed out. There is still work to do but from someone who had almost given up on his dog I now can see what a beautiful family member she is.Pete is a fantastic trainer and person who gives his life to working with dogs and there owners, he lives and breathes dog training and will do everything he can to create a fantastic relationship between dog and owner.
