Have lived in North Dakota for 8 months and had basically given up on eating out because of the low quality we’ve gotten everywhere. Stopped in for lunch on a visit to Devil’s Lake and was very impressed! We searched online for a restaurant that served walleye or trout since the lake is stocked but could only find burgers and pizza at most places (very odd for the largest body of water in the state). Proz has a few walleye dishes for lunch and a couple more options for dinner. We tried the walleye Reuben and fish tacos, both were absolutely delicious!!! The blackened fish was cooked to a perfect juicy, flakey finish and the toppings were fresh and well balanced with the meat. Serving size was just right for lunch on a hot day. We also had pretzel bites which were hot, perfectly buttered and salted, and fresh (fresh bread also seems to be an oddity in ND). The patio was packed but it didn’t feel crowded and was quiet enough to enjoy our lunch. The Woodland beach was close enough to monitor children (there were a few families with kids running back and forth from the beach and eating) without being a nuisance. It was truly the first time I’ve enjoyed eating out since moving here, thank you!! I highly recommend and will definitely be back! Note: patio is NOT dog friendly (signs at the door and at every table noting this) I debated giving only 4-stars for this reason but with as good as the food was, I’ll give the full 5 :) More...

In Devils Lake to enjoy a nice view of the lake, drinks and dinner, this is it. It is next to woodlands resort and overlooks the lake. It's part of a camping/fishing resort so no dress code is required. Do try the fresh fish as it's outstanding. Of course in the Midwest you have to try the Mexican pizza (it's a thing) which although may sound iffy, is really very good! Their main chef is a trained Cordon Bleu graduate, so you might find some things on the menu, not found elsewhere. Sometimes during peak times, it can get busy. Beautiful spot on the lake! We sat at the spacious bar and had excellent service! The beer was cold and the food was awesome. As an app we had fried pickles and an order of steak tips. Both were done to perfection. I then had a made to order pizza that had the most incredible crust. Unfortunately I couldn't eat it all, I was stuffed. My wife had the prime rib sandwich.
