Went for my birthday dinner. Had the Osso Bucco. The meat was so tender that it literally fell off of the bone. The pasta was perfectly prepared. My wife's "Sinatra's Pollo al Vesuvio" was beautifully prepared and presented, with the garlic mashed potatoes and spinach. The service was impeccable. Fast, friendly, and very knowledgeable. Provided that there is absolutely nothing Italian about this place (honestly, it would be high time for Italian-Americans to own their tradition as being different from that of the motherland), as an actual Italian I had zero expectations. When work told us we were going to an Italian restaurant I feared the worst. However, keeping in mind that this is NOT Italian food, the results were quite good. We had fried mozzarella with what they called agnolotti (I'd call them tortelloni, but still), osso buco with fettuccine and cheesecake I believe. Room for improvement: the mozzarella used for the starters was quite low quality and rubbery; the bone in the osso buco should be cut shorter, as it it difficult to fish out the bone marrow (alternative: provide tools); my osso buco meat was a bit charred on one end; the lighting is ridiculously low, it feels like eating in a strip club; less overbearing service please. I went with a friend on the 25th & 26th of October so I could listen to Pia Zadora for my birthday. The food was extraordinary, ambience perfect and staff went out of their way not only to attend to us but to treat us as VIP's. We just flew in from ny and a friend told us we HAD to go to PIERO'S... we both ordered the veal with prosuite and mozz. The waiter suggested we split it and get a pasta..so we got the bolognese.
