After almost two weeks on the road, my wife and I rolled into Virginia City tired and hungry. Our timing was late (7:30pm) and we were disappointed to find out only one place in town offered food this late. I was concerned about this. However, our concerns were soon gone. We ordered a pizza and wings, from a menu with plenty of options. The establishment was moderately busy with live music on stage. I think it was open mic - the music was not even close to my cup of tea! Ok, it was really bad. But, the saloon still had a positive friendly vibe. Drink options were plentiful, just like the menu. I love craft beers and wasn't disappointed. I had the Red Dog ale - this beer was definitely one I enjoyed. Our pizza and wings came out pretty quickly. The style and type of pizza wasn't my favorite but to each their own. The toppings were plentiful. The sauce was tasty. The crust was crisp. And the large was way too much for two people. (We took over half of it back to our motel). We then returned the following night, also for dinner and had just as good of a dinner, if not better, then the night before. Tonight's music was far better! My wife had the French dip and I had the prawns. Both meals were very good and very filling. We sat at the bar and were served very well by an attentive and friendly bartender. Coming from a metro area, the drinks were twice the strength at half the price compared to most anything you'd get in the metro valleys. Thank goodness our motel was with walking distance!! This place is a great stop in a little historical town. Oddly enough, the town rolls up the carpets pretty early. We enjoyed the saloon and walked away satisfied. More...

Best pizza in the area of VC Carson and Dayton. Hands down. The crust is perfect. Not too soft not too crispy. The service was fast and friendly. The Bloody Mary's are not too bad either. Not too surprised that a saloon in Virginia City would have such good food and service since the city aims to please their tourists. Being a local though I'm lucky to be able to come back whenever I want and I love to take my visiting friends here for a break from walking around the town and have a slice of pizza and drink. 6/30/19 I did like the view outside the door from the corner of the bar where i was sitting. Watched the sun set and had a beer. Really enjoyed listening to the music. Mostly local hang out which was really cool..Did order food to go...not bad. Had to go back and get tarter and a bag that I asked for when ordered. But no big deal. In stead of one I got 3 tarter. Yes the food was good. I will be back next summer and hope to go to 5 stars. I hope my seat is open again at the end of the bar. More...

We decided to make a quick stop in VC on our way back to the airport from Tahoe. We didn't get to the city till about 4:30pm so things were pretty much winding up for the day. We were hungry and a quick check of Yelp let us know that Red Dog was still open and had good reviews. We ordered a medium BBQ chicken pizza and added bacon. The pizza was delicious! Nice and crisp crust, not soggy and a great taste! The staff were friendly as well. I'd definitely stop back again on my next trip to VC. More...
