We got Primo DJ's contact information from our Reception Venue's catering magazine.  It was incredibly easy to communicate with Primo and he even called the week before to ensure that he pronounced all of our wedding party names correctly.  Setting up the cocktail hour, dinner, dance and intro list songs was super easy.  They sent out the information via email and their program was easy to find specific songs to add to our playlist.  They were easy to get in contact with if we had questions and they always responded promptly.  During the reception we turned around and noticed our guests with all these fun hats on and in the corner of the dance floor they were playing limbo.  Primo was awesome to work with and they even took some photos during the event for us to keep.  We would definitely recommend Primo DJ. Where do I even start?!.. Diane was not only my DJ, but helped coordinate my wedding to make sure it went smoothly and on time. She kept the positive energy flowing at all times and kept our guests wanting more. Hey Yelp, I should have sent in my review last December but I haven't been actively yelping. I do remember this though, DJ Primo was working the hype at my holiday party in the Museum of Man. Many people liked this DJ a lot and was very flexible with my song requests. He also turned up the hype on our Dance Off, which he really made the contestants work it and work out to his broad mix and fade. In 2008, I attended a wedding where Primo was the DJ and I was so impressed with him, I swore that if I ever got married, I would track him down and book my wedding according to his availability.

I got engaged in May 2012 and DJ Primo was the first vendor I sought after and booked immediately. My husband and I were married on July 14, 2013 and Primo did not let us down. All of our guests were raving about him. He was entertaining, he kept the party going, and he efficiently took cues from us and our guests when it was time to change up the music. He did everything we asked him to, from cutting certain songs short (the father-daughter and mother-song songs were really long) to dedicating songs to my husband's 90-year old grandparents. He played our video montage on his projector and everything turned out perfect!

Our guests were most impressed with how involved he was with our wedding. His centerpiece game got everyone up and going, and some of our guests told us they had never seen people having so much fun at a wedding before. Primo topped it off with his skateboarding performance, which everyone loved and cheered on. At the end of the night, several people asked us for his contact information for their events.

Thank you again Primo, for putting on such an amazing show, and thank you Diane, for working with us throughout the year to ensure that our day would turn out flawless. You guys definitely made our special day exceptionally memorable! More...

This is a bit late but better late than never. I have to say we were very impressed and happy with our DJ Louis. Sorry if I spelled his name wrong! He was a sweetheart and really did everything in his power to get people on the dance floor for our reception. He played all the songs we listed and songs that matched up well. My friends and I are pretty picky about dance music so I can't fault him for playing one or two that we asked to be switched. We don't like the typical wedding music or things like "Call me maybe" or "Shake it off." Nothing against those songs, but I grew up on the east coast with reggae and hip-hop. That being said, he was still amazing and understanding when some of our activities got cancelled (like the money dance). I would love to have him DJ again if we ever have a future event. The only reason I am giving 4 instead of 5 stars is because of logistical/planning hiccups NOT because of DJ skills and music.Before I share that info, let me say how detailed and organized this family owned company is! They gave us a wonderful price since our budget was small and my partner and I were paying for things ourselves. After signing the contract, Primo DJ's sent me a whole spreadsheet for the day of the wedding and reception to make sure everything was on time and had smooth transitions. Without this, I don't know how we would have made it work! They took care of everything and all we had to do was say what songs we wanted and for what parts of the day. They even played the music at our ceremony which was at a completely different location than the wedding.Okay so, why we give a 4 out of 5. We are not a typical couple and yes I know many people say that hahaha. But seriously! Examples! We didn't want a wedding party dance which is when the wedding party gets on the dancefloor first to hype everyone up. Not our thing. Not to mention some of the party doesn't dance so there is that. Weddings for us are about being comfortable and enjoying the time...not awkward "this is what you do" type stuff. So anytime something like this came up, I felt like it was pulling teeth to not have it happen. This also came up when we said we were going to have photos taken at the beginning of the reception but just after the entrance. We were told something along the lines of," Your guests will get bored." We had numerous activities for our family and friends to partake in during that time so it wasn't an issue. However, even if it was...it was our day not the companies. After one thing was addressed I got a response like, "We have been doing this for x amount of years and x amount of weddings..." I totally get that and I love that the company has experience, however...every couple and wedding are not and should not be the same. Listen to your couples and their wishes. That is all I wanted. Not someone to tell me how our day should go because "we've done this many weddings for this many years....we know best."But as I stated at the beginning of this long review.....Louis was amazing and I wouldn't have it any other way if I could go back! We used our Primo DJ's for our wedding and we truly loved working with them. From the start, Diane was quick to respond and set up a meeting with us. During our first meeting, she walked us through how the ceremony and reception would go. She is incredibly knowledgeable and has many good ideas/solutions. As the wedding got closer, she helped put together our timeline. At the wedding, she was interactive but not overly so (exactly what we wanted). I pretty much didn't stop dancing my whole wedding. I loved every bit of it, I've never loved seeing so many sweaty dancing singing faces. I really needed a bilingual DJ it was delivered, my family loved the music and I felt culturally very represented. The flow of the music was perfect and he definitely went in line with our request. I had been in a wedding years ago where Primo was the dj. He did an amazing job keeping everyone up and involved in the party. Primo was booked on the date of my wedding so we decided to go with his wife, Diane. My mom and I met with Diane for a consultation and she had a great vibe that made us feel at ease. She had he equipment and lighting set up and did a little demo of her work. She has years of experience and I felt comfortable with my choice. We had Diane DJ our July 2016 wedding. From day one she was extremely professional. We met face-to-face and she showed us her equipment and various lighting packages. She showed us a demonstration of everything including how she would sound on the mic.She asked us personal questions such as how involved would you like me to be and what type of music fits your friends and family.The company has an online software that allows the couple to pick various dancing and dinner songs. Diane also had a very detailed timeline and went step by step. It was clear she had a great deal of experience (over 20 years!). We were able to ask her advice you might not typically ask your DJ. She also surprised us and said she takes pictures on her phone during the event. That was such a bonus!! We were able to get soooo many extra shots. A week before the event, Diane was willing to meet with us again to go over the final timeline and song selections. She was positive and extremely helpful.On the day of the event, Primo DJ (Diane) showed up super early to set up and make sure everything was perfect. She was an absolute hit. My husband and I just had our wedding this past weekend at BNS Brewing in Santee, and we hired DJ Diane for our event. We couldn't be any happier with our decision! !!She really did get everyone up and dancing, and that's exactly what I wanted. My fiancé and I booked Primo to DJ our "engagement party" back in March at the OceanView at Ballast Point.  (our engagement party was actually a surprise wedding, and Primo helped make it flawless! )Primo made everything so easy.  After his phone call with us, we felt a huge weight lifted off of our shoulders.  He knew exactly what we were going for, what music/vibe we wanted throughout the night, how to keep the energy levels up, etc.  He showed up plenty early, his set up looked great, and, bottom line: he nailed it!  Thanks to Primo and Diane for making our wedding perfect!P.S. Primo DJ'd our wedding in Point Loma at the Admiral Kidd conference center on the naval base. It was raining during the ceremony and our ceremony was in a covered area outside.  The reception was inside. Both the ceremony and reception were on schedule and so memorable. He played all of our requested music and kept the schedule flowing. He got everyone on the dance floor and had them playing the 'centerpiece' game which was so fun! Perfect 5 stars for DJ Primo is a no brainer.We booked Primo DJ for our wedding in July and I have nothing but great stuff to say about Diane and Primo.  When we first met Diane and Primo, we immediately loved their lively, excited personalities.  On top of that, they had all their equipment already setup!  We were able to see a live showing of what their packages offered and their unique designs they created specifically for wedding venues.  We really loved that Diane was extremely organized and wouldn't mind when we had to change the wedding schedule a few times.  She is an extremely patient and helpful organizer!When it came to the wedding, we were extremely amazed how many people Primo was able to get on the dance floor.  Not only that, they all stayed on the dance floor!  Our guests came to us afterwards and commented on how great our DJ was and how engaged Diane and Primo was in catering to not only our music needs, but also to helping out by taking photos!  This was a great surprise because we weren't expecting to see any photos at least until a month or two later from our professional photographer we hired.The one thing I especially liked was that I didn't feel like I selected enough songs and based on our song selections, they were able to fill in songs we didn't select that were dead on to the type of music we enjoyed.  The guests also loved the songs that some sang with the songs while they were dancing!  Thank you Primo and Diane for both coming out to our wedding!  We would recommend the both of you easily if anyone asked for a DJ for any event they cater.  Thanks again! We hired Primo for our July 3, 2015 wedding and could not have been more pleased with our decision. We hired Primo DJs for our wedding on 5/31/15, after they were recommended to us by our venue, and we could not have been more pleased! After meeting Primo and Diane, we knew right away that it was a perfect fit. Diane's organization while we were planning made the process a breeze! Primo was able to get all the music that we requested, many of which were quite random, including a song from the Star Wars movies! He even called us a couple days before the wedding to make sure he had the correct pronunciation of the names of our bridal party for the introduction. Before I walked down the aisle, I could hear that the song we chose for the processional was about to end before the bridal party had finished walking, but Primo saved the day and looped it flawlessly! We had a small budget left for our wedding DJ but that didn't mean that we had to sacrifice quality, Primo was GREAT! From the very beginning meeting with him he helped figure out my vision even though I wasn't even too sure what I wanted. He has been doing this as a career for so long he knows what works. I loved how I could build playlists online so he could view my top songs to play, so there was constant communication before the actual day of. The day of the wedding Primo was there early to set up his systems and played for the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. We decided to use Primo DJs for our wedding last year, and they were excellent! We needed a bilingual (English/Spanish) DJ, so they arranged for DJ Raymon to work with us. When we initially met with Diane, she showed us a number of different lighting options, showing that they can accommodate many different needs and styles, but we went with a more basic package. DJ Raymon did a fantastic job, especially mixing up different styles of music for everyone to enjoy. We had people dancing from the first second the music started until the end. DIane from Primo was AMAZING! She totally exceeded all our expectations of what a D.J does. First off, we had no day of coordinator and I had no idea about the procession of a wedding. From day one Diane organizes a schedule with you to make sure you get all the formalities of the wedding accomplished such as father daughter dance, toasts etc. She does a great job at moving the reception along and helping you stay on schedule so your not rushing to get things done. Prior to the wedding she gathers all your song requests and honors them. She is always available to talk and got back to me right away if I had any questions. During the reception she had the crowd going and she is very good at getting people on the dance floor. She also offers up lighting for super cheap that added a perfect touch to my reception. Diane was the DJ for our wedding on 2-13-15. She was great. Arrived on time, was professional and made a point to come say hello and let me know she was there. Throughout the night she kept things moving and got everyone up and dancing. She played all our "must have" songs and a bunch of other great stuff. Primo was the DJ at our wedding.  He was recommended to us by our wedding coordinator and he was absolutely fantastic.  He and Diane helped get us organized for the reception by working with us to create a schedule.  Both he and Diane were extremely responsive and professional during the planning process.  Our first dance song wasn't in his already extensive library, but he was able to obtain it for our dance.  From start to finish, Primo kept our guests engaged the entire night. Diane was the DJ for our wedding on September 06 2013! I met her when i was 18 years old when she DJ'd my 18th birthday party and i just had to have her DJ my wedding too! She made our wedding ceremony and reception the way we wanted it, it was perfect. The music was great and she really gets everyone onto the dance floor with her upbeat personality :) our guests had a lot of fun too, Diane even gets on the dance floor and leads the line dances for us! You can tell she really cares about her clients and that she really wants your event to be perfect and the way you want it to be. Overall we had a good experience with Primo DJ's. Primo and Diane were both easy to work with and have done so many weddings/events that they know just what they're doing. We had some very specific song timings that we needed for special little things we had planned for our night. Primo nailed them all. He also did a great job working with our videographer, another producer, and our live singer to make sure everything sounded great. We used uplighting and Primo DJ's did a good job of placing all the up lights to make sure it looked perfect. The lights really added a dramatic and classy effect. Additionally, Primo takes pictures during the night and they send them to you giving you a whole different perspective than that of our photographer or guest photos.The only reason I wouldn't give Primo DJ's 5 stars is there was one point in the evening where the music completely stopped, people were on the dance floor and no one was sure where Primo was. A guest actually went and pushed play to get the music going again. Also, there were a couple of songs such as Sir Mix A Lot "Big Butts" and LMFAO "Shots" that I felt were a bit inappropriate for a wedding-even if it was towards the end of the night. That's just my personal preference, I would have preferred he played more of the songs we had previously requested rather than songs like that. More...

Diane at Primo DJ gave us the best wedding reception! Diane was fabulous. She played fun music that got literally every guest up on the dance floor. Between the Conga line and The Cupid Shuffle, we got our groove on ( even the grandparents)! All of our guests keep raving about how Diane got the party going. The party lasted until the event was over, and none of the guests wanted to leave early. We attribute our wonderful reception to Diane and we know it would not have been as fun without her. Our experience started long before the event. Diane met with us to go over ideas for our special day and throughout the planning process she checked in with us so we could collaborate along the way. Diane was the DJ for our wedding last Saturday 9/28 and she was a huge hit with our guests! She was very interactive, entertaining, and got everyone up and dancing! She was very flexible with our timeline and was able to change things for us last minute when our bridal party wanted to surprise us with a dance. Diane kept our reception lively! She even led dances and got people who usually don't dance up moving! Diane was the DJ for our wedding and I must say she did such an awesome job! From the moment we interviewed with her up until the big day, she was very informative. She will answer questions and give you many options for what you need/want (music, lighting, etc).We chose certain genres of music to be played at our wedding, and the music was perfect!
