How can someone tell if their loft is suitable for conversion?
These are the points that we look for when considering a loft conversion;
What is the customers budget and expectaions?
Is the internal existing height of the loft less than 2400mm?
If height is less than 2400mm can the floor be lowered and if so by how much height can be gained?
Are there any planning restrictions on the property. Is the house in a conservation area?
Does the roof have a gable or hip?
What is the pitch of the roof?
Can the stairs up to the loft be fitted in a sensible position?
What type of foundations on the property? If piled foundations then loft conversion is unlikely as the piles may fail.
Run us through the different stages in the loft conversion process - what’s involved?
Measured and photographic survey
Check foundations of the existing property are sufficient to support the additional weight of a loft conversion
Check existing lintels over doors, windows and any structural openings especially knock throughs are adiquate
Party wall agreements with adjoining neighbours
Build over agreement if an adopted sewer is within 3M of the property
Planning permission - Certificate of lawfulness or a full planning application
Building regulations architectural and structural design drawings and calculations
Produce lighting, heating , switches and sockets layout drawings for the quote
Confirm the fixed price quote based on approved drawings and the specification
Confirm the date to start for the building work,
Provide a schedule of works and a payment schedule

From February 1988 to April 2000.
During my twelve years at Tesco I worked on all of the store formats from super stores to express and metro. I was involved in the Market Hall concept, Design Standards and Format Planning where CAD models were created to assist store planners in producing store layout more efficiently.
Dixons Stores Group
From February 2000 to March 2002.
I joined DSG on a rolling contract as a designed initially working on the Dixons brand but later I was seconded into the Currys team as I had extensive experience of roll out programs for superstore refits.
Ground floor rear extension - Brookwood, Woking.
We designed a ground floor rear kitchen / dining room extension for our client under permitted development. Planning was granted as expected and building regulations approval was just a formality. We provided electrical and heating drawings and a fixed price quote for the building work. The client approved our quote and the building works started. We were asked to included additional work during the build including a refurbished family bathroom on the first floor, and Indian Stone patio, lay new flooring throughout the ground floor and remodel the lounge. We also project managed the relocation of the electric and gas meters and a new stop cock. The client purchased a kitchen through our account at Magnet Trade and received almost 64% discount overall. The project completed on budget and within the agreed time scale with the extras included above. We received a great review from the client about 12 months after the building work and snagging period had completed, as the client wanted to live with the extension to really appreciate just how much of a positive impact the extension had on him and his families lives.
New oak clad triple garage - Sacombe, Herts
In November 2016 we received instructions from a client to design a triple garage. The garage needed to be insulated, fully functional with an under floor vehicle lift for maintenance and to look visually beautiful. A 10M bore hole test confirmed the soil was clay and with trees in the neighbours garden less than 2M from the proposed garage, a piled foundation solution was the only sensible option. The build cost jumped up by over £35,000 pushing the overall building work costs well over £125,000. Planning approval was granted on appeal and building regulations drawings were simple ratification of our architectural and structural design drawings. The building work is currently under way with completion set for late spring.
