After coming here a year later, I do not have much toward to my review, but there are a few notable things. During this trip we found our food to come out very quickly. The potatoes salad is good, but I prefer the potatoes to be a little more cooked. The brisket this time around was extremely tender. Oh my goodness! What a great BBQ place. It was a small restaurant with limited seating (booths & tables) but the food was AMAZING. Drove up from Palmdale and met a friend who drove down from Fresno as it was approx. halfway for each of us. We ate absolutely everything we ordered; it was so good!!!  Staff was welcoming, helpful, and downright friendly. Different employees came over to our booth to check on us, chat with us, and definitely not to rush us out. They were happy to have us there. We even, after eating that delicious lunch, got an extra take out order to bring home to my 86-year-old mother because the food was so yummy. this place is amazing! you can cut the ribs with a plastic fork!! me and my bestie shared a 3 meat platter (tri tip, sausage links, and ribs) with sides of mac an cheese and fried okra. The thing I really liked about this place was the atmosphere. Don't get me wrong the bbq is good too! I enjoyed everything I ordered. But the setting took me to another place. The music, the smells, the decor and especially the workers (not sure if it was owner) just caught me up and took me to another place outside of Bakersfield. I enjoyed the food. There were 5 in the party and we all had something different. We were so happy with all of our food. I had the 2 meat plate with fried beans, sweet potatoes, fried beans, and fried okra. We've been here one other time, it was phenomenal. This time was no different. The brisket is delicious. The fried green beans are amazing. And I hate green beans. Definitely go give them a try. My love affair with tacos has taken a hiatus and my obsession with BBQ has ignited. Tough to get a parking spot, but a little easier now that the construction is done. Seating is pretty limited too, especially during a lunch rush. Best part? DIET PEPSI!!!I've only had the brisket and I pretty much don't want to try anything else. It's so juicy and tasty and they always give you one yummy, fatty end piece As far as sides, if I'm looking for a keto option, they let you do a side salad for an additional charge (it's massive). This bbq place is legit! Although small, the food has tons of flavor and the service is friendly as well! Whatever you order, you'll get some very tender and delicious meat. The sides are all delicious and even the salads are all full of fun and yummy ingredients. The portion sizes are pretty generous too. You're always greeted upon entering and the food is brought right to your table after you order at the counter. They have a soda machine towards the back for you to fill your drinks, which is nice. I kinda love their pulled pork and have gotten it most times I come bc it's so juicy and tender. I also really like their spring salad that comes with apples and craisins. So yummy! This 5-star rating is based on several factors. I came to this place while on the road with about 40 of my fellow Marines last month. We were looking for a place in town that could take us all on a Sunday night.  When I called PorkChop&Bubba's they initially told me they were closed that night, then the owner got on the line and let me know that for a fellow Marine, he would open the place just for us. Really impressive! We all piled into the seating area and their wait staff began taking our orders while the owner hung out with us along with his adorable baby daughter. The food was stellar. I had some great tasting brisket flat and pulled pork along with some crispy fried okra and tasty Cole slaw. I just wish I could have stayed and tasted more of their menu. Amazing BBQ seriously cooked to perfection. Just get here as early as you can cause they only make enough food for the day and they almost always sell out by early evening. Got the pulled pork, ribs and Brisket. All three were so moist and flavorful. Amazingly tender with the rib meet falling off the bone. Really is good stuff!Update- I have now been here over 10x since my original post and love it as much as the first time. That's pretty good since I live in Santa Barbara. My sister and I had their tri-tip and brisket sammiches with mac and cheese and hush puppies as our sides. The tri-tip came in a hot dog bun while the brisket came in a burger bun. The tri-tip was easy to eat and their spicy bbq sauce (house made) went well with it. The bun was fresh and seemed organic but I couldn't tell if it was made in house or not. Regardless, the meat was the highlight of the meal. The brisket came in square shapes which fell out of the bun a bit but no BBQ can be expected to be so neat. The bun on it seemed definitely house mad, and it was cooked perfectly. The meat was soft and broke apart well. The mac and cheese was the best I ever had, and it's something to come back for alone. The hush puppies were dry on the outside but that is probably how they were meant to be. Personally not my style, but the quality was there and other people could appreciate it more than I did. The BBQ is freaking amazing! I had the make it stank tater tots and the tri tip sandwich...the tater tots were mouth watering and the sandwich was melt in my mouth good. By far the best brisket I've had outside ofTexas! Soooooo flavorful and tender. I got the 2 meat combo with brisket & ribs. The other meat, I completely didn't eat. It was tough, and I don't think it was ribs. (I'd probably rank this place lower but I just loved the brisket so much) The sides were solid, mac and cheese and tomato pie. Hands-down best BBQ joint in Bako! My first trip there was this past Friday. The place has an atmosphere fitting for the Bakersfield community, good people and great food. I had the special for that day, a minced meat philly w/ Alabama white BBQ sauce, fried okra on the side. It was AMAZING! Every bite packed with flavor and perfectly seasoned, moist beef. My friend had the pulled-pork sammich which was equally fantastic! The waitresses are quick and friendly. This establishment is locally owned by a Veteran of the great USMC . Definitely the type of business we are privileged to have here in Bakersfield and one I will be proud to frequent, as well as refer.
