I know Jim Railton for a very long time, and I must say it came as a surprise to see so many poor reviews. Jim Railton is foremost an honest man he will always try his best to help,his knowledge on antiques is very good specialy when it comes to period furniture. One must not forget Jim auctioneered for one of the big London auction houses. It seems that some people confuse rudeness with being witty. I have been to the monthly auction here a couple of times. It has some interesting lots, excellent bargains and always entertaining. Jim Railton and his team keep it all well organised with a smile. It pays to go and view on the 2 days before. Food van available outside. Well worth a visit. More...

Fantastic auction house which always provides an interesting and amusing day out. Some of the comments regarding Antiques Road Trip are unbelievable. I was in the saleroom on that particular day and the Road Trip team were loud and raucous - an auctioneer cannot possibly concentrate under such circumstances (I speak from personal experience!) Additionally such behaviour is highly disrespectful of other buyers - we're trying to hear what the auctioneer is saying and follow the bidding. Jim Railton is a character, a true English eccentric.
