Just started working out at this gym during my lunch break! Seems like an interesting concept, and depending on how you adjust the machines and how much effort you put into the workout, it really does feel like a decent session considering it only takes 8 minutes! The owner, Bob, is extremely nice, helpful, and explains all the machines and how they work.If you want to do more than 8 minutes, you definitely can do more rounds (I sometimes do) and there are other machines and equipment for various other exercise activities. The other half of the gym is used for volleyball, so that's cool! I'll come back to this review in a few months to review the fitness results and how I think the machines have impacted them. More...

If you want to work out in the Kaka'ako area, this is the place to go! The team there is amazing to work with and they create a real family environment. The clients are friendly and welcoming and motivate each other to be the best version of themselves. You'll love the efficiency of the Rom machines and the vibration machines are the best way to keep your body feeling good each day. Gosh where do I begin...  I woke up one morning finding myself yelping personal trainers.  It was one of those days where I was super motivated and felt extra fat.  I saw all of the positive reviews for Gilbert at ROM Gym, so I decided to take a shot and text the phone number.  I've never looked back since.  He scheduled me to meet on that day, which was good because I probably would have found another excuse to not start.I signed up for his personal classes.  Gilbert is an amazing trainer, he has really changed the way I view "working out and getting healthy."  Gil puts nutrition in the forefront of his lessons.  That is definitely what I needed in order to see results on my weight loss journey.  He also kept track of my every move, from each meal to each exercise.  Gil really paid attention to what I needed in order for me to succeed.  The lessons with nutrition stuck to me and I am still continuing on my journey.  I can still hear his words of encouragement when I work out on the ROM machine.  I've already lost 20 pounds and am in good care to loose more!  I've been consistently going to ROM for 3 months now which is impressive because in the past, I've only went for around 2 weeks then gave up.  I will continue my membership with ROM gym.   I am looking to start taking group classes to reach my weight loss goal.  THANK YOU GIL AND TEAM!!! **By the way, they sell yummy "got to" meal preps!  Along with fresh cold pressed juices!! I LOVE this place!! I haven't found a gym that I love more (and I've been to a lot of great gyms)... Bob is so friendly and helpful, and they have exactly what you need, nothing you don't. The ROM equipment is a GAME CHANGER.. The music is great, good vibes, never too crowded. I feel like this is not just exercise - it's truly physical (and emotional) therapy for me, and since they moved locations to a little bigger spot with a juice bar, and got a chiropractor, Dr. Tom (whose extremely experienced, helpful and caring) on staff, it's even better than before. ROM is the most powerful thing that has helped me with my neck and back issues. If I walk in with a level 7/10 of pain, I always walk out with almost no pain, if not any at all. It is fixing my posture, and the results are almost immediate.. the pain is disappearing very quickly since coming here after having chronic pain for many years. I'm so happy with this place that I even drive from Northshore 3 times a week to get my workouts (and physical therapy) in. I highly recommend ESPECIALLY if you live in town. Best gym I've ever been to... and I've been to all of the fancy gyms.. however, this one handles all my needs and so affordable! Bob is super nice and helpful with using the ROM equipment... They moved location to an even better spot a few doors down and they have a chiropractor on staff who is so helpful and amazing.. I live in Northshore but I drive down a few times a week and it's worth it every time. After a couple workouts I already see the results and my neck and back pain dramatically decrease with this equipment and with the lymph drainer shaky thingy. I love this place! I've been working out for what seems like forever. Tried all the different plans, lifting, cardio etc., have spent hours on end and I do get results, but at a huge cost in time . At ROM the results are nearly instant and it takes less than 30 minutes a day for me. It used to take me an hour running in a gym just to burn half the calories I burn in a 32 minute ROM session. IT'S FUN TOO! I also never feel fatigued although I leave the place in a total sweat fest. My flexibility has increased, and I have no after workout pain. I feel rejuvenated and happy, and I have so much time after to do what I need/want in my day. The staff is awesome, helpful and encouraging, and the gym is small, quaint and straight to the point. Parking is always available, and free for the first 2 hours. There are shops and restaurants near by as well. I'd give this place 10 stars if I could. Oh, and no initiation fees! I was very skeptical about working out for 8 minutes a day and wanting to see results. But don't knock it til you try it. Thankfully I did . Bob over at Rom Gym was very informative and knowledgeable about what I wanted when it came to working out. I was trying to shed 10-15 pounds in one month and so far in week 3, I've lost 7 pounds. Along with this amazing workout and a semi-clean diet, I've seen major results not only in my appearance but also in my strength. If you're short on time due to work and other stuff like me, this is the PERFECT way to get a good workout in as the ROM machine works out your whole body! This gym is conveniently located near my work. They have free validated parking and free cold water too :) The reason i tried this gym is because of the "8 minute" work-out they advertised. I used my free 1 week YELP pass. Came here and met Bob who showed me how to use the ROM and vibrating machine. He also gave tips on positions I can do while working on the vibrating machines. I also met Gilbert here and signed-up with him for 20 sessions. (Which is almost done and I will do a separate review of my fitness journey with him) You are given a heart monitor to see your progress and how effective your work out. I always try to hit the "red" zone. They have a point reward system and you check-in by just putting your phone number on the POS. It has a space for floor exercise / just the basics like gliders, boxing gloves, jump ropes, push-ups equipment, medicine ball etc but no dumbbells or any kind. This gym is really for that "8 minute" work-out and if you really really go hard on it, you can burn so much calories in 8 minutes.Sometimes, i just go here, do 2 rounds of the ROM machine then im out and feel good the whole day!Very friendly people.. every one who came here try to support and encourage each other to reach their goals.They also have specials on Groupon sometimes for better deal. The Kapiolani Rom gym is fantastic, fun, and friendly! Bob makes everyone feel welcome and Gilbert is the best super trainer! I have been working with him in personal/class sessions and have lost 20 lbs, with a few more to go! He is always motivating, engaging, and encouraging. I have learned a lot from him, not only about specific exercises for the areas that I need to work on, but also important nutritional information that definitely was instrumental in helping with the weight loss, which is the healthy way to go! I started going to ROM gym in February and started the training with Gilbert in April. I lost 21 lbs. And still plan to continue my training! I like going to this gym because the staff are encouraging and positive. They were really accommodating even when I brought my son. Bob kept him busy with Elmo videos and some crackers which I really appreciate. I would recommend the personal training with Gilbert for people who are starting out and those that need a little push. I made a lot of excuses for not doing the work when I started, but as soon as I saw some progress, I started following his guidelines. The training sessions are pretty simple. You come in for a nutritional assessment for 30 minutes and then you do different circuits each session for another 30 minutes, a total of an hour. Working out becomes fun because each session is different. You may need to download my fitness pal on the app store before you start the training and then you enter your daily meals for breakfast, lunch dinner and snacks. You go over weekly meal plans to make sure your nutritional intake, your eating habits and your exercise plans are aligned with your weight lost goals.  Weight lost is more than just a work out; it is a habit and a lifestyle. So love everything about the ROM Gym 8 Minute Fitness in Kaka'ako, and I hate working out, I was referred by my chiropractor Dr. Thomas Iwashita who told me these workout machines here is easy on our joints, a total body fitness machine that pro athletes and famous stars use, only 4 minutes upper and lower body each, which sounded great to me because I'm super busy, FREE PARKING FOR 2 HOURS, or more if you make friends with the parking tenant, lol, or after 5:30pm on the street, so convient in town.I tried it out for FREE one day and met the owner Bob who is super nice and Gilbert who is the personal trainer there is was super cool, very educated and personable.  There is these heart monitors that you can wear to see your progress and you gain points as an incentive to get free stuff.  The people are super friendly there, they help motivate you, not too crowded, and all different ages and sizes.  I never felt so good sweating, and this is the 1st place ever that I learned to keep your heart rate high and in the zone so you lose calories and weight.  I highly recommend thus place and give it a super 5 stars. RomGym has become "home away from home" for me. The staff (Bob, Gilbert, Maya and Ray) are very friendly, knowledgeable and professional. You receive a point each time you come to workout and points can be redeemed for rewards such as a week of free membership or a heart monitor just to name a few. Gilbert offers personal training sessions either in a group setting or 1:1 for an additional fee. Your success is what you put into it like anything else. I personally lost a noticeable amount of weight within a 3 month period, 10lbs and lots of inches. I've done other workouts in my past and wouldn't feel like I got a good workout because I wouldn't sweat. However with the Rom machine, I'm drenched in sweat and it feels great! I have found Rom gym accidentally through Groupon. And I glad I tried. The gym is very clean and people there are so kind and friendly. Gilbert is a personal trainer here and I have signed up for a personal training sessions.  I had a knee surgery in beginning of year. I have tried to run but every time I go to run I ended up a knee pain.  I decided to give Gilbert's PT sessions a try. At first, I couldn't bend my knee but Gilbert is very patient and attentive to detail how to treat my chronic pain injury. At first, he tried manual therapy allow me to re-learn how to bend my knee. Within a month, I gained comfortable to walk in a long distance. Within 3-4 months, I started to run without pain.  By the end of the session in November, I am able to bend my knee pass 90 degree and even do a single leg jump..of course, the icky knee pain is gone.  To get a job done, you need a right tool. The staff are awesome and encouraging. Since joining on July 29th I have lost 10lbs and noticeable inches. Of course the weight loss came with hard work and determination; thanks to Kapiolani Romgym ! Parking is free for 3 hours which is one of the many perks they offer. I've earned a free heart monitor from accruing points. The heart monitor allow members to strive for 80% or higher. I suggest you go there, give it a try and see for yourself what it's all about! So I've be going to the ROM gym for a little more than 2 months now and I love it. The staff are super friendly and helpful. My first day Bob took the time to show me how the rom machine worked and even showed me different workouts on the vibration machine and the ab roller. When I first walked it I thought "oh this place is kinda small, I'll have to wait around for a machine" but that's definitely not the case! I'm always able to hop on a ROM machine or I get on the vibration machine while I wait for someone to finish. It's actually really nice to workout at a smaller gym, it's less intimidating than larger gyms and you actually get to know the staff and the other people working out. Right when you walk in the door they greet you by your name! That doesn't happen at big gyms. Lol I also completed a 10-pack session with Gilbert which was awesome. The sessions are usually ~1 hour, 30 minutes for food and 30 minutes for the workout. I'm 5'2" and started at 132lbs. In less than 2 months I lost 8 pounds and decreased my body fat by 3% with the help of Gilbert! I probably could have lost more but I got a little side tracked when I went to Vegas for Labor Day weekend and had some friends visit here as well, which means....lots of food and alcohol! That of course, isn't Gilbert's fault, all me. Ha! He is a great motivator and will definitely kick your butt! I feel stronger and healthier, my clothes are loose on me and I just feel great! I definitely recommend this gym to those who want to get a great workout in and definitely checkout Gilbert's training sessions. I was on vacation here with my boyfriend and we found this gym nearby the place we were staying at, and it turned out to be the perfect workout deal! You can get a workout that would usually take you 45 min to an hour at a regular gym in only 8 minutes at the RomGym! We came here every morning before we started our day - we became hooked! Great gym, especially for busy folks.  I have been a member for about a month and half.  I started seeing results after 2 weeks.  You can just use the ROM machine and do your workout in 8 minutes, but more likely you will do some exercises on the vibration machines as well.  Gilbert put together a challenging workout for me that takes a total of 24 minutes.  With that minimal time commitment, it's very easy to take a quick break from work, get some fitness in and go back energized and refreshed.   Pros: fast, effective, not crowded, reasonably priced, top-of-the-line equipment, good for any fitness level.   Cons: no showers (but this would be somewhat counter to the speedy in and out benefit), somewhat limited hours More...

It's an efficient and quick work out on the ROM  machine. 8min on the machine is equivalent to a 40min work out. ..and it feels like you did a 40min work out. After 1 round or 2 or 3 on the ROM machine you can recover on the vibration machine. There are exercises to do on this machine but the best thing to do are stretches or just standing on it. The staff, Bob and Gilbert are very friendly and helpful and encouraging. The location is great and they have 3hr parking. Hours are good if you want an early start to your day. I am so glad that I found RomGym!  The "8 minute" workout on the ROM machine is a quick, intense, effective way to do your body some good.  I love that it can literally be as quick as 10 minutes (give yourself some time to grab some water in between the upper and lower body workouts, because you'll need it!) or if you have more time, you can do a few rounds, or spend some time on the vibrating machines.  Wether you stay for only 10 minutes, or an hour, you will leave feeling like you got a great workout.  I love the new location at Imperial Plaza!  Parking is FREE up to 3 hours and is in an enclosed parking garage.  The owner Rob, and his staff at ROM are really friendly, and they really root for you and your fitness goals.  The people who come to work out here are also all friendly and no one is trying to show off or look cute here, but everyone just comes to improve their health and fitness. I also appreciate that it's always super clean.Gilbert is a personal trainer here at ROM, and has just started offering group classes which I love-hate!  Love because he is such an encouraging trainer, and I see results when working out with him, and enjoy the company of others while suffering together!  Hate because I am dying to get through his sessions and my muscles ache for days after...but at the same time, I love that feeling.  You all know what I'm talking about!  If you are looking start a fitness routine, or looking to add something new to your fitness routine, I highly recommend trying ROM!  I think yelp check-in offers a free week, so you have nothing to lose!  I love ROM! I totally mixed up the time of event and got there 45 minutes early.... Which was awesome! I got to meet a couple of the trainers and experience the vibrating machine- NOT called a vibrator LOL. Gilbert welcomed me warming and ran me through a couple of ways to work my abs on the machine. They are the first gym on the island to have these! It definitely felt like every move I made was exaggerated.... 2 squats felt more like 80!Soon everyone else showed up and we were turned into believers! We did three different stations: the RomGym machine, the vibrating machine and the ab roller. All were great because they worked all parts of your body. You could really tell there was science behind this workout set. We were all struggling to finish that 24 minutes but it was worth it- we all felt so much stronger!The instructors were so great- really patient and encouraging. Wow - I had a great time meeting everyone the other Yelpers and the staff.  It was fun trying out the ROM which I never heard of and the vibrating machine to do the planks and push ups on. It was harder than I thought. The ab roller was hard to do too.Who would have thought one could get a workout in under 10 minutes. I am hoping I don't feel too stiff tomorrow so stretching out is a must. This is a fun and interesting way to work out which saves time.I need to work on strengthening my core and other muscles so I can burn off more calories. I work at RomGym, and let me tell you... this place is AMAZING! I wasn't a gym person before working here because I could never convince myself to get into my car and drive to a place where I would pay to spend hours sweating and days being sore. At RomGym, I work out for 8 minutes so I'm never bored or feel as though I'm wasting my life away, and although the workout is great and I sweat hard for those 8 minutes, I'm not sore since I do the machine almost every day of the week. After two weeks of steady usage of the Rom machine, my body already feels so much better, not to mention my arms, stomach, and legs are already starting to show more definition! It's very supplemental to other athletic activities such as cycling, paddling, gymnastics, etc. Annnnndddd, the camaraderie at the gym is absolutely fantastic.
