It’s a pretty good spot. The wait staff could be a bit more refined. I had the steak sandwich and it was good. They have live DJ every night and it’s by the water. It’s a cool spot for drinks and dinner on Staten Island. More...
Delicious food and fabulous views. DJ was a pleasant surprise and he played a great varied selection of music. This restaurant is child friendly too. Parking Garage is just a few feet away More...

I enjoyed the DJ, the food, the drinks and the service. It's 2019 and a Friday b4 9pm. Maybe you have to take the day and time in consideration.
River Dock Cafe is a great place to enjoy the Manhattan skyline and have a drink or two near the water. The staff is super friendly and they even have a DJ during happy hour and weekends! Fun ambiance and a great place to explore with friends - the Empire Outlet mall just opened next door too! More...

Great service!! They were closing and still served us. Thanks for making our Staten Island ferry trip memorable
Food was good but service could have been better.
Did not expect much as it is located in the very busy ferry terminal, but we were hungry and liked the view of Manhattan. So glad we went in, very nice food, good value and best fries ever (according to my wife).
Had some drinks And apps delicious. Was hot tho and had no AC inside.
Nice place to spend an evening. Good food, good service, good view.

Went for the first time last night and totally loved it! Really fun place, great view, fantastic food and drinks. Will definitely come back.
Quick service, pretty view, perfect steamed veggies, good grilled salmon sandwich with pesto mayo, okay lobster, really good house chardonnay
Loved the Food and the view after sunset
The food was great different style from a different culture. The prices on the menu was on point you can't find a bargain anywhere like that. The service was excellent great team work from the staff. The view is amazing. Over a great place for a romantic encounter. You can compete with a place like this anywhere. I give it 5 stars along with 2 thumbs up. More...
I'm one of those people who likes to ride the SI Ferry with friends just for fun on a nice day, so we were all thrilled when this place opened up and gave us something to do once we got to the other side. As most people have mentioned, the view of the harbor, the beautiful green lady who lives in the harbor, and the skyline are excellent (especially if you sit outside). There's often live music and, in my experience, the cocktails and food have been perfectly fine. Service can be a little spotty but not a huge deal if you're not in a rush. I've also been here with friends with allergies, dietary restrictions, etc. and we've had no trouble when asking for substitutions. Overall, great for what it is -- just a casual eatery in a transit terminal. More...
Best view from the ferry terminal on Staten Island. It wasn't busy that evening. There's a decent beer selection. Food is okay. Pretty convenient to go to. A lot just go to Staten Island to take pictures on the ferry. Most turn back right away. Why not enjoy the view a little longer. In the terminal is this bar. The best thing about it of course is the view of the skyline. As for the drinks they aren't bad either. Beer selection includes many local choices like the Five Boroughs IPA. After taking the ferry all the way to Staten Island, just stay awhile. Hang around the terminal and this bar. There's some good picture opportunities and sightseeing. More...
Food was excellent!! Definitely recommend....
Come hungry!! They pile the seafood on your plate for sure. You will leave with a full belly. Great food and its a great location facing the river front looking at Manhattan. I love this place! can't wait to go again!! More...

My favorite spot for a relaxing sip and relaxing atmosphere. At the end of the day I always make a stop at the bar and the guys at the riverdock will take care of me. Grab a beer and see the skyline !

Really nice place I went with my family good food and drinks
Service très sympa, plats savoureux, nous avons passé un bon moment en terrasse
Good for a quick drink when you miss the ferry! Just be sure to close your tab with enough time to catch the boat!
I walked into a Wonderful View of the City , the Bartender recommended me a Pineapple Mojito and it was absolutely amazing , will be visiting again very soon ! Keep up the Great Job !
I enjoyed a relaxing lunch here with the friendly bartender, Cassandra. She made me a Peach Tea followed by a Gin Mojito, both were excellent. She then reccomend the Lobster Ravioli with a side salad for much, great recommendation!! More...
I am a business improvement consultant and this place is totally the best restaurant in New York City if you want the following * Best view of Manhattan Skyline in NYC from Restaurant * Best price for a pitcher of beer * Outside seating Super Convenient as it is right off free ferry 24/7 in Staten Island to Lower Manhattan every half hour Great music and big screen TV's and awesome staff
If your looking for great place to unwind from the hustle, get off the boat and relax at the River Dock Cafe. A great place to de-stress. Theirs always a great breeze through the bar area to cool off. The food and service are excellent. The best thing about the River Dock Cafe are the bartenders. When I'm there its Cassandra or Melissa. Super friendly, great service and boy ohhhhh!! boy can they mix a cocktail. I highly recommend. More...

The food was great. I had the appetizer platter. waffle fries, fries shrimp, calamari, spring rolls, buffalo wings. And a Mini bulldog drink. Everything was good. Their kitchen closes very early. They have on website open till 12AM but when I arrived at 9:55PM. I was told I had 5 mins to order. I rushed and chose something simple on the menu. We were able to stay seated outside on the deck once the restaurant and bar fully closed, so we can finish our food and drinks. The only plus! More...
After reading most of the reviews I was skeptical of going, but I had already made plans and had no other choice. The drinks were amazing, and the food was even better! We had reservations and they called to confirm a few hours before our reservation time. My boyfriend had the salmon sandwich and I had the pappardelle Alfredo with chicken. Everything was amazing. I would definitely recommend this place and come back! Great view as well! More...

Superb place beautiful place to view should be visited good service
I had an issue in the past but have returned a few times and the manager has resolved it quite well. I really enjoy the Grilled Salmon Sandwich! :)
*Pro Tip: DON'T BRING UP RYAN GOSLING IN THIS PLACE. I read someone's Facebook post about the time Ryan Gosling was filming his cameo in Fuller House next season (spoiler) and I guess the scene takes place on the ferry? Anyway, the production company called this restaurant to prepare for Ryan Gosling's arrival with like another 15 hungry production people. The staff and kitchen started cleaning up and organizing everything and got ready for him and after being like 2 hours late he finally shows up and is carrying a life-sized cardboard cut out of "Macho Man" Randy Savage. The restaurant offers to keep it for him behind the bar or like off to the side so it's not in the way of staff and other patrons. He flat out REFUSES and makes a huge deal about he starts yelling and shakes one waitress and yells out "I was in "The Notebook!". He said he wouldn't order or spend any money at the place unless he can keep it at his side erect. They literally told him he couldn't do it because of the obvious fire hazard it was. So after like 10 minutes of this, since it's Ryan Gosling I mean, the fricken star of La La Land they let him have it there by his side. The creepy part was that he ordered food for the cut out too. Ryan got a Caesar salad and "Macho Man" Randy Savage got spaghetti with meatballs. Also, the production crew got salads too. No one was allowed to take pictures of him or "Macho Man" Randy Savage together only like, apart apparently? Idk I wasn't there this is part of what I read. Good happy hours here too notch staff More...
Best seafood, fresh lobster. Great to eat as soon as you get off the ferry! Service so so but fun!
Cannot wait to come back and I haven't even left yet. Sweet, serene, and everything in between . PERFECTION
Great view on the water. Lots of choices from classic bar food to full plates and even had a lobster special for dinner. Great happy hour prices as well.
This restaurant has a view of the harbor, and the boats passing by. I liked sitting by the window, and having a hamburger. It's worth a ferryboat ride.
This is my second time eating here and it's absolutely amazing. The owner is brilliant to build such a lovely restaurant by the ferry. This space was empty for years and I'm in awwe of the owner seeing this space and knowing it has something. The food was sooo good. I had the salmon salad and omg omg!The drinks are good, the food, and the vibe. What I love it's right by the water and you get the I'm out the state and voucher beach vibes. The fact that it's in the ferry terminal is so so genius. Why wouldn't people want excellent food while waiting for the ferry. Staten island doesn't haven't anything like this close to ferry. II love beautiful ambiance and bomb food and this has it all! The price was reasonable. I am all for the fake boujee lifestyle on the budget lol honestly this place is amazing. First, second, third, etc date! The owner has an eye because no one travels to Staten island, but this will be the single most reason people come to Staten Island. My waiter is Steve he was amazing. Ask for him! Absolutely attentive! More...

After taking the Staten Island Ferry, you see all these quick food places to eat such as Au Bon Pain, Subway - then you see the River Dock Cafe. They have outside tables, umbrellas and water views - ya, we'll eat here. Ordered a Brooklyn lager asked waitress for entree recommendation and she said they are famous for their stock pots. We ordered the Thai mussel stockpot and it did NOT disappoint. We were sopping up the juice with the bread they give you. A perfect beer, a perfect entree, a perfect weather day, that is why I am calling this place a 5 star. Next time we come back to NY, we are taking that ferry over again and eating lunch......or maybe dinner there as the ferry runs 24 hours a day. More...
Love this place!!!We had lunch here after riding the Staten Island ferry. There were seats both inside and outside, the inside had more of a bar feeling (I would have liked to try a lot of their drinks, they looked really good). We got a table outside, where we could enjoy the sun and the view. Our server came very quickly with cold water, and menus. That was perfect, it was really hot outside!I had the lobster roll, my mom the crab cake burger and my dad a regular burger. Of course had to try at least one drink, so I went for the Moscow mule - a personal favourite. The food was really well prepared and served quickly, the drinks was also very good and I liked the fact that it was served in a cup. Overall it was a good place for lunch, I would definitely come back another time mostly to try out the drinks and shots :-D More...
Absolutely loved the vibe . The dj had a great selection of music and the food was delicious. We also ordered the bulldog blue hawaiian delicious.. Compliments to the bartender. Our menu selections were calamari and a dozen blue point oysters accompanied by a Santa Fe chicken salad plus penne ala vodka w chicken. Both me and my food picky husband loved every dish served to us. For a "terminal" cafe this is too notch! More...

We had the lobster roll, salmon sandwich and calamari plate to share. Everything was delicious. If you go you should definitely try the Staten Island IPA bear, that is brewed here in Staten Island. I like this place. Nice atnosphere right off the water and in spring/summer there is seating outside. Good drinks. It's SUPER expensive though which is just ridiculous, so when my friends and I ate here we just got drinks and apps. We got the fried calamari which was really good. I would only ever get drinks and appetizers when coming here because of the ridiculous prices. Overall not bad for being at the staten island ferry lol. More...
Just had dinner with my daughter. I am giving 4 stars because there is no way to do 3.5 . This place has some pretty terrible reviews and it was my daughters second visit. Apparently the service outside is terrible but it's November so we thought we would give it a try. Took a few minutes to get a waitress but once we did , she (Natalia) was excellent. Went to the ladies room right away and it needed some cleaning but I forgave that because the men's room was being cleaned and I assumed the ladies room was next. We started with the crab cake. It was good not great but is was a disappointment because it was 2 small patties like a breakfast sausage not what a $16. Crab cake appetizers should be. There was some shredded carrot nonsense on the plate meant to distract you from the small size I am sure. The sauce was good though. My daughter order sirloin with mash potato, which she added cheese to the mash. The good part is the potatoes are real and the steak was cooked perfect. The bad part was the plate was boring. Zero garnish. So maybe they should throw some of the shredded carrot on the main dish instead. I ordered the lobster ravioli with a honey chipotle sauce. This plate was pretty and it was really tasty. The bummer was I ordered a glass of Pinot noir and got cabernet instead, so I sent it back. Then my daughter ordered a second glass of Riesling and got Pinot Grigio the second time. Maybe if they poured the right wine the fact that they pour heavy would be fabulous. The bartender could be more on point since I know the waitress is not pouring her own drinks. Overall it was pretty good and worth the 5 block walk from my house. I would come back. However if Natalia had not been so attentive and nice that might not the case. More...
We enjoyed eating at this place after taking the Staten Island ferry! Will be coming here again to maybe try the seafood!
Went to this place after work for happy hour and had an amazing experience! Great food, great service, and amazing views of NYC! Best Happy hour in Staten Island!
We ordered the lobster roll and the fish and chips. The service was lovely the view was nice. We had a great peaceful time. Was the food great? Yes it was! We were pleasantly surprised. The lobster roll was soft and creamy, the pickle and slaw were yum! The lobster had some great seasoning, paprika maybe? My companion really liked his fish and the fries were super crispy, even cooled by the sea air since we were seating outside. Fries tend to go soggy once cold but these were still crunchy! More...
We ordered great apetizers: shrimp satay with peanut sauce and bbq chicken wings and everything was delicious. For main course we had one of the dock pots with shrimps, king crabs legs, lobster and corn- huge pot enough for two people. It was delicious! !! The only little complaint is the bathroom that need some TLC. More...
Our burger was messed up but they were happy to fix it with out a problem and the food was amazing and very filling and the fries have to be the best fries on earth even when they are reheated just amazing
My husband and I stopped here after our commute back from the city on a random Tuesday evening. We heard decent things about this place from a friend, and thought we would check it out for ourselves. I got the southwest salad with grilled salmon, and my husband got the crabcake burger. We were both very happy with our meals. I am Indian, my food needs to have flavor. And the salmon was extremely delicious. Now that means a lot coming from me. My husband really enjoyed his burger, and it came with a side of fries. The fries were out of this world. When you eat fries that do not need any kind of condiment, you got yourself some damn good fries. Our server was incredibly kind and friendly. I would return back another time to try some of the more expensive meals. The view wasn't that great, but there was no air-conditioning inside and it was actually more comfortable sitting outdoors. If you're taking the ferry to Staten Island one day, consider stopping by for a delicious meal. More...
Yes, ladies and gentleman, you read that right... Staten Island. Now let's get the giant elephant in this blog post out of the way. Yes, River Dock Cafe is in Staten Island. And yes, some of you may balk at even the thought of going out to Staten Island. But, for those lucky enough to realize a free scenic boat ride providing breathtaking views of the Statue of Liberty and downtown Manhattan doesn't sound that bad, you're in for treat. River Dock Cafe is located just steps off the ferry. The restaurant has both an indoor dining area as well as (recommended) an outdoor patio with awesome views of the Manhattan skyline. This patio screams refreshing happy hour cocktails on a Friday. Any takers? The views aren't the only thing that make River Dock Cafe. Sitting literally on the water would lead you to believe seafood is a large part of the menu here. You'd be spot on. During my visit we were treated to a never-ending onslaught of food. A sampling of what we had is outlined below.Appetizers: Fresh mozzarella, crab cakes, appetizer assortment of coconut shrimp, mozzarella sticks, calamari and Buffalo wings, shrimp satay, black and white ahi tuna saladMain Courses: Cajun steamed pot, fresh Maine lobster, Thai mussels pot, shrimp fra DiaVolo, grilled mix combo, Alaskan pan fried salmonDessert: Red velvet, chocolate molten cake, New York cheesecakeI wasn't kidding about all that food! Every dish was plated beautifully and tasted just as good as it looked. The versatility of River Dock Cafe was on full display here. Not only can they do seafood right, but they can do all types of seafood. Whether you're ordering a steamed lobster or an ahi tuna salad you can't pick wrong. Don't feel restrained to seafood either. We devoured some delicious tasting baby back ribs smothered in barbecue sauce and free range chicken breast. What really made me love River Dock Cafe wasn't the view or the food but the owner's connection to the local community. While sitting with us during dinner, multiple people came up to him to say hi, he told us stories about his 'regulars' and the homeless people his kitchen feeds with leftovers. I can't say enough about the impression that left on me. This is a restaurant that clearly wants to become part of the local Staten Island community.River Dock Cafe is bound to only become more popular as word continues to spread. Additionally, the area around the Staten Island Ferry Terminal is slated for a major revitalization, with an enormous Ferris wheel and outdoor outlet mall set to be constructed in the coming years. In other words, get to River Dock Cafe quickly before the crowds do and enjoy a picturesque trip on the Staten Island Ferry. I promise you it will be one of the nicest trips you'll ever take to a New York City restaurant. More...
It's a great place to have a beer with a view to Manhattan. We appreciate Hassina's service, she is a very helpful and nice waiter! Hope to return here soon.
After 7 years in NYC (it's official today!), I have finally popped my Staten Island cherry--and now have officially visited all 5 of New York City's boroughs. I'm a little ashamed that it took me this long, but I digress. The catalyst behind this visit was, of course, food. The free ferry ride across the bay didn't hurt either. I was invited, along with Dave from Barton's Bites to visit the River Dock Cafe located inside the ferry terminal building with a terrace overlooking the bay and downtown Manhattan.Afshin, one of the restaurant's owners--it's a family business--met our group and gave us the history of how his father came to the US from India years ago and built up a food empire from nothing. They now own 47 restaurant concepts in the tri-state area, including most of the vendors in Penn Station. It was definitely an impressive rags-to-riches story and made me respect their ambition a ton.We started with drinks, which were much needed given the fact that the sun was shining right in many of our faces and we were all sweating glistening. I would definitely recommend any of the frozen drinks, but I found myself craving more and more of the lemonade. I know it's simple, and there's not even alcohol (though you can ask them to add some vodka if you're feeling that), but it's delicious and refreshing and just screams summer. As for appetizers, we were bombarded (in the best way possible) with a Thanksgiving table full of food. Favorites included the fried shrimp and calamari from the appetizer assortment ($23), the Caprese salad ($11), and the fresh white ahi tuna salad ($15).Afshin told us River Dock's specialty is seafood, even though they do fried food very, very well. So for the main course, the friendly waitstaff brought out another tableful of food: Cajun steamed pot ($33), fresh Maine lobster ($27), Thai mussel pot ($22), Seafood Fra Diavolo pasta ($19), marinated grilled shrimp ($29), Alaskan pan seared salmon ($22), BBQ baby back ribs ($23), and the grilled free range chicken breast ($19). PHEW!I tell ya, you can take the girl out of Boston (where I went to school), but you can't take the Boston out of the girl. I was super into the shellfish, and was the only one of us adventurous enough to crack into the lobster claws sans plastic bib. It was worth it. Nothing says summer like making a mess eating lobster. The Cajun steamed pot was also a ton of fun, with the crab legs easier to open than the lobster and the peel-and-eat shrimp ready for your dextrous digits to tear into them.Lastly, we couldn't leave without at least sampling dessert. Each dessert usually comes separately, but Afshin brought out a sampler for us including the red velvet cake, chocolate molten cake, and NY cheesecake (each $8). My favorite was definitely the molten cake because chocolate. One of the best parts of the night was the ride home (again, the Staten Island Ferry is FREE!). We stood at the bow of the boat, digesting as we watched the shimmering lights of the city come closer and closer. I would do it all again just to watch the distant hum of activity turn into the individual buildings and streets that we all know and love. River Dock Cafe is the perfect place to take a "staycation" dinner trip, even on a weekend night. Set up shop right after work with a few frozen cocktails and some lemonade, order up some seafood, and watch the sun go down and the Manhattan lights go up. Word has it that a ferris wheel larger than the London Eye will also be rising in the vicinity of the restaurant, so that will only draw more and more traffic to the area. So you might as well check it out now! More...
Tiffany/Bartender was excellent! Do not and I repeat Do not read those "other" reviews. We went and had delish hot apps and dinner and cocktails. I highly recommend and will be returning, shortly.Service was 2-1 table. I'm so glad I finally got to try this place! Recommended by another friend, I knew I was in for a treat. And true to word, the food was exceptional and the portions were huge. River dock has a well rounded menu with a specialty in seafood with quality and taste that leave you craving for more. I had the free range chicken but tried bits of the lobster ravioli, the calamari, the steak sandwich and the Asian-style noodles- none of which disappointed. I can't even begin to describe how amazing and decadent the chocolate cake was. The place doesn't just come with good food. It comes with great service and an outstanding view of the city that makes your experience complete. I absolutely can't wait for the weather to warm up so I can bring friends back to the patio and try that food again.. Highly recommended! More...

Conveniently located steps away from the Staten Island ferry, River Dock Cafe delivers a reasonably priced meal with a relaxing ambiance. Our party of five was quickly seated, and the staff was very attentive. One of the best parts of this restaurant is the beautiful view of the New York skyline. The menu had a lot of variety, and even catered to seafood allergic individuals such as myself. While I did hear rave reviews of the crab cakes, calamari, fried shirmp, and lobster ravioli from the rest of my party, my hunger was satiated with the steak sandwich. It was well seasoned and complimented with a chipotle mayo sauce. The portions were big and the food was delicious. We ended the meal with a variety of desserts. Love the apple cobbler and the brownie- very decadent! We will definitely return! More...
We decided to come here for our anniversary on a Sunday night. It wasn't packed at all and the service was great! Not only was our meal brought our quickly but it was absolutely more than we expected. My boyfriend ordered the surf n turf and i ordered the Alaskan king crab legs. We both were extremely happy with our food. The Alaskan king crab legs were exceptional and his steak was perfectly prepared for medium. Kudos to the chef! Our waitress was great and added in a candle plus an extra couple of scoops for our anniversary. The view was ok but if you're there for the view and not the seafood, sit at the far left. You'll have the best seat in the house. I highly recommend this place if you have the money! City prices but it's worth it. More...
I was here for my birthday the other week with a friend and his family. The King Crab legs were GREAT.. So much meat, the service was very good and we sat by the window with a nice view of NYC. The drinks came right on time and the fish entree my friends wife had was fresh and tender.. Now, the 3 year old was having a time of his life, the staff was patient with him and he got a nice big ice cream that put him at ease. THIS PLACE IS GOING TO ROCK in the summer with the outdoor patio. And FINALLY A DECENT BAR in the terminal. The happy hour is very reasonable a beer and a shot for $7.00. I can see this can be a sports bar as well with all the big screened TV's. Although it just opened and I read some of the other comments here, give the place a chance to work out the few kinks all restaurants get when they open. I'm sure its going to be a hit. More...
The St. George Ferry Terminal hasn't had a decent bar since Gerald Ford was president. That's all changed with the opening of River Dock Cafe. They have a large U-shaped bar & loungeinside a glass inclosure which offers views of the Harbor & Downtown Manhattan on one sideand commuters scurrying past on the other. They offer Wraps & Burgers and have a tank of Live Lobsters so there's something for everyone. But I think the best part is the bar, if you want a Adult Beverage while waiting for the ferryyour choice is no longer limited to a can of beer wrapped in a paper-bag.
