What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
Preparation, knowledge, skill, dedication, integrity, equipment and work ethic.
For me, photography is a way of life. I have a passion for what I do. Working to constantly improve my skills, learning on a daily basis, perfecting my craft and investing capital, time and effort to be the best photographer I can be is paramount to my success.
Having the love, skill, tools and vision to be able to take the process from planning, location selection, making sure you know EXACTLY what the client is looking for, execution, client feedback, photo processing skills and knowing how to produce a great image file and print are all extremely important.
Also, doing what ever it takes to get the images perfect! Taking as many shots as necessary, receiving client feedback on the look. Knowing how to adjust images in Lightroom, Photoshop etc. in order to get it right and having the willingness to re-shoot or re-edit photos until the end result is ideal for the client!
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
I always like to have as much communication as possible before the shoot. I want the clients to direct me as much as I will direct them! I work for the clients and they are my bosses! I want to know what they want, where, when, the type of shots they are looking for and I want to make sure they are aware of all of the options with respect to the style and nature of the image! My mission is to produce for them exactly what they want!
What do you love most about your job?
Everything! The entire process from meeting my clients, selecting the location of the shoot, discussing the theme along with poses, types of shots, number of shots, which colors to wear as the scene dictates, the actual shoot itself, the selection of the images to process, the image processing, creating prints and delivering a final result that will make my clients smile!
What inspired you to start your own business?
My love of photography, my passion for making my clients happy and my knowing that I will devote everything I have into producing the best images possible!
