What better way to spend a wintry Monday morning than making beautiful festive wreaths with Lisa. As a group we got our creative hats on, and guided by Lisa's expert eye, created our wreaths using pretty and soft foliage, feathers and even brussel sprouts for fun. I met with Lisa to discuss ideas and what flowers would be best used to create the theme I was after and from the beginning she was so knowledgeable and so creative and made me feel so at ease with the decisions we were making and I was absolutely blown away on my wedding day with the bouquets, buttonholes, corsages, top table arrangements and my daughters flower crown that she created. What do you love most about your job?
I enjoy the whole creative process from meeting the client to delivering the finished goods. Sourcing the most amazing flowers to combine together takes a great deal of skill and effort. I go in to London to buy my materials for individual commissions and have a little cluster of top notch wholesalers. You would think that I would be fed up with dawn starts and working into the early hours but I love it. Over the years I have established relationships with numerous suppliers and can find all sorts of treasure to enhance weddings, funerals and luxury bouquets. Corporate clients seem to look forward to each weekly delivery and I enjoy surprising them with my quirky designs.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I was encouraged and supported by friends and family after completing my first professional course. They were amazed at my creations. I started teaching floristry whilst on the course to the Women's Institute members and became a learning assistant within the classroom. I had a huge following that eventually resulted in opening a shop in Finchingfield in 2011. The business grew so much after 2 years I needed more space so relocated to larger premises at The Blue Egg in Great Bardfield. Business quadrupled literally over night. I discovered my passion for wedding floristry and supplying a select few was more financially viable than operating an Interflora type service from a shop. I sold my shops and began working from home. Giving me enormous flexibility and greater attention to detail without the demands of everything that goes along with running a busy shop.

I was nominated by my brides in The Wedding Industry Awards as Regional Finalist for best wedding florist in 2015. I received many lovely comments from the plethora of brides that voted for me. I also received a lovely review from The Good Florist Guide stating that I had exuberant creative flair and clearly stunning wedding flower design. My floristry has featured in a number of wedding magasines and Essex Life. I have experience in working at all the local venues such as Castle Hedingham, Smeetham Hall Barn, Gosfield Hall, The White Hart at Great Yeldham, The Reid Rooms, Hylands House, The Fennes, Prested Hall and many more. I am always happy to communicate with brides across social media, email or text any time. I am extremely adaptable and resourceful to accommodate local deliveries of hand tied bouquets or funeral flowers . Everything is freshly purchased for each client and made to order to a very high standard.
