Pure Aperture Photography

I couldn't speak enough praise for Nic at Pure Aperture! I thought we would never find a wedding photographer near us who we could afford to hire without sacrificing quality. Then we somehow miraculously stumbled upon the Pure Aperture website. His style of what he called 'Portrait Journalism' gave us some more traditional posed and family shots as well as amazing candid shots all throughout the day, leaving us with some of the most beautiful and authentic moments from our special day forever captured. Nic was also simply a great guy who we felt genuinely cared about us. He left us feeling personally and professionally at ease with his skill and his work, fully trusting him. And when the day arrived we often barely noticed his presence, allowing us to really focus on what the day was truly about; us and our commitment to one another. Choosing Nic and Pure Aperture photography was by far the greatest decision we made during our wedding planning! It was the best investment we made and worth every penny and even more to have our stunning photos of the day that we can look back on the rest of our lives. We had Nic as our photographer for our wedding. We had the silver package and he personalised the package to our needs by letting us exchange the bridal preparations to the engagement shoot. At the engagement shoot Nic made us feel very comfortable as none of us are comfortable having our photos taken. When we received the photos from the engagement shoot, we were overwhelmed with the quality and couldn't wait for him to capture our wedding.
The day of the wedding Nic was there from start to finish. He was more like a guest as well as capturing all our special moments. He communicated with all our guests making them feel at ease when having their photos taken. We have received our wedding photos and couldn't believe how many moments he had captured. We are looking forward to him doing our wedding album. 5 stars is not enough to give Nic as he is very professional, friendly and very down to earth. Nothing was to much trouble and we would highly recommend him to anyone.

Very intimate wedding photos amidst a very busy, exciting day. Nic ensured we had a variety of photos taken in different places capturing both staged and natural moments. He was an amazing photographer, very pleasant but also assertive when getting family together for photos. He also brought a second photographer Taylor with him who was very innovative and caught all the bridal prep on camera also a great pleasure to have her working with us on our big day. I would highly recommend Nic's photography courses. I attended the 'Photography Starter Kit' course recently and I was very very impressed with the content and how easy it was to understand all the subject matter. Nic was the photographer for our wedding on 1st July at York's Merchant Taylors' Hall.

Nick impressed us from the pre-wedding meeting as being confident in his art, but also a good listener receptive to our wishes. He had also been the photographer for a friend's wedding and we were impressed by his results for that assignment.

Nic's approach is a calm and relaxed one: definitely for us an approach that was welcome given the many other stresses of a wedding day.

Nic was with us individually for shots of preparations, low key but with wonderful results. Although he never impeded our celebrations he managed wonderful shots both formal and informal. There are a number of informal shots that just capture moments perfectly, to the point of bringing a tears to the eyes.

Although relaxed Nic did show that he could be firm to get the job done: the bride wanted to party rather have photographs taken, a gentle pep talk from Nic to emphasise the importance of certain shots proved crucial. The impediment to partying was very minor and the bride happy she was persuaded!

The photos we have we will cherish forever, and we happily recommend Nic to anyone looking for a wedding photographer.

Nic was the photographer for our wedding and he did a Fantastic job. He made everyone feel at ease and got some amazing unexpected shots.

Our wedding was campervan themed and Nic made some really great suggestions for photos with the campervan for our creative photos and these are some of my favourite photos of the day.

He had his work cut out as I really don't like my photo being taken but he relaxed me and the end result are some amazing pictures.

I would definitely recommend Nic for any event, he mixed with the guests and many have commented how lovely he was.

Myself and husband cannot thank Nic enough. He wasn't just our photographer but a very warm and welcome guest. We enjoyed every moment with him from the start of the engagement shoot to the teary moment of saying farewell at the wedding. Nic from Pure Aperture was our photographer on Saturday 18th Feb 17, we had a home visit to see what we wanted and then he was available on the day. We got married at the Downe Arms, Wykeham nr Scarborough and he spent time scoping the venue. On the day Nic blended in yet got the shots we wanted. He put us both at ease too which was great. We chose Pure Aperture to do our wedding photography and in short, we made the absolutely right choice!

We first chose Aperture because Nic was one of the very few that was flexible on price and actually cared that we were happy that the cost was within our budget and offered amazing value for the standard of service he provided.

Nic at Pure Aperture didn't just photograph our wedding he captured the the essence of the day and immortalised it in film.
This may sound a tad dramatic but speaking as someone who doesn't like being photographed he did an incredible job!
We had an engagement photo shoot with Nic which made such a difference as we had an opportunity before the big day to learn how to be natural in front of a camera.
On our wedding day I never felt like I was being "hounded" by the photographer, Nic was discreet and unobtrusive and was more of a guest at our wedding. He gave excellent instruction when required but also gave us the freedom to just be us and this combination produced some fabulous photos.
Nic took my ideas, likes and dislikes on board and didn't pressure me into having a style of photography that I didn't want, he was always readily available to answer any queries and settle any pre-wedding jitters.
