Proclass is honestly PROCLASS. I never previously worked with a web designer. I presented Chris with an unusual project: a website to sell a yacht located in a foreign country. I know about yachts. He knows about websites. Chris is fantastic at collaboration. I told him about yachts. He actually listened and then asked questions which helped me refine the information and data to be presented. We were advertising a single, unique, and very high quality object. Over 50% of the qualified persons who responded via the website said that the quality of the website reflected the quality of the yacht being advertised. Proclass Web Design is a fantastic company. I started my business about 6 years ago and had a friend do all of my web work. The site looked nice but was ranking horrible. I found Proclass Web Design on the Park City Chamber of Commerce and gave them a call. Chris met with me and discussed all of my options. Not only did he have me on the top page of google searches within the year but he was very flexable in working with me and my budget. What makes a great website?
It needs to be attractive and reflect the type of business it is built around. It needs to be intuitive to use and assist the visitor in finding what they need quickly and with the fewest missteps. It should convey professionalism and build a sense of trust in the visitor that they are looking at a business they can feel comfortable engaging. It should invite and encourage the visitor to engage whether by calling, downloading material, or signing up for a newsletter. And, it should be helpful, and useful, not just sell, sell, sell.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
What is your budget? What is your time frame? How much time are you willing/able to devote to creating content? Are you a good writer? Can you take direction? Are you willing to hire out the writing? Are you a "hands off" client willing to turn all decisions over to the developer? Or are you prone to micro-management, or somewhere in between? Be honest about this with yourself AND with your developer. Some developers are fine with lots of client side input, others are not. At ProClass knowing how a client works best in a project is key to having that project run smoothly. Asking questions is imperative to not only understanding and estimating a project correctly but to being able to work together and have a rewarding development.
What do you love most about your job?
Helping business owners figure out what they need and then navigate the intricacies of designing, developing and marketing a website ... is very satisfying, especially if they have had a bad experience somewhere else.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Being an entrepreneur I always needed a website for my new businesses. Working with tech people more often than not left me frustrated, behind schedule and over budget. I knew there had to be a better way and I was lucky enough to team up with an excellent design firm who loves building website frameworks which I, as a business consultant, finish off for the client and customize to their needs. It has been a winning formula for over 15 years now. From an SEO standpoint I began studying and implementing SEO strategies very early on and enjoyed a large amount of success from my efforts. including taking a few of my website project to very successful sales. I enjoy teaching other small business how to rank better and watching them have success as well.
