I’ve been around to many spas and salons to search for that ever elusive perfect massages session. Avalon has always given me that fix. My therapist was very informative and answered all my questions with ease. I can’t say enough. More...

This is a value for money place. The staff and masseuse were very courteous. Keep in mind this is NOT a commercial luxury massage spot. I needed one after days of slugging in the gym and chose this spot as it was close by. I will recommend folks go for a 90 minute session vs 60 as that tends to run shorter sometime. More...

This place is better than some high end spas that charge $100 an hour where here it's $40 and you're also helping students. I always request advanced students so it's good. I've been getting massages here off and on they're always super good.  I've only Had one weird experience here which is why I'm giving it four stars instead of five. They put me in the massage room closest to their break room and I could hear the employees and students laughing and talking in there throughout my entire massage. So if it weren't for that one experience out of the probably over 10 times I've been I would have given them a five. More...

Great price for an hour massage ($40), however skill level depends on the masseuse. I have had some amazing massages, and I have also had some mediocre ones as well. . nevertheless, for the price it is worth the experience... If you book an LMT, they are consistently exceptional.. I was a client for 2 years before deciding to choose massage as my profession.I chose Avalon because no matter the intern, I was able to get an intern that could locate my muscle imbalances and use deep tissue techniques to dispel them. At an affordable price! $40/hr! I couldn't have chosen a better school. They have dedicated instructors paired with a thorough curriculum. As well as, opportunities for work study and support for building your own practice or gaining employment. I've been to many other massage schools as a client and had instructor massages that were not as good as intern massages here. Going to this school literally saved my life and from costly surgeries. I couldn't be happier having learned to do the same for my friends, family, and clients. Get a massage. Introduce yourself to aromatherapy. Learn about proper nutrition and exercise. Study the fundamentals of Chinese medicine and Thai massage. Experience the benefits of hydrotherapy. Solidify your finances. Learn to touch the lives of the people around you with not only your hands, but your heart. Only at Avalon. More...

This is my second engagement with this school, my first time was with the owner Randy Greer giving a 90 minute massage. This time it is during the time of observing classrooms for the Massage Therapy Instructor CE course in which they provide. Those people who chose to take the online route are missing out on the interpersonal connection that comes with directly being in the class room. People can learn from many ways but the logic of being under a mentorship program helps the growth and faster development of your craft. More...

I had a really good massage here. My massagist was a licensed one, and definitely did a good job. He stuck to the pressure I wanted throughout the massage and was pleasant. The receptionists were also kind and polite. Appointments are available even at short notice. What I did not like was the fact that tipping procedures are unclear. I wish they'd take a clear stance on this so that we know what to expect / if we should or should not tip. More...

Holy crap!!!! This was the third time I came here and I come because  of the price! WELL let me tell you! If you get the right person with the right touch IT IS JUST AS GOOD as a well experienced professional. I go to a student I think Henrique or Enrique Anywho, this is the BEST one hour massage ever! (Actually it lasted 1 1/2 hours) he apparently made a mistake on timing but HEY I'm not gonna complain! I was so happy that I paid DOUBLE for him to get a tip (even though they can't get tips I hope he gets it) and still ended up paying less than THE ONE TIME I went to a licensed therapist! I'm a grad student and haven't been earning a regular income the last few years. But I love massage and try to schedule as often as I can - I feel it's essential to my overall health and fitness. I have gotten dozens of student massages here and also once from Randy, the owner and instructor, when they had a sceduling challenge. I have always been given quality treatment and excellent therapy here. The scheduling clerks are proficient and professional and the therapists are consistently well trained, attentive and skilled. It is a serious bargain, so I always schedule a 90 minute session so they have more time to work and develop their skill. Interns aren't allowed to accept tips, which is a real shame because they earn it. I always "forget" that rule and "accidentally" leave a $20 on the massage table in the room. More...

I have been here for student massages several times over the years...I came in this morning and got an excellent deep tissue from a licensed therapist for $40 for one hour. I have to say the therapist whose name was William gave me one of the best deep tissue massages I have ever had! They do indeed ask if you would like to tip the therapist since they are not students as another review stated. However, 20% of $40 is $8... This place is great! I was a little hesitant because I didnt know what to expect, however I was not disappointed. The therapist was awesome and asked me if I was comfortable with the level of pressure etc. The only thing that I could see that could deter people is that the room that the massage was in is in fact a teaching room. There were books and such scattered about. Also there was a class next to the room and I could hear them through the walls. As long as you don't mind this and want a great inexpensive massage you will be pleased. 1hour = $35.00 and you don't tip because they're students. More...

Why am I always the first to review the random massage places in houston?....haha. I was searching around online to find a good deal on a Thai massage as I was in desperate need of a muscle release. My memories of getting $3 thai massages in Thailand linger but there's no way to get that deal in the US.After going through many reviews of places in the Montrose/Upper Kirby area, this seemed like the best gamble. After all, 1.5 hours of massage for $50, yes please!! Of course it's a risk whether or not it will be to your liking as the interns practice on your body. I was pleasantly surprised and amazingly relaxed. The massage tended to every muscle in my body. It left me recharged and feeling really good. After the intern was done, he told me I was the first person he had done a Thai massage on.. he did a great job! They also do Swedish massages, i'm going back once a month! More...

After visiting several schools in Houston, I stumbled upon Avalon. The staff at the school was very attentive, and shared a lot of information about themselves, massage therapy and even allowed me to sit in class to see what I would be learning. The director, and instructional staff were very approachable and even eager to speak to me directly. I was also allowed and encouraged to speak to the other student body, something that was not the case at the other schools. I was very excited to see such a high level of Student satisfaction, it was such a positive environment! The intern massage I received was amazing! I received a massage from an intern at every school I visited and I must say that the intern @ Avalon was far superior. This school was recommended to me by a family member and I am very satisfied with the education I receved there. The cariculum is focused on the theraputic aspect of massage with an emphisis on deep tissue and many medical massage techniques. Some time is spent on Spa style massage but it is definatly not a focus of the school. The instructors are all very knowledgeable and helpful. Also, it took me five weeks to compleate my 50 hour state required internship wich was fairly fast considering my avalibility. Also during my time at the school several students who had already graduated would occasionaly stop by and give pointers on how to improve my skills. I took the MBLEX exam and scored in the high 700's on my first attempt.Of all the students I know of the only ones who have not recieved their license yet are the ones who either have yet to finish paying the school or have yet to finish their internship. The only real downside to the school is the occsinal breakdown in communication between the schools director and the staff. Having attended other voccational schools and college I wouldn't say that this problem is much more than other insitutions I have atttended. If you want a top quality massage therapist education than I would highly recommend Avalon. More...
