Once we take a look for you and understand what your looking to convert the Garage into we can advise.
Most garage conversions will not need planning permission just Building regulations but this depends on many things. If you have a New build property quite often there is a covenant on the Deeds stating you are not allowed to convert the garage or change the appearance of the house for 10 years! always check this first on your Deeds & with the developer. Sometimes they will allow it as long as you keep the main garage door in place & block up from behind. If Planning is required it can take upto 2 months. If you wish to convert it to a bedroom with a bathroom then you may need planning and also if in a conservation area by changing the look of the front of house. If no planning is required then Only Building regulations we deal with the complete process in-house as we have an independent accredited Building Inspector we use on a regular basis and we have set construction procedures and details pre-agreed with how we carry out all types of garage conversions to it will comply to the latest regulations. We arrange this with them on your behalf and they will visit in the early days of commencement and then on final completion, we will also take photographic evidence of the the construction methods used to send to them & keep on file. All the electrical works will be certified by our highly experienced contractor and a copy of the certificate will be sent to the building inspector before they will release a completion certificate.
If full planning is required then we can arrange that for you too.

We use the best quality products on the market to achieve in particular the best insulation values especially where garages are concerned, Unfortunately some companies use cheaper methods to just achieve the minimum standard but we are always above minimum requirements.

I have been in business now for 30 years after initially being trained as a Carpenter & joiner for a prestigious building Contractor in London and working my way up to Foreman Carpenter & also gaining a HND in building technology plus Associate level In carpentry & Joiner plus advanced City & Guilds in Carpentry & Joinery, I then decided to go out on my own initially mainly as a Building company carry out extensions, alterations & refurbishments in domestic & commercial properties. I then diversified slightly more into Kitchen & Bathrooms with setting up a showroom for them but still carried on doing only select building work for clients who may be having a new kitchen or bathroom & require building alterations or extensions at the same time. I then found myself taking on Garage conversions in a big way especially since the initial Covid Lock down in 2020 with many looking to work from home to use as either a home office, extra bedroom etc and my Skills fit in just right for this. I have a great team of highly skilled trades working for me & many have been with me over 20 years now. I myself project manage all jobs on a daily basis with regular site visits and update meetings with the client.

All products installed come with their own guarantee such as doors & windows, Flooring products, Kitchens & Bathrooms etc but we also offer a 2 year guarantee on all our workmanship than if something should become faulty within 2 years we will fix it as long as we find its not down to mis-use.

Both my late Father & my older Brothers were Carpenters & Joiners that went out to start their own business so I was brought up working with them at weekends when I was young and was brought up with the attitude if you want something you need to work for it! Hence why after finishing my full apprenticeship I felt being held back & wanted to go out & achieve more in life.

At Potters we have a real passion of creating an end product that our clients Dreamed for or is above their expectations. 2nd best is not good enough for us so attention to detail is all our teams priority as well as being polite to our clients & keeping the site tidy & safe as much as possible at all times!

We can discuss projects over the phone or online & sometimes estimate costs but obliviously cannot carry out the work.

We are extra careful now on projects, All our trades have face masks to wear if they may be in close contacts with others on site or clients. They all have anti-bacterial Gel on board plus anti-bac wipes.
We will also supply our clients with a Gel pump plus wipes if they wish to use during or after we leave the job to wipe door handles down etc or touch points.
Ideally we prefer customers not to make us drinks so we are not using anyone's cups on site even though we would like too. All our men will eat their Lunch in their own vans & travel alone to the jobs.
