Rochester Shaolin Training Academy is an amazing school that teaches authentic northern style Shaolin Seven Star Praying Mantis Kung Fu. I have been a student there since 2000 and highly recommend joining our kung fu family. From the moment I walked into the school for the first time, I knew that it was something that I wanted to be a part of. I was extremely impressed with the skills demonstrated in the children's class and I was planning on just observing for the night, but when I was asked if I wanted to jump in and try out the adult's class I knew I had to..The rest is history, as I have made kung fu a part of my life and have had the privilege to partake in numerous Chinese New Year celebrations, public demonstrations, and a trip to China to train with our grand master Lee Kam Wing, who visits our school annually for seminars. At the Rochester Shaolin Training Academy you will be able to learn all aspects of kung fu including drills/applications, forms (both empty hand and weapons), sparring, traditional lion dancing, chi gung, tai chi, and most importantly a family that encourages self-improvement through discipline and hard work. Though I previously studied two forms of Karate as well as Aikido, I really found a home here at the Rochester Shaolin Training Academy. The style itself has a lot to offer for both beginner and advanced students. The friendly atmosphere and bond between students is strong, and everybody works together with the goal not only of advancing their own aims, but helping to sharpen the skills of their fellow students as well. Throughout the years I have seen Sifu Bateman continually demonstrate a profound knowledge of the system, and every step of the way has been helpful and encouraging as well as patient with my MANY questions.
