It had been a long day on the road so it was lovely to find a warm, snug location on a cold winter's night.||||The welcome was warm and friendly and the room was spotless and well appointed with a lovely, large, comfortable bed. ||||I asked for room service - the food was beautiful and served in good time.||||The following morning I visited the swimming pool - let's just say that this aspect is a little tired and unloved and the gym staff appear to want to be somewhere else. Start with my most negative points as they did annoy me, but I ve got some good things to say as well.||||First impressions of the hotel were not very good. Hotel looked great when pulling in to the car park but came in early on the first day (around 1100) to hopefully check in because of a long stay at the hotel and having a couple of laptops in the car (which I didn't want to leave in the parking area at my workplace). Got a medioca good morning from the receptionist as I had disturbed from whatever she was doing, she then told without even looking at her computer or asking my name that any early check in's where impossible (even after explaining to her of my situation and I that was heading straight out to work once dumping my bags off). I feel this really could have been handled better even if the room was not ready. It was a real computer says no moment.||||Only other thing which wasn't great was some poached eggs on toast I had for breakfast one morning. Eggs hadn't been drained properly which made the toast soggy and the chef hadn't even bothered to butter the toast before putting them on.||||Apart from these things which really came down to one or two of the team letting the side down on the customer service front, I did enjoy my stay.||||Room were comfortable and clean. Rest of the team were pleasant and polite. Really friendly male housekeeper, couldn't be more pleasant or accommodating, he needs a special mention I think.||||Pool was clean and sauna / steam were in good working order. Nice touches with the room consumables made the right feel in the rooms for the leisure market the hotel is going for.||||Just need to sort out some service elements but overall good! Loved staying here for a romantic weekend. Really quirky with lots of little corridors, leading up to our attic room. Clean and comfy room, with a massive bathroom. I think the library was my favourite area to sit with a drink and chill. The food was to a high standard as was the service everywhere, especially the young man on the bar Saturday evening. There is a reason why everyone is raving about Prested Hall - because it is THE venue for weddings!||||We held our wedding reception at the Hall and it was amazing. Gemma Jouques (events manager), Karen Hull (hall manager) and their team were brilliant to work with - from the first time we met them, through planning stages, the wedding day itself, the following day at breakfast. We especially loved how responsive they were (which was a god sent especially when you are trying to juggle work and wedmin) and nothing was too much of a trouble for them. ||||The Hall was beautifully made up on the day. Gemma helped with decorating our cake and treats table (and I’m sure she did much much more without us noticing or asking!). The food was great and everything ran on time. The fireplace was lit especially for us, which made the whole place look extremely cosy!||||What made it extra special was to find our bridal room decorated, flowers and a personal note from Gemma and her team congratulating us on our day. ||||From the bottom of our hearts, thank you Prested Hall, especially to Gemma and Karen, for a very memorable day. A very brief overnight stay with my daughter.||Lovely warm room with a large spacious bathroom. Clean and well equipped with complimentary toiletries and tea and coffee. ||Slept like a log!||Lovely breakfast! ||Staff all lovely and could not have been any more helpful. ||Pool and spa area were very nice but sadly not enough time to use the facilities.||Would love to visit again in the spring!||Great place to relax and unwind! Part of me does not really want to publicise this place so I can be assured of having a room available next time I am down in the south east! ||This is one of those places where service comes above everything.||The building is old and has an abundance of character so those seeking the ultra modern hotel experience may wish to seek somewhere different.||||This is not to say things are not of the highest order. ||Everything in my room (well more like a suite) worked, and was very well appointed.||||The service, from reception, through to the health club (attached to the hotel and available to guests - highly recommended by the way) and the bar/waiting staff was absolutely superb. ||||Finally, the food - oh the food....||To be honest, even if the rest of the experience was rubbish (which it really was not!) I would stay again simply for the food. Needed a break and Prested Hall provided an ideal solution for a solo visit. Beautiful location and grounds yet easy access to the road networks. ||I think it's important to support indie businesses. I've stayed in chain hotels in London and honestly breakfast at some of them felt like a prison.. having to share tables. ||Lovely evening meal (you can look at their menus from their website). I had a prawn Thai curry followed by a Baileys cheesecake. They kindly served the cheesecake after I had a lovely Elemis facial. Breakfast is a selection of fruit, cereals and juice followed by your choice of hot breakfast. ||All the staff are friendly, polite, helpful - something I'm not used to having experienced chain hotels!||Great pool and spa facilities in an adjoining building. Small friendly hotel, adjacent to countryside. Lovely sweeping drive to its entrance with a small lake and extensive grounds to the rear. The hotel is centuries old with several features retained such as the detailed wooden stair case and fire places on the ground floor. The bedroom was comfortable but a tad cool at times due to the single glazed leaded windows. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfasts are there to be enjoyed and the overall ambiance of the place is peaceful with a library and snug to relax in after eating. Guests have full use of the leisure facilities that are open to the public which includes a rather useful swimming pool, stream room and sauna. There are indoor padel (tennis) courts as well as a real tennis court (both of which are rare to find). Lovely grounds to amble around which are full of pheasants and there is a lovely walk across fields to the village of Messing (about 1.5 miles). Sure there are some shortcomings, such as the lack of a full length mirror and a safe in the room which is odd given that non key safes are in abundance and easy to use in the changing rooms at the leisure centre. We went for a "Fawlty Towers" Evening with dinner and entertainment. It was great fun and fantastic food (even considering it was mass catering the standard was exceptional). The actors were great fun and the "real" waiting staff were cheerful and helpful.The tables were beautifully layed, there was a pre-ordered choise of each course all of which were excellent, finishing with coffee and mints. My friend and I have just spent a Mid Week Spa stay at Prested Hall. The customer service right from the time of booking to when we left the premises was excellent. ||I was most impressed with the way my booking was handled by Jamie ,one of the Duty Managers at the hotel, when at one point it looked, due to circumstances, that we would not be able to fulfill the booking on the planned date.Although this happened at the very last minute I was told that I could move the booking to another time if necessary at no extra cost. Fortunately we did not have to do this and our stay went ahead as planned.||The hotel staff were very helpful as were those at the Leisure Club and Spa. The leisure facilities are very good . We used the pool, sauna ,steam room and gym during our stay.||The Spa treatments were excellent and we left the premises feeling very chilled! My only comment was that perhaps the receptionist at the Spa could have been a little more helpful when I went back to retrieve my prescription . I left without it.||I would highly recommend Prested Hall for and overnight stay or even just a a day visit. More...

We looked at various venues to have our wedding but from the moment we stepped into Prested Hall we knew we had found exactly what we were looking for. In the months running up to the wedding we were invited to various events all of which were excellent and helped us to feel totally comfortable in our surroundings. Our wedding there on the 13th October could not have gone better. Gemma (the wedding co-ordinator) made sure everything ran smoothly and we simply had the perfect day. The food was amazing, the staff all went out of their way to cater for our guests . A little gen in Essex. We needed a short break and found Prested Hall. A lovely room with very comfortable bed, TV, chairs, desk, well stocked hospitality tray and an enormous bathroom with separate bath and shower. When you walk in you are firstly met by the smell of fresh flowers. All the staff are very helpful and nothing is too much trouble.We used the pool, sauna and steam room that were included and again of a high quality.Breakfast was cooked to order as well as cereals and yoghurt etc. A good choice from full English, Veggie alternative or lighter bites!Well done! What can we say? We held our wedding at Prested Hall early October and couldn’t recommend it enough. It really was the perfect day. Right from the start, we knew this was the venue for us as it had such a relaxed atmosphere and warm/cosy vibe. We were allocated our wedding coordinator, Gemma, who was brilliant. Nothing was too much trouble in the run up to the day and on the day Gemma and the team exceeded all expectations.||The food was beautifully presented with very generous portions. Everyone commented at how tasty it was. The tasting evenings in the run up to the day were really helpful in deciding our menu and we were overwhelmed with the amount of choice we were given to select the perfect menu. From the canapés, to the main sit down meal and the evening buffet were of such a high standard despite the quantities they were catering for.||The venue is great as you have exclusive use of the house. Lots of our guests commented on how nice it was to have different rooms they could explore and use and we made great use of these throughout the day.||Nothing was too much hassle and we can’t thank Gemma and the team enough for the perfect day. Where do I begin! An amazing day, Gamma the wedding planner was outstanding, she went above and beyond to make my daughter's wedding perfect. The staff were wonderful, the food was excellent and we had several guest with specific dietary requirements. The venue was perfect so many wedding guests made lovely comments. I stayed here for some ‘’me’ time for 5 nights. It was amazing. It’s beautiful and clean. The food is lovely and the staff can not do enough for you. The rooms are lovely - I stayed in The Dingle and it was so peaceful and quiet with fantastic decor. You’ll see lots of wildlife, including birds, squirrels and rabbits roaming around. The spa is very calm and relaxing and again, the therapists are brilliant. I had lots of treatments and felt good and refreshed. My husband and I celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary at Prested Hall. The staff in the spa and restaurant were very friendly and helpful. However, some staff were less so. We did feel that it often took staff sometime to acknowledge us and then weren't very forthcoming with information. The room was great and the bathroom an excellent size. We had read that the food was lovely but we found it to be a little disappointing, however the staff were very accommodating of my celiac disease. We initially chose Prested for our wedding venue as we were attracted by the intimate package they offer and liked that we could make full use of the building itself rather than having to use the marquee. We were really happy with the support the staff gave us during the wedding preparations, helping us every step of the way, always patient and helpful even when we kept changing and adding details! We had a single dedicated person to assist us, but when they were unavailable then everyone else we spoke to was always happy and able to help. The wedding day itself ran seamlessly thanks to the professional and efficient way our assistant and the rest of the staff ran the event. The food was amazing - both the 3 course wedding breakfast, the evening buffet and breakfast the following morning. The accommodation was faultless too, the rooms were clean and tidy, beds very comfortable and everyone had a good nights sleep.
