As an instructor at the YMCA I have to say I recommend them for their AMAZING members! we have some of the most supportive team players for members who are always pushing each other to succeed. It's a great group environment and everyone is always welcoming and friendly. thank you to the members who make the Richmond Hill YMCA great! It makes coming to work a true joy. More...

Because it is the only one stop shop in the local market. I can get my pump going, while the wife does the treadmill, stair stepping and HIIT workouts, Zumba etc. all while the kid is being cared for and entertained. Win, Win, Win, that's all you do when you get a the family focused on you. Be a member, you won't regret the better version of you, remove the obstacles. More...

I love doing the WOD and the instructors at the YMCA classes are amazing. We could use some more room for all the classes and gym space but then I wouldn’t have met the people I have here. Love going to the YMCA in Richmond Hill. More...

Because of the instructors and the people!! They are the best! I have been to many YMCA’s, but the RHYMCA has always has the best instructors! All of Shirley’s classes are very challenging, but fun!! And I’m loving the new High Fitness class with Maggie!! I love to be pushed and these Y instructors give 100% every time I take one of their classes! They are keeping me in track!! More...

I like the staff, facility, and child care options. I would REALLY like to see a body pump class added to the schedule though.

This YMCA facility is the best in town! The staff is warm, friendly and very helpful. It’s large enough for lots of equipment and has a wide variety of fitness classes to cater to everyone’s needs! I love working out here!

I've been attending the YMCA for some time now and I don't have any complaints! Machines and treadmills are always available to me and my son loves the Fun club! Thanks for my job who is partner's with YMCA makes it affordable for employees! Staff has always been friendly, accommodates free childcare for those with smaller children and what I love the most is the spiritual basket full of scripture rolls for us to grab on the way out!! It's encouraging and give you a great way to start your day!! More...

Everything is great but the spin bikes. The spin room is like a sauna with stale air and old bikes that are falling apart. On the other hand, the instructors are super awesome. This is the reason we still take the spin classes. They make it fun while you burn tons of calories. Get there early so you can choose one of the few bikes that work.I would suggest not to compare this facility's exercise equipments to the bigger city's Y....  just enjoy what they offer & you'll have fun. I am by no means a "gym person".  Don't get me wrong, I'm TRYING to be, but it is a hard row to hoe...the gym is hot and sweaty and full of pain, broken dreams and men who are far too good looking for me to be red-faced and panting in front of...at least not in this type of setting. ;) The Y is a good gym tho, and is inspiring me to try to get back into that gym mentality.  They offer wonderful classes: yoga is awesome, women on weights is a rockstar workout and boot camp will make you srsly reconsider your life...last time I went, I promise we did lunges for at least a half mile and by the end, looking fat in a bikini seemed like an acceptable price to pay not to hurt so much. They also have a nice amount of weight machines and cardio equiptment. The one downside I have about this gym is the weight section.  I am not a weight lifter...but I am trying really hard to start working on strength training and to do so, I need weights.  There are puny 10lb barbells in some of the classrooms, but none in the weight section, which means that for me to do my exercises I would have to interrupt a class to barge in for weights.  Which is rude.  Plus, I apparently make some very strange sounds and facial expressions during weight lifting, and having that area in the middle of the gym makes me reaaaaally uncomfortable.  I wish it was a more enclosed space.  But that's just me.Security is pretty tight around this joint.  They give you a code and scan your handprint in when you sign up for your membership.  I'm sure it's just a tactic to keep people from sharing their code and thereby costing the Y money, but it makes me feel like I'm working out in a super-secret-spy gym.  Which, I have to say, kinda adds to the appeal.  Agent 00Sexy, reporting for workout!
