What makes a great website?
A great website is one that achieves its objectives, be it selling products, get people to subscribe to a newsletter, etc. The journey of how the website visitor gets there must be easy and understandable. This includes a great design that looks good on all types of devices, good sales copy, and that all links and processes work properly.
For the owner of the website it also means being able to track visitors behavior on the site so they can continue to improve the performance of the site.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
It is our goal that any development we do for our clients ultimately helps them become more profitable. As such we listen to what they want to build, then we ask questions related to why, what the business outcome or goal is, who their competitors are, examples of design they like, if they have existing assets (logo, design manual, code that has been built, etc.). From there, questions become more granular and tailored to each situation and project, first to find their minimum viable solution in order to get them to market quickly, then related to continued development.
What do you love most about your job?
I love the integrity of everyone on the team. They all take pride in delivering a good product, and as a company we work hard to deliver quality to our clients.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Red Cone Development branched off another software company that developed an industry specific suite of software solutions. As our sister company was heavily associated with their industry, it became necessary to create a separate entity whose focus was on custom projects.
