Greg is a competent and reliable plumber, and overall, a nice guy. Our boiler failed. I searched for local gas boiler installers online and his name came up with sterling reviews. I texted him and he replied promptly that he would come take a look later in the day and give a quote. I called PPS as I was concerned about the safety of my boiler. Greg responded immediately and made time to visit late in the afternoon to check its operation. He explained what needed to be done without any jargon, really put me at my ease and discussed the different options available to resolve the problem with no pressure to choose one over the other. He worked quickly, efficiently and tidily and my boiler is now working better than it has in years. His rate was very reasonable and the service he offered from start to finish was first class. Our central heating and hot water went this weekend. What I feared was a leak in the pipework somewhere so when Greg came over, best I was hoping for was confirmation the boiler was ok and the leak was identified under the floorboards. What we got was good humoured persistence, as at every blind alley meant Greg simply looked elsewhere until he found the problem: an unused drain point hidden behind some stud partition that had somehow loosened and was flowing pretty freely.It would have been so easy for Greg to have said it was impossible to find without tearing up boards and engineered wood floor. After being serviced by incompetent gas engineers for years who gave us the worse made of all gases, we are so happy to have found Practical Plumbing! Greg came in first with response out of 5 other gas engineers that I contacted and even came by on a Sunday. He was quick to reply and answer honestly any questions I was unsure of. He recommended the best made and size for our requirements and quickly attended to our hot water needs by fixing a new one as soon as he can while I was at work.My usually grumpy teenager gave no complains when he did his job while I was at work.He did'nt make a mess too and the new boiler is fantastic with all its hi tech equiptment. Gregs a great plumber friendly quick and very reasonable he has fitted 2 new toilets for us and we are very happy. He's also helped a lot of people on the Hanover Notice board after recommending him. Responded within minutes of me texting and offered to visit in half an hour. Took a look at my non-flushing toilet and estimated an hour of work @£60 plus £20 parts but said he might be able to fix the part for nothing because if he had a spare diaphragm. Sure enough he fixed the problem and didn't need to charge the extra for parts. Plus he noticed a problem with the drainage of the bath and had a go at fixing that for nothing too! Brilliant. My toilet wasn't filling correctly. Greg came the same day, bang on time. He was extremely good, diagnosed and fixed the problem within an hour. I know it sounds like a simple job, but trust me nothing in my flat is simple, it was designed and built by muppets. There was a stone in one of the valves amoung other things. He was friendly, engaging and keen to educate me about the ways of my mysterious toilet. He left everything neat and tidy. Plus it was only £50 all in, which seems pretty good to me.
