Came here to see Vampires Rock. A nice modern theatre with good views of the stage from the stalls. The bar sells beer from the local (Dhillons) brewery, so that's nice. Toilets are a bit small (unusual for a more modern theatre), resulting in long queues at the men's and women's toilets. But apart from that, a very pleasant experience. More...

Where do I begin… Dee & Pete literally took over Plas Maenan the week before our wedding - which coincidentally was scheduled for the same day/time as Queen Elizabeth’s funeral! !! So to say I was a little frayed around the edges as a bride was an understatement… Dee invited us to meet her a few days beforehand to try to put my mind at ease, and she certainly did just that 💜 Professional but so very friendly, accommodated everything we could’ve asked for and even more besides I instantaneously felt so much better on meeting her. Our wedding day came… And EVERYTHING was absolutely perfect The setting/surroundings The atmosphere The service The professionalism The scenery The food (JUST WOW PETE)!!!! We were given free reign of everywhere for photos - which Dee delighted in taking ☺️ (Thank you xx) I honestly cannot recommend Plas Maenan enough for your special day It has everything you could ever possibly wish for - it truly is astounding I can’t wait to see what these guys will do going forward, as it was obviously early days for them and there is yet to be a refurb etc Dee & Pete… You guys made our day so very magical and we simply cannot thank you enough Mr & Mrs Worrall 💜 More...

We stayed for three nights in August as a base for visiting three of Edward I's castles in North Wales. The location is beautiful, overlooking the Conwy valley, just a few miles south of Conwy and a few miles north of Betws-y-Coed, so is ideal for visiting Conwy, Beaumaris and Caernarfan castles as well as the mountains of Snowdonia. The hotel has been beautifully refurbished and decorated, and offers very comfortable and peaceful accommodation. The proprietor and staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Dinner and breakfast were excellent. Other reviewers have mentioned the interesting history of the mansion and the disastrous attempts to develop hydro-electricity in Dolgarrog, just across the valley. We thoroughly recommend it. We had a great rwo nights at this Edwardian guesthouse. After an absolutely exhausting day catching up with old friends, we were running late for our booking and my husband rang Jane, who we later found was the Proprietor and explained we would arrive until after 6pm. On our arrival Jane was waiting. We were shown to our country-chic room. Wow how elegant it was. A small basket of fruit, cheeses dips and nibbles had been placed in the room with tea/coffee facilities to welcome us. Our bed was so comfy we both went out like lights and had a great night's sleep. Breakfast was everything you could wish for. The food was beautifully presented and delicious. The history behind the house is amazing and very interesting. What we noticed was Jane is so proud of it and strives to keep it alive. Unfortunately as we are from Australia and this is the trip of a lifetime and we do not think we will be passing by again , but we promised 100% we will recommend to our family and friends this beautiful Hotel. Fantastic staff,a friendly atmosphere and sensible COVID 19 precautions in place. Thanks Jane your a little gem. More...

This hotel/restaurant is the best I've visited in Wales. I dined there with my parents and we left feeling the experience couldn't be topped. To begin with, the Edwardian building and grounds are as immaculately manicured as they are beautifully decorated. The scenery is fairly spectacular, and the restaurant/suites (one of which the hostess kindly offered to show me) are cleverly designed to maximise the view. THE FOOD!!!... It was like something out of a Michelin restaurant without the humongous price tag and tiny portions; beautifully presented and exceptionally delicious. The greatest triumph of Plas Maenan is its staff though. Jane the owner/hostess couldn't be more polite, accommodating and interesting. She is very knowledgeable about the history of the house, and is very attentive to guests without being overbearing. The chef (who apparently farms many of the ingredients on the grounds) brought the food to the tables personally - again without the ceremony or arrogance you'd expect from such talent in that setting. He was roundly praised by the diners (once we realised who he was!) to guests More...

Myself and my Fiancée had the pleasure of spending the night here last weekend. Jane and her staff go above and beyond and further. Jane is a loverly sweet compassionate person and is clearly proud of what she has to offer and quite rightly so. The accommodation is well above grade and the food 🥘 is amazing. Myself and my partner had a wonderful evening and stress free stay. The history behind the house is amazing and interesting, Jane is very proud of it and strives to keep it alive. We WILL 100% be visiting again at every opportunity even if we’re passing through and stop for a afternoon tea. We both have already recommended here to our family and friends and will continue to do so. Thank you Jane and all your staff for a wonderful and interesting evening, see you soon Dave & Emma More...

Never book this place! They canceled our stay an hour before check-in time. They said different reasons to booking.com and to me. Lady on the phone was rude and didn’t care. I was with two children in the middle of nowhere, at the bank holiday, all properties around were totally booked. They ruined our holiday. More...

I'm not the kind of person that writes reviews but this restaurant deserves it. I had my dinner there today and was delightful. The food was excellent and the service and the atmosphere are amazing. I can say that was one of the most, if not the best, salmon I ever had. All the staff are really friendly and the view is an upgrade. Definitely the best restaurant in the area. It has a lot of history and at the same time shows a modern style with its decoration. The views from there are STUNNING. The service is the most professional I have seen in the Snowdonia area, but the food is my highlight. I recommend the duck parfait as a starter and the pork belly (photo) as the main. The Eton Mess was also a great desert. We saw other tables also ordering it. I hope to come back soon. More...

Lovely view of the sunset from the conservatory but thats where it ends, we had a reservation for 7.30, arrived on time and despite only 2 tables actually dining at the hotel, 1 of which was single dining male enjoying his main course, the other table hosting a married couple enjoying there starters, we were asked by a foreign language speaking women wearing leopard print pajamas to wait in the study we waited 20mins and then she eventually returned with some menus, asked us what we would like to drink, vodka martini for the wife, and a pint of lager for myself, 30mins we waited, still sat in the study, with no music, just silence, it was my wifes birthday aswell, we literally just stood up and walked out and ended up eating at our hotel, abysmal service, how this place is in business is unbelievable

My partner and I have spent an afternoon at the hotel, enjoying a delicious vegan and gluten free afternoon tea, the very possibility of which had drawn us to the hotel, as well as a dinner in celebration of my birthday. The restaurant's two rosettes are undoubtedly amply deserved. We have had a highly enjoyable culinary experience and we really commend the chef for his ability to offer such confidently designed and executed vegan/gf food. This, coupled with a personnel both warm and attentive, as well as an elegant decor, has contributed to an experience that was nothing short of unforgettable. I certainly was in for a birthday treat! Once again, my heartfelt thanks to Jane, Amanda, Ffion, Magda and Maestro Andrew. Please do not change a thing. I intend to visit again in future ;-). More...

Fun fact: the queen stored her jewels in the basement of this house behind a big safe door during the second world war. The rooms are lovely. We slept very well. But the breakfast is something else. As you can see on the picture it has been the BEST (Welsh) breakfast I have had. Everything is superb quality and cooked by a professional. Booked a room last minute, locally marathon was on and also half term so most properties were booked up, in hindsight this hotel being avaialbe should have been an indicator. Arrived and went through hotel check in procedure, which entailed the receptionist explaining the menu for the resteraunt and picking out things she would have which I found a hard sell but also strange- nobody staying in a hotel needs an 'example'. The room was not clean and the shower was terribly weak, as in hardly any pressure, which when you have been in the cold and rain all day was disappointing. Upon trying to discuss this with the receptionist she was very dismissive. I therefore requested to speak with the manager. Manager arrives a while later at the room and instantly on the defence of the hotel, telling me if I'm not happy to leave as she only likes happy guests. Tried to have an adult conversation saying I appreciate the rooms were full (they were not there was a suite and I had no intention of paying 300 plus nor was I hinting at an upgrade, just a decent shower and a towel without holes in it. Manager was passive aggressive and in the end told us to leave! Ive travelled the world and (I'm glad to say) I have never been asked or told to leave the hotel. This managers attitude is appealing for working in the service industry. Checked out and went to a lovely B and B (of which there are many lovely ones, as regular visitors to the area, only couldn't get in anywhere locally because of the aforementioned marathon and half term. When I tried to say I would leave but we have nowhere to go (I had tried to search somewhere whilst waiting for her- nothing) she disagreed and said there was plenty even when I told her there was no avaialblilty anywhere locally. Ended up driving about 15 miles away to get somewhere. Also, not breakfast 'yes it is included' is left outside your room in the morning- bit like a prison! On a bad experience don't always review, just write it off, but the level of her rudeness and passive aggressive behaviour was awful, most unwelcoming, that I feel compelled to at least let others know. We have visited this hotel on a number of occasions passing through on our way to Snowdonia, it is a beautiful country house but I thought needed the TLC of someone who was going to put there all into it . Moving on 12 months we called in again on Sunday , WOW what a transformation! Absolutely stunning . We sat in the new patio dining where they are now serving seafood and meat tapas the menu was to die for as were the views , The attention to detail that has gone into this stunning new look is 1st class everything spotless and brand new . The owner Jane was talking to us about her task and we could see she clearly loves her work there she should be very proud of what she has achieved with her hotel (so far ) yes there’s more updating to come . We had a Sunday lunch which was beef , it was the most tender piece of meat I have ever eaten out of the many restaurants we have eaten in on our travels . We didn’t have a pudding as we were so full but we will be back for one as they looked delicious This hotel has become one of our favourite places in North wales to visit.Since being taken over by this new owner she has put new life and character that it had so lost in my opinion Thank you Jane and Amanda for our time spent at your home , we definitely will be returning again and again to this gem of a place .
