Bought a few sandwiches to take away for lunch.  The dude behind the counter crisped them up in one of those panini presses.  When he handed them over, the toasted bread & charcuterie aromas made me chomp into them there&then.  With the wonderful, crusty bread, delicious meats, & a flavorful, whole-grain mustard, it was one of the tastiest thing I ate in Vancouver Island. Excellent place to pick up absolutely delicious sandwiches made fresh in store! The "yes, please" tasting board also makes a great snack for the afternoon. The place is clean and the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about their products. My only complaint is the experience with purchasing. Paying with card, they prompt on screen and ask you for a tip which to me seems very inappropriate and left a bad taste in my mouth. It is not a restaurant and I shouldn't have to feel guilted into paying a tip for an already agreed upon price nor should I have to worry about whether the owner pays their employees fairly. I don't want to sound harsh, but it is a bit insulting and worse, it makes me second guess if this is a business I want to support if I suspect that they don't pay their employees properly. I recommend either they increase their prices so I don't feel pressured to do the bosses job of paying their staff or remove offensive prompts from their payment software and elect instead for a tipping jar should a customer feel compelled on their own accord to give a tip.6/5 food. 2/5 customer experience. Tina has the best meats in town and around. I dream consistently of sweet caccitorini, silky smoked duck sausage, lacy bits of nutty prosciutto. Fiery Nduja and near-transparent bressola- if I could marry the meats, I would. We stopped by just to check it out. They have great meats and cheeses for a charcuterie. And they make up a sandwich of the day, which was terrific! Going back today to get another - you can then cross the street and take the sandwich into the Tofino brewery, and have a flight of beers or a pint for $5 to wash it down with.  It doesn't get much better than that.  Cheers! Tina is the best!  So friendly and talented.  My wife and I were in Tofino over the holidays and stopped in to grab some snacks.  We ended up hanging out for almost an hour chatting about life and buying a variety of meats, olives and cheese.  We love supporting people that love what they do and Tina's passion for her craft came through in every bite.  Do yourself a favor and stop in to Picnic, you won't be disappointed.
