How did I end up having such a wonderful experience with this lady I'd never met before ... doing something - having my picture taken - which I've never enjoyed?
I found her because of yelp. (I had no choice: I'm writing something for which I MUST have an up-to-date photo of myself.)
How fortunate I am that other yelp people led me to her! I am no spring chicken, and Rayra Soares is the MOST engaging and enjoyable photographer I have ever experienced ...
So what's her secret? Here's what I believe:
* She CLEARLY loves what she's doing
* She CLEARLY is expert at doing it
All this means that -- even for someone like me, approaching her as guardedly as I did - one's resistance and stiffness melts until you end up feeling, "Damn! This isn't painful at all." And then, when you see the results, "Wow!" I love the way this pro has just made me look!"
To sum all it up: Rayra is the the best for your photoshoot! And she produces the best results! Five stars are simply not enough for this professional and what she achieves!

Ray has been so awesome to work with, and I can't even express how thankful we are to have these gorgeous milestones of our baby boy captured! !! They are priceless in my opinion! What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
Lighting and composition! There's a whole thing behind lighting and regarding composition, beware of the background.
Be very careful when selecting where you are going to take a picture. The choice of what appears in the background is as important as what comes in the foreground. Vibrant colors, lines and other objects can interfere or draw attention away from focus. A funny but very common mistake is to take a photo of a person in front of a tree where the branches appear to form horns over his head.

What do you love most about your job?
I love everything about my job. I just love what I do! I was a photographer for Norwegian Cruise Line for 6 months traveling to more than 15 countries, taking pictures of people from all over the world, all over the world. So when I get to photograph people especially kids and fashion, it’s with love, passion, and knowing the responsibility that it’s their legacy of love captured through my eyes that they and the generations that follow will delight in.
The moments I capture with my camera don’t belong to me. They belong to you. They’re your moments. It might be an image that sits next to your bed that you wake up to, a photo that greets you as you walk into your home, an image that reminds you of a loved one that is no longer with you, or that photo that you see every time you go to your phone.
At the heart of all I do is my love for God and His edifying Joy, I seek to glorifying him through my work.
What inspired you to start your own business?
The early years of my photography career left me quite confused since I did a little of everything. I shot special events, engagement sessions, birthday parties and fashion photoshoots. I discovered a passion for the production of lifestyle shoots, photoshoots designed for a style of being or doing. I enjoy connecting my subject directly with something they do daily, and making my subject feel like a star.
During my time in college studying social media, studying various areas of psychology, and following blogs and the life-coach trend, a profound interest arose within me to be part of this arena. To help people who want to increase self-esteem and people who are transitioning into a different phase in life became my calling. During and after my photography sessions, my clients feel more confident and special because of the way my team and I stimulate them. With a genre as broad as lifestyle photography, there are many different interpretations for this type of photography. Many people ask me how much a photographer can interfere in a lifestyle session and retain the authenticity of the shoot. My lifestyle photography is a mixture of acting and reality. The difference is that I only photograph what can happen in real life, and in my opinion, that is where the lifestyle lives.
LifeStyle Session
Many photographers out there consider themselves fashion/lifestyle/portrait photographers. In reality all they do is show up on the day of the shoot and snap some pictures while thinking about hanging out with their friends after you pay them. What separates me as a photographer is both the dedication and consideration to and for my clients as well as the nature of the lifestyle photo-shoot. It is a very unique style, as unique as you are. The process starts with a questionnaire which can be done over the phone or the computer. From this questionnaire, I will be able to build you a few options for your photoshoot and get your input on them. This consultation is 100% FREE and also includes the determination of the location and storyboard of your photoshoot. Pre-production takes 3-4 days, depending on your availability. I always tell my clients is that they are not alone, and this is a reason for my clients' satisfaction. I prevent any type of excuse in the future, such "I shouldn't have used red nails with a blue dress" with pre production, and since we have a make up artist and hair dresser available, we make your photoshoot even more unique.
Online research shows that most photographers don't offer you even 10% of what I do. That is one of the reasons why people give up on having a photoshoot and they fear not knowing how to pose or not liking the photos.
