Rachel is a fitted furniture specialist with 30 years experience. I enjoy designing furniture that fits your house and taste, and meets your storage needs. I can work to contemporary or traditional styles. I have a small friendly team and am happy to provide free no obligation quotationsI have a 30 years of experience in this trade, and specifically with fitted furniture. Alcove units, fitted wardrobes, shelving whether its awkward spaces or library bookcases, under stair storage, fitted desks and mezzanine beds are all things I have done many times. I enjoy the challenge of designing each piece to work well in its surroundings, whether you want a traditional or more contemporary look.

I have a small team of carpenters working with me who are always highly trained and respectful in your space. I am always on hand and often still hands on with the job too.

We have a workshop where we prepare the furniture and do as much of the messy work as possible. If you want a painted finish we can do much of that in the workshop too. We take detailed measurements before the job so we can build accurately in the workshop and there is minimal presence in your home and minimal mess.

As many people these days, I have concerns about the environment and the impact of my work. I am very happy to re use materials where I can and if the client is happy with this approach. I mostly use sustainably sourced soft woods and ply woods and prefer not to use MDF because of the high formaldehyde content. I would not touch any hardwood that I couldn't guarantee the source of.

As a woman even 30 years since I started, it's still unusual in this trade but I find many clients prefer the idea of a woman designing their storage. I am also a good communicator and will make sure all the details are fully discussed before we start the job.
I started out my career in Hackney working for a local builder, and won the best student of the year at Hackney College of Building. I gradually specialised in fitted furniture but I will still do general carpentry jobs depending on how busy I am, and especially if it's as an add on to your fitted furniture.
