It's been great getting back to Primal post lockdown. I didn't realise how much I'd missed it! Whilst I enjoyed the online classes throughout lockdown, it feels great to be working out with others and using weights again. Just getting out of the house in the mornings and exercising has been fantastic for my wellbeing. The coaches have been really supportive as well by ensuring we ease ourselves back into in-person training and the team seems to be very diligent with the COVID health and safety measures. Between reduced class sizes, sanitisation of equipment and checking temperatures at the door, I feel very safe while exercising at the gym. Both the coaches and other members are giving each other space - it's very respectful and so nice to know we're all in this together. To anyone who's feeling a bit anxious about returning I'd say give it a try and head in! You don't realise how much you've miss working out until you get back to it. More...

I can highly recommend Primal Gym. Going from someone who didn't have the 'get up and go' for going to the gym to someone who has a consistent training schedule and actually enjoys going to the gym, is something that Primal Gym has helped me with. Thanks to the enthusiasm from the trainers and the exciting classes, I've never been fitter! There is a real community atmosphere at the gym, making everyone feel welcome and the trainers are very attentive with injuries and changing exercises to suit your body - which I can speak from first hand as the trainers have assisted with improvement post-surgery and with recovery from muscle injury. Since having Primal recommended to me by a friend last year, I’ve never looked back. The trainers are great- welcoming, friendly, know their stuff and most of all funny! The gym is in a great location and is a great place to workout. No class or trainer is the same and the classes never get easier (in a good way). Switching to online classes more recently has been trying but Primal have made it simple. I’m looking forward to getting back as soon as possible. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Primal Gym and all the coaches, all of who are a cracking bunch! Each and every one of them live the core values of the gym. They are approachable, knowledgeable, bring variety to every class and most of all, make each session fun. They are always happy to talk about setting your own personal goals. They are clearly dedicated and have some great ideas. Whilst I began initially focusing on classes that were conditioning and core related, I’ve really enjoyed trying other classes such as strength & conditioning and calisthenics. Its been nice to learn something new. Also nice in summer to take the class outside. I’m amazed that everyone knows you by name. It's a small touch that makes a big difference. I cannot recommend Primal highly enough! The whole team are incredibly knowledgeable, supportive, kind and fun! The atmosphere at this gym really puts you at ease and you are made to feel like part of their community from day one, everyone knows you by name and always greats you with a smile! I joined Primal’s SGPT programme as I needed to get some support getting back into fitness following some time out due to an inflammatory condition. The levels of professional support and guidance I received really was above and beyond what I’d hoped for. The classes are so much fun and for the first time in my life I found myself really excited about going to the gym! I never thought I would be someone who enjoyed weights training or could ever be successful with it but the strength I have gained back in just 5 months has been amazing and so rewarding. The group classes have an amazing atmosphere and they’re led by trainers. I’ve had a programme designed especially for me and get regular assessments to refocus and step up and I can definitely feel the difference. The atmosphere at Primal has been incredibly welcoming from the start. The classes are always engaging with a great mix of hard work/fun. All of the coaches have been amazing - they consistently check in with you and give you practical feedback during classes. Additionally with programs they try to understand your lifestyle so they don’t make unrealistic targets for you so it fits in well with your lifestyle. The diversity of the classes is also fantastic, never is one class exactly the same as another which makes them that more engaging. Having never really engaged with the gym, I was hesitant at first at joining the small group PT sessions at Primal. After 4 weeks, 12 PT sessions and achieving the goals I'd set out to hit, I can now say that I actually enjoy going to the gym and is a part of my day that I look forward to. What makes Primal different is the human connection the staff have with every person who walks through the door. They listen, are understanding and push you in the ways that work for you personally. The coaches on SGPT are incredibly passionate about what they do - I've had the pleasure of mostly working with Ollie who has a brilliant way of explaining what to do in a way I understand, adapts based on my ability and, nearly more importantly than anything, has the loveliest and best dog. I joined Primal in my late thirties, feeling like I was getting a bit out of shape (the dad-bod was developing nicely!) and I was getting fed up with the persistent lower back pain I’d lived with since my late twenties. I loved the vibe of Primal as soon as I walked through the door. It looks nothing like a regular gym. No wall of mirrors, no rows of treadmills and other pointless machines. The trainers and staff are really welcoming and helpful... the classes are varied, challenging and fun. The game-changer, for me though, was enrolling onto the Total Transformation Project. Three months of hard work, fun and forming new dietary habits and I’ve never felt better. I managed to shed a good amount of the stubborn fat I’d been carrying around for years, I gained strength and most importantly (now 40 years old) I no longer suffer from the back pain I feared was going to be with me for life... As a serial January Joiner, with all the best intentions and none of the willpower to see it through, I wasn't 100% sure that signing up for Primal was a good idea. It seemed expensive and scary but actually 8 months on, I couldn't have been more wrong. I joined when I was struggling with my mental health and didn't really know what to do. My first meeting with Ollie, where he told me this would be the best money I ever spend on myself, was scarily accurate and I haven't looked back since. I have new goals and ambition that I'd not seen in myself for a while. The sessions and structure are great, really consistent but also varied and good fun. The coaches pay attention and listen to what's working and not working for you - no feedback is bad feedback. The team members are all really supportive too, there's no selfie taking or posing - everyone is there to train. Not a mirror in sight! Highly recommend Small Group Personal Training if you're wanting to feel part of something and achieve your personal goals at the same time. If you're thinking about joining, don't put it off until 1st Jan - go for it! More...

I've deeply enjoyed my every visit at Primal since February. Wish they had another place where I'm moving now, because it's unlike any other gym! A great attention to detail and technical knowledge on the part of the trainers, coupled with a brilliant atmosphere guaranteed by fun people to work out with, make this one of my favourite spots in Leeds. They've got something for everyone - you can join classes or work out on your own, whatever your fancy. In fact, I used to HATE classes, and ended up going to my club twice a week because it was so much fun! The space is also great, with lots of good equipment and natural light. Highly recommended! Amazing gym. Really fun, interesting classes that are so much better than those 'traditional' gyms offer. Very much a community feel with none of the ego's you might associate with other places. No floor to ceiling mirrors with people taking selfies! Superb coaches who take the time to get to know you and can tailor sessions to suit (or make them harder!). Primal in three words - THE PERFECT GYM . And what makes it so perfect isn't the great selection of equipment, space and quality of facilities - but the people. Starting with the Primal team - owners, coaches, physio and Peppa. All together, they are creating a relaxed, result focused and enjoyable place to be (no matter the fitness level). Then comes the people who actually go to the gym - I have made friends there, laughed a lot all the while training and getting fitter. Neat . In terms of fitness results, I joined Primal 18 months ago and while I wasn't in a bad shape before joining, I have rediscovered what working out means, learnt a lot of useful fitness related tips, tried a lot of new things and never felt as fit / strong ever before. I have lost 5kg of fat, built 4kg of muscle, discovered what powerlifting is thanks to witty coach Steven and found a new passion in Calisthenics thanks to awesome coach Jim. I am now in New Zealand and can't enjoy Primal anymore, but I already can't wait for going back . Thank you Primal Team !!! More...

Primal is amazing! I feel like I’ve wasted so much time in other gyms feeling too intimidated to go near the weights or just trying to figure out the best way of training on my own for my goals. I never really saw the progress I wanted to see and I always felt a little bit like I was just floating around trying a bit of everything and not really getting it. A couple of months ago I bit the bullet and signed up for calisthenics based PT sessions with Jim, and I can’t begin to describe how transformative it’s been in such a short space of time. My workout programmes are awesome because I basically just get to act like a kid and learn cool tricks like handstands and cartwheels and hanging upside down from stuff. Jim’s also gradually introducing new habits to my diet & nutrition, so I’m not changing anything too quickly (which I would probably find unsustainable). For the first time ever I genuinely find working out fun; I look forward to being in the gym, I feel confident in what I’m doing, and every month I’m doing something new so I don’t ever get bored or complacent. I don’t just feel like I’ve made progress - I can see it and it’s measured. And not just in my body; it’s also had a super positive impact on my mental health, my diet is far better than it’s ever been, I’ve made new friends, and I feel comfortable being in an environment that has previously felt pretty daunting. During my 27 years I’ve made my way around a few gyms, both in Leeds and in my hometown of sunny Warrington (yes all about bread rolls rather than bread cakes ) doing just classes and then having the occasional PT. Primal has to be by far the BEST I’ve been to! Personally I’ve always played sport, particularly netball, so I’ve always had a fitness background but primal is something different. It’s a community that you become sucked into as soon as you walk through that door. Cheesy? I thought so to when people used to tell me but it’s honestly true. Not once have I felt uncomfortable or out of place. Everyone is so supportive and friendly. Primal has also helped me get my act together and helped me achieve so fantastic weight loss this year. Living my best office life last year saw me gain a lot of weight, which was both unhealthy and was having an effect on my ability to play the sport I love (yes the girl with the belly out on some of the Primal photos ). Earlier this year I ruptured my ACL during a netball game and I’m currently waiting for surgery in a few months, however I was told I needed to strengthen my legs in the meantime in prep for this. I wasn’t sure that I would be able to weight train or do a lot if I’m totally honest however with the help/support/coaching of all the coaches (particularly coach Steve) I’ve made real progress in my overall strength, particularly in my legs which is what I need ahead of surgery (yes 100KG trap bar deadlift last week - had to get that in there!). Also a special mention to mr Oliver Worrel who without him I probably would never have signed up in the first place. If you are apprehensive about joining go in and have a chat with one of the trainers 1-2-1...you will come out inspired and motivated. Primal has helped me achieve things this year I didn’t think possible and I’m probably the fittest I’ve ever been...we aren’t done yet though! If you’re looking for a gym that has a community spirit and wanting to achieve some fantastic results and start building a healthy life then primal is where you need to be! Come join the mad house! I signed up for the small group PT two months ago and genuinely regret not joining sooner. Having never been a naturally sporty or gym person I found myself paying for memberships that I wasn’t using! Since joining primal I have found myself actually looking forward to my sessions! With the SGPT you get an individual assessment including postural and functional ability with body metrics. From this a personalised programme is made with stretches and exercises, every 4 weeks this is revised to keep things interesting and challenging! All of the trainers are lovely and seem genuinely invested in their members, amazingly they seem to remember everyone’s name and keep motivation up without being critical. The atmosphere is supportive with people of all abilities and ages! In summary if you are needing a boost in diet and fitness I cannot recommend this place more! More...

A completely different gym experience based on an inclusive and welcoming culture - friendly staff that create an environment where everyone can push themselves within their own limits. Considering joining Primal? DO IT! It’s the best decision I made last year. In 5 months Primal SGPT has… - helped me lose 12kg of body fat and drop two dress sizes - revolutionised my nutrition - made me stronger - built my confidence. I signed up last August for PT sessions and from the start it has been great. The initial assessments felt really thorough and they listened to everything I was looking to get out of training. I was initially a bit nervous as I hadn’t done any strength training before. All the staff are super friendly though and always make time to say hi and have a quick chat! Signed up for Primals SGPT after getting engaged last summer, I wanted to force myself out of my comfort zone to try something new and become healthier. It's definitely been worth it; I've lost a load of fat, gained a load of muscle, but more importantly I've found myself adopting good habits that I can see myself keeping the rest of my life. Having a dedicated programme covering exercise, diet, and sleep tracking was incredibly beneficial, looking back 6 months ago it seems almost surreal how much I've improved. To say Primal has changed my life would be a complete understatement! I signed up for SGPT to get in shape to go travelling, however my approach to fitness and health has been totally transformed. I have been re-educated on nutrition and taken away lifelong habits, while gaining confidence exercising with the guidance of the coaches. Alongside this, I have seen amazing results losing 2 stone and 13% body fat in 6 months – what a bonus! The coaches are super supportive across every aspect of your life and wellbeing – particularly Ollie who has provided countless suggestions to improve my skin before we finally cracked it. They never make you feel bad for blips in the road, truly only wanting to help you be the best version of yourself.
