Wow, this place is pure seafood ambrosia. Full tasting menu format. This place deserves 2 Michelin stars, no doubt. It is sad that the James Beard and Michelin judges hardly give any attention to Portland or the PNW at all. I'd wager the food at Row is amongst the best in the country. Definitely one of the best meals I have had. Compared to Acadia in Chicago but less pretentious and actually surprisingly superior food. Beats Gary Danko and Michael Mina no question. This is a formal tasting menu so don't expect large portions but with the various muses and small bites between, even the four course was plenty to have a fully satisfying meal. Delicious! More...

I wish I could give 4.5 stars. The only thing I did not enjoy was the set up and ambience of the restaurant. It is located within the upper level of a mall type building and there is an opening from above where you are seating where light/noise from the other stores can be heard.

We had an amazing dinner we will never forget! From the booking process (and perfect communication with the crew beforehand) to the location, mood and obviously the food: everything was absolutely fantastic! Came for the Geoduck but was knocked out by the Salmon and desserts. We sat by the kitchen and were astonished by the precision of the kitchen crew. They were so nice and willing to share their thoughts and answer to all of our questions, adding an intimate dimension to the whole experience. Roe is hands down the best restaurant I've ever eaten at. This place was an incredible journey of food. I can not even call it a restaurant but, the closest thing to heaven on a plate I've tasted. My wife and I got the tasting menu and sat at the bar so we could watch the sous chef work his magic. Service and food were incredible! We especially loved the ono ceviche, geoduck, seabass, and dessert drink pairings. The chef came over and talked to us for 5 mins as the night was winding down, which gave a nice personal touch. We went for Portland Dining Month (PDM - 3 course for $33). This restaurant was in my wish list for a long time, and I was so surprised they participated PDM. I think it was one of the best menus I've tried during PDM so far. Every dish was very delicious. Complimentary glass of rose as an aperitif was very nice. At the end we left happy and staffed. First off I would like to start this review off with, WOW. It's hard to figure out where to start because there were so many elements playing together at such a high level that make this such a special dining experience. The waiting area is homely with aperitifs and a card for your party. The dining area is not crammed but feels intimate at the same time with great ambiance. The servers, who rotated roles and from table to table, were truly excellent in every regard. The food was the star of the show, every plate was very well balanced and nuanced, every part of every plate was nice but within each bit combined come together delightfully. Quantity was also surprising as we left completely full.If there was a drawback, nearly $500 for two with drinks and caviar service (wine pairings would have been north of $600) this place is not cheap. However, taking the experience and food quality into account, Roe is an excellent value. We got well what we paid for and more.We will have to come back every time they change the menu... at least. The best dining experience I have had in Portland. After eating the salmon I thought "this is it, that's the best fish I've ever had" but then they brought out the seabass, which was somehow even more delicious. From the photos you may think that the serving sizes are small, but it ends up being a lot of food. We ordered the wine pairing service to go with the courses and loved all the choices they made.
