I really can’t say enough good things about PUSH 40! Its evident that every coach is passionate about what they do! The coaches and other members make it such a positive and motivating environment to be in, its truly a community. While the maximum class size is 24 the coaches never fail to give you an individualized experience. The workouts are quick and are never boring, so time flies! I went for one free class while in a serious funk of not working out consistently and joined that same day! The PUSH community has a gentle way of holding people accountable and that’s exactly what I needed! I’m so grateful that I joined and only wish I would have joined sooner! More...

Passionate coaches, amazing climate, great workout! I absolutely love Push 40! I am so glad that I chose to join this gym. There is truly a sense of community when you walk through the doors of Push 40. The coaches offer a tremendous amount of motivation and encouragement and the positivity among members is something I haven’t experienced at other gyms. Working out here essentially feels like having a personal trainer and a group of friends who all motivate each other to meet and exceed their personal goals. More...

I rarely write reviews for anything, But I honestly feel this service deserves recognition. First, Push 40 is not a chain. The owner and operator designed the fitness center and program himself. My wife started taking classes at Push 40 about 3 months ago. Since starting she has asked me multiple times to give it a try. As a long time weight lifter I didn't want to break from my normal routine to try a group fitness class. But, after I recognized the progress my wife had made in such a short period of time I decided it wouldn't hurt to give it a try. So I sent the owner, Dan, a message on Facebook and he immediately invited me for a free trial class (no strings attached). Once I arrived for class Dan gave me a quick synopsis on each of the stations and how the program worked. The program is HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) based. The workout consists of four stations: curved treadmill, weights, assault bike, and TRX. Long story short It was one of the best cardio workouts I have had since I wrestled in high school and it only took 40 minutes out of my day. It doesn't end there, I personally like the program for a couple of very specific reasons (other than the fact that it kicks my butt). The first is that your progress is measured based on distance travelled/speed on the treadmill and bike. This really brings out the competitive spirit in yourself. Later that evening I found myself excited for my next workout (yes I said excited about a cardio workout) just to improve on the distances I had traveled earlier that day. The second is that you can immediately tell that the owner Dan is very passionate about improving the physical fitness of those who attend his class. He is very honed in on everyones fitness level and how well they should be preforming. He doesn't let you slack off!! He gives you goals to strive for and will push you to achieve them. Needless to say I have decided to continue to take classes at Push 40 to help supplement my current weight training. I strongly recommend anyone looking for a great workout in a great environment to give it a try. More...

I can’t say enough good about Push 40. A friend invited me a year ago to attend a class with her and my only regret is not joining sooner. She told me it changed her life and I understand how she feels now. The workout forces you to push yourself and encourages you to keep improving. After not working out for almost five years I can truly say I found my place here. While the workout is what brings you in you gain so much more as the atmosphere Dan, the other coaches, and members create is truly special. In an effort to maintain physical fitness, I feel as though I have tried just about everything there is out there from at home DVD work outs, to searching online for different things I can do and trying them out at the gym. A little over a month ago I decided to try out Push40 and I have never second guessed my decision since then. It puts everything before this to shame. Dan and all of team at Push40, go above and beyond the expectation of an ordinary trainer/coach and make sure that everyone is moving at a pace suitable for them and/or pushing you a little past that. Dan, the owner, and I met in college about 15 years ago. At the time, I was running cross country and competing at a pretty high level. Those days are gone, and I have succumbed to a life of failed New Year's resolutions and occasional mud races. I write that with a smirk, but the truth is the truth... I hadn't been in a gym since Penn State. Since I was inexperienced, Dan asked my to come into Push 40 and do a beta routine. He knew I'd be honest.

Dan set my wife and I up with Sarah, one of the "Coaches." She spent time discussing our goals for the workout, our form, and how the routine would progress. I'll admit, I was a bit timid. Bikes and treadmills are one thing, but these machine's look like they just came off NASA's production line. If I could draw a better parallel, I would; but I'n not a gym guy. The treadmills don't 'turn on.' They move with you. I'd say they are "state-of-the-art," to say the least. The treadmills kind of reminded me of how a Segway works. TRX was much harder that I thought, but enjoyed the challenge of using my own body weight as resistance.

We did 40 second intervals of rest and "Push." The music was bumpin' and the neon lights make the room come alive. It's like a workout party. The time flies. I really liked it. Any stereotype of gyms that I had previously, and ignorantly, thought didn't exist. I'd do this again.

After the workout, Dan and I shifted from a workout discussion of, "See buddy, you can do this." to a personal discussion of, "What's something like this going to cost me?" Dan showed me his website with the figures and asked, "How do these numbers look?" Now, I don't know how to keep my body in shape, but I do understand costs. At a glance, the price seems a little bit higher than you'd pay at another gym. But, Push 40's prices come with Coaches, a scientifically proven workout method, and the ability to cater to each individual's specific physical condition. So for someone like me, who would end up walking into a gym and not know a single thing, it's perfect. Sarah's Coaching alone was worth it for me.

I looked at my bank statement and noticed everything that I do to deter myself from going to a gym. What I pay in cable, Netflix, and HBO Now, along with two iPhone bills (wife), added to a steady diet of Chipotle and boxed-trash dinners far outweighs the ratio of what I should be investing into my health.

I found myself googling new running shoes when I got home. I'm back on the wagon... See you over there... I'll be the sweaty guy in a bandanna.

My boyfriend and I took our first class last night along with our friend Melanie. All 3 of us are active gym go'ers and Mel and I are yogis/barre go'ers as well. I teach spinning. Blah blah blah. We wanted something different and of course knowing Dan from grad school... wanted to try it! Overall great workout. My legs were burning on the airbike. I love TRX and all the bands have to offer. If you think TRX will be easy because it's just body weight.... think again. The curved treadmills are extremely different than a normal electronic treadmill. You actually have to push off the ground to move the tread - a stark difference from the usual. The free weight section will offer many variations for strength training. Lastly the core workout at the end was killer. My boyfriend said his abs were going to be sore the next morning

This workout is for anyone. All three of us were drenched in sweat. Music was great. Staff was very friendly and motivating as well as attentive to all skill levels. Price is comparable and in some cases better than other studios. I've been to places that offer this type of work out as well as yoga studios and for personalized, well crafted workouts it is worth the value. I personally buy $100 increments for yoga and that gets me 10 classes and I pay $25/mo for the normal planet fitness membership. Fitness is a lifestyle I'm willing to pay for.

I stopped in to Push 40 Fitness for a class during a weekend back in Pittsburgh.

I’ve been to few different fitness classes in NYC but Dan is running something serious down in Pittsburgh. The workout kicked my ass. The class is structured around interval training so you pretty much control your own workout. Regardless of fitness level no one is ever the “best” or the “worst” during the session. (I avoid the people who mention how they were “Number 1!” on the leaderboard at SoulCycle.)

You may move at your own pace at each interval but not to get confused - between the Push40 coach walking around and setting individual goals for everyone in the class and the music they are pumping into the place –you don’t slack.

Between structure of the class, quality of the equipment, cleanliness and the individualized approach that the each coach takes during their session, I’ll be heading back during my trips home.
