The 3 week screenprinting course I recently attended at the EN Printshop was not only great fun, but highly informative and well delivered in a friendly way by Rob and Tom, who are very helpful and really know their craft inside out. I highly recommend this course to anyone wanting to give screenprinting a try, and also to anybody wanting to get their hands dirty learning a new skill. I hope to visit the guys again and get some more prints done in the future- it's a great contrast and a refreshing change to my normal digital work! More...

I recently took part in the screen printing course provided by Tom and Rob. From start to finish the process really opened my eyes and was a complete learning curve! The guys are so welcoming and are really thorough with their explanations, so you really do learn everything you need to know. I was part of a 3 week screen print course at the 51-53 shop in Hanley. A great experience in the workshop learning all stages of the process. From artwork set up to the screen exposure to getting hands on printing. This is not a typical DIY course, the lads go through the proper ways to print and as a result you get a real life high quality learning experience. I've been training and printing at Present Workshops for a few weeks now, it's been fantastic. The guys are incredibly welcoming, friendly and patient, they understand that beginners make mistakes and are always around to offer advice. The membership prices are more than reasonable and the atmosphere is perfect: relaxed and productive. Having seen Tom and Rob printing for commercial clients I'm blown away by their high standards. I really enjoyed taking part in the screen printing workshop put on by Rob and Tom. They really know their stuff, it was SO much better than getting a DIY home screen printing kit and not having a clue what to do. .. so many variables ;) You learn a lot in the three evening sessions, from the theory to taking home your finished prints. Recently took part in the 3 week advanced screen printing course. The course takes place in their workshop, downstairs at the 51-53 store in Hanley and the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed yet retains a classroom feel which I liked. Rob and Tom who run the course work really well together and their enthusiasm for the project is clear to see. They offer good advice and have a “nothing is impossible” attitude.(They also make a cracking brew!)The course covers everything from the first instance of setting up artwork for print using photoshop, exposing screens, screen registration and set up right through to the final print and drying process. Overall, good experience and knowledge was gained from the course and I feel confident enough to sign up to the membership scheme allowing me use of the print workshop knowing that the guys are always on hand to offer any help and advice. I attended an introduction to screen printing class out of curiosity and was astounded by the breadth of knowledge that Tom and Rob have. The workshop was great, Tom providing lots of help and detail about the process. A few months later i decided to make my own screen prints and came to the guys for help. They advised on how to prepare the image and then gave loads of hands-on support on printing day. They offer a great service and I'll certainly use them again. More...
