Last weekend Andy prepared a middle eastern dinner for a group of six friends. We all thought the dishes were tasty, plentiful and beautifully presented - with a variety of hot dishes, salads, pastries and dips. We booked Andy for our wedding food in the day and the evening, and he excelled on all levels: The food was out of this world and the service was outstanding, especially considering the small kitchen he had to work with at the Holme Lacy Village hall venue. We cannot recommend him enough. The mezze style of food sharing we went for meant that our guests were sharing and passing around food to each other, this made for a friendlier vibe. And there was plenty of food to go around. The evening pizza's and sandwiches were also amazing. He is a professional 5 star chef in our opinion and a very nice guy to boot. My friends and I had a wonderful 7 course dinner last week and it was absolutely delicious. You would think that with 7 courses that not everything would be to your taste but we enjoyed every single bit of it. The food was full of new spices, combinations and ingredients which made it all very exciting. We hired Poco Culina to cater for the 100 people wedding, which was styled as a mini-festival in our back garden. It was incredible. Everything was 100% vegan and delicious, covering a whole palette of different flavours and textures – our guests were raving about the food all night. At one point, Andy came up to our table and put some (gorgeous) baklava in front of us, having seen that we were too busy to visit the catering tent ourselves. That sort of service and sensitivity is precisely what makes Poco Culina so great. The dishes are an explosion of flavour and colour! I loved the lunch at Poco Culina's Pop-Up Shop and enjoyed that there was such a wide range of cuisine available. I am not vegan and so at first, I worried that the lunch would not be filling. How wrong was I! Andy has such a wealth of nutritious knowledge, making each dish a health-focused and filling treat. What’s your signature dish?
There isn't really a single signature dish, our skill is in meze style food incorporating several smaller, balanced dishes to create the whole meal.
How do you go about creating the perfect menu for your clients?
Discussion. We have many ideas on how to get about creating perfect food for our clients, but discussion and supplying menus for consideration is the key to success for us. The more we talk, the better the end results are.
What do you love most about your job?
Spice blends and the adaption of traditional Eastern techniques into food that is creative and contemporary. That is the Poco passion.
What inspired you to start your own business?
The lack of imagination in other businesses in creating exciting food for vegetarian, vegan and health conscious clients without any compromise on taste, flavour and range of menus.
Why should our clients choose you?
We are honest, ethical and completely approachable. Yes of course we wow clients with our food, but we also ensure working with us is a pleasure.
