Professional and talented shows - perfect for young audience (only 35-45 minutes). Would definitely recommend.
Only one suggestion to theater owners - please make possible online purchasing tickets.

I cry at every performance. The full sized live people puppeteers/players/puppets astound me. My senses awaken. This IS "Theatre" !

Lots of reviews on the magic this venue brings to children. Very true. However I attend simply for my own pleasure. The plays are delightful in all ways. Highly recommend.

Everybody should bring their kids and enrich their childhood with this experience. My 3 yo loved the show and still remembers his puppet show experience. I have to bring him back.

Love this place, the people and what their mission is for the Detroit Community but for the performing arts as well.

I took my K-5 grade drama classes on a field trip to see Mouk's Adventures earlier this month. My students enjoyed the puppet show and the hands on puppet making workshop afterward. I can't say enough good things about the staff who were friendly and accommodating. I would definitely recommend visiting PuppetART especially if you have children, grandchildren or students. What an incredible show!!! I can't even begin to describe how impressive the whole thing was. It's more than just a puppet show with all the music, singing, and dancing. I can't wait to see the next show!

Never disappointed ..... A short trip to Detroit lead to a leap into culture and history. My grandmother decided to learn the Japanese language at 80 yrs of age at U of D after traveling the world. The Crain Maiden was amazing.
I have always wanted to go Japan and puppeteers let me look through the keyhole. Thanks PuppetArt.

What an amazing show! I have never seen art done in this way. Just in total awe! Was kind of bummed though because we were hoping to do the workshop but was told at the show that you needed 7 or more people to do it, which was not stated on the website or when reserving seats. .nor was it mentioned at the beginning or the end of the show to promote that more people were needed but other then that amazing performance!!!!! I thought this was great. Show was about an hour long. You could really see the artisianship that's gone into making the puppets. This is not a great idea for a 2y/o who hasn't had her nap yet. No drinking or eating in the theatre. I had to keep leaving to give my little one snacks. I'll bring her back when she's a little older. The woman who introduced the show and gave the conclusion was lacking a ton of enthusiasm. Didn't seem like she cared for her job very much. Overall it was a nice experience. I've been telling lots of other people about it and plan on coming back. More...

PuppetART Theater is a surprising little gem right downtown just north of the old Hudson's space and near the Opera House.  They put on honest-to-goodness, real-live puppet shows every weekend afternoon, mostly for kids, but some for adults.  They have been in the same building at 25 E. Grand River for almost 20 years (they go waaaaay back!).  In addition to the puppet-show stage, the building has a very nice museum (free) showing very interesting developments of puppetry around the world.  They also offer puppetry workshops.  They are a non-profit so the prices are low and I'm looking forward to attending one of their shows.  Parking is great at the nearby new structure called "The Z Lot". Definitely the BEST puppet show I have ever seen.  Set to music with no words, The puppets and puppeteers were absolutely magnificent. Beautiful, emotion-filled, skillful, a joy for adults and children alike.  I took my 2 year old son (26 months to be exact) and he and I both sat, spellbound, through the entire show.  A MUST-SEE for anyone who enjoys the arts at all. Have you seen the show "Dream Tigers" at the PuppetArt Theater  We have!  It has AWESOME puppets.  They teach you about the 4 puppet families before the show starts. We were shocked that real people were in the puppet show.  We thought it would be ONLY puppets.  We really liked the character Nino.  He was so funny, like an "animal trapped in a boy body"! The show was funny, but a little bit scary sometimes.  It was EPIC.  The witch scared us but we were okay.  You need to go see it too!- Detroit 1st Graders (who went there on a field trip) More...

My visit to PuppetArt was the first in a series of circumstantial events that made me learn to love Detroit.  A Chi-town friend asked me if I'd like to go to see a Russian puppet show.  It's not like there are Russian puppet theatres in every city, so we had to go all the way to Detroit.  I said yes, of course. This was back in 2009, some ten Detroit vacations ago.Honestly I'm really not that into puppets, even Russian ones, but I can attest that the show I saw was remarkable in its ability to captivate and soothe a house full of hyperactive children. This is a low-key spot, and they have sort of a puppet museum in the lobby. It really seems like the perfect place to bring kids.I had less luck paying attention from my seat, sandwiched between a four year old in front and his mother in back.  "I GOT A EYE VIEW," the mother whispered through her teeth and at her child.  "KEEP QUIET OR I'LL HIT YOU WITH MY STICK!"  For the next 45 minutes, all I could think about was how I'd better behave. You really get a unique experience when you come here.  It is only 10 dollars but they DO NOT take credit card.  They do one play per month and perform on Saturdays.  They ask you to make a reservation by calling a head.  This is great for kids, but also for grownups.  I have no children and loved every minute.  You can view their schedule online on their web page...they also have a fb page.  I was lucky enough to see sleeping beauty....it was super cool.  It was with no words, but only great music.  Kids followed along just fine.  The sets were so cool.  They put their own spin on sleeping beauty....they felt that the price who sucessfully woke sleeping beauty was successful, because his father taught him with puppets.  The puppeteers are from Russia and taught there...they talk to the audience before and after...and even offer a workshop on puppets.  They do sell a few snacks and has a restroom....Get there early so you can look at the puppet museum.  I cannot wait to go back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Puppets are amazing....Mr. Roger's, Seasme Street, and don't forget the Vann Trapp family in the Sound of Music.  Please go for something really unqiue to do!
