My favorite oyster bar ever! Jeremy and Mario have been the best staff I ever had coming to a restaurant. Since walking in and seating, they have been the most friendly and entertaining at servicing my friend and me for Happy Hour. Their oysters are phenomenal and never disappoints. I thoroughly enjoy the drink Bees Knees with my food, so refreshing and delightful. They also showed me their theater where they have shows, which we will be attending in a few weeks! You'll love the decor and the atmosphere they have to offer at Prohibition! At the very end, their special sweet shot was the clutch to the meal. Tasted just like banana foster ice cream. Came into The Oyster Bar at Prohibition this evening with my girlfriend and had a blast. Cocktails and oysters were great. Chase did an amazing job of taking care of us and checking in on us, and Jeremy went out of his way to show us the theatre and talked us into coming back for a show and possibly for New Year's Eve. We came here right as the Oyster bar and the kitchen was closing. We had a small group of people, two of them were dying to try oysters before flying out the next day. Jeremy and the resultant manager were kind enough to reopen for us and take care of us. We ordered a few dozen oysters and they were fantastic! Had the best oyster experience of my life. They gave me these oyster crackers that cranked this meal up to 10. Had no idea what I was missing out on ,Jeremy turned this meal into one of the best I have ever had , plus this onion vinegar based sauce was the bees knees!!!

Love this place!!  Great service and ambiance.  Between me and my 3 friends we had just about every drink on the menu.  All were fantastic and every new concoction was better than the previous.  It's as if, the bartender, Johnathon became stronger and more powerful as the night went on.  We even walked in right after the kitchen closed and Jeremy was sympathetic to our jones'ing for oysters and shucked us up a couple dozen.  Will definitely come back for the shows. Went for happy hour oysters, had the charbroiled and raw - they were good, but the price was amazing, $1 and .50 cents per piece, respectively. A hidden gem only a few blocks from wherever you are with some of the best H-Town vibe the city has to offer.  Made the seven block trek through the late-afternoon humidity on the search for dynamite happy hour and oysters.  Walked up to a true prohibition-era building with a local photog out front doing a pin-up girl style photo shoot.  Already knew I'd made the right choice.Sat at the old-school bar (the kind you see in the movies, you know-the classic westerns and gangster flicks) and ordered the best $5.00 (shoulda been $15) old-fashioned I've had since my fave dive in NYC.  Not sure if he was the manager or not but Jeremy came by to personally introduce himself and make sure my 1/2 dozen Gulf Coast and 1/2 dozen Chargrilled NOLA oysters were top-notch and they were.  The rest of the staff was engaging and helpful.  Nice service all around.The 50's era rockabilly music playing and old soda-fountain art on the walls was the icing on the cake.  I'm not excited to just come back to The Oyster Bar at Prohibition but I'm excited to come back to Houston if this is the direction they're going.  Well done! Prohibition takes you back in time - the decor, the uniforms, the time and attention given to hand-crafting each and every cocktail. The bartenders know their drink menu and provide great recommendations. They can also make you pretty much whatever you ask for even if it's not on the menu; they really know their stuff! I always go for whatever smokey mezcal drink they make me! Also, the oysters really are all they're cracked up to be! I'm a fan of the signature chargrilled myself. I had to remove one star, though, because there is just not enough seating in this place, which makes it kind of a bummer if you go and can't be served! The variety of oyster selection was amazing. I've been wanting to try this place for the longest and I was definitely not disappointed when I finally went. Happy hour is 50 cent oysters and we will back for that. The oysters were really good and depending on your preferences, some were favored than others but ALL WERE YUMMY. The night we went, there was only. one oyster shucker so wait time to get our food was kind of timely but so worth it. Overall a fun and great experience and only complaint would be parking. That's a no brainer since location is in downtown. If they were to open another location with better parking, that'd be my new spot. More...

After waiting 2 long hours, the oysters were pretty tasty. The service was not the best. Maybe they were having an off day. I just didn't understand why no one came over to update us on what was going on. We never found out either. It was taking forever to get drinks as well. I may go back again in the future. You can't beat $0.50 oysters during happy hour! I don't think you can get that price anywhere in Houston. If you can, let me know. Happy hour is M-F 4pm-7pmThe only catch is that you must order a beverage. There are 5 different ways you can get your oysters prepared. I would recommend ordering half a dozen of each flavor. Then order more of the ones you likeMy favorites were the Chargrilled Garlic-Fennel and Chargrilled Chimichurri. So much flavor and very juicy.  Service sucks. One of my favorite places for happy hour!1. Who doesn't like 50 Cent oysters?2. The drinks are on top of it!3. Servers/bartenders serve and dress the part!
