Piacere is the hidden jewel of San Carlos.The new chef has really stepped it up. BravoWe had three courses. They also have an extensive wine list. My husband and I had a customized chopped salad with chicken, the salad dressing was so amazing  & refreshing, it was fabulous.The clams were delicious, the broth was so rich. Came here with a Groupon for an early lunch with my son. Service was attentive and we were attended to by several people, probably owing to the fact that at first there was hardly anyone in the restaurant at 11 am. By noon when we left it was quite busy, but our waiter expertly boxed and bagged the leftovers, which I appreciated. The shrimp risotto was excellent with both large prawns and plump rock shrimp and my son really enjoyed his burger. We both loved our Fritto Misto appetizer. Calamari is tough to pull off well- it can get tough even over fried. This was perfect and tender and rock shrimp was a nice addition and the batter was light so that we could taste the fresh seafood - my son was munching appreciatively on the lemon and fennel, which I told him were mostly a garnish. I've wanted to try Piacere for the longest time but never had the opportunity to actually come by. Recently, I purchased a Groupon for a $30 lunch credit for 2 and decided to finally pay a visit to this restaurant. We arrived around 2 pm on a Sunday afternoon and they presented us with a brunch menu (which also counts as lunch for your Groupon in case you're wondering.) If you were in the mood for brunch food, they have egg dishes and some sweet treats like lemon ricotta pancakes to choose from. However, I was in the mood to try one of their pasta dishes and got the linguine with clams while my husband got the spring pea tagliatelle. Both of us were extremely impressed with our dishes. My linguine was super creamy and the clams were nicely flavored in a garlic buttery sauce and it was extremely easy to finish off the entire dish. Paired with my glass of Viognier, it made for the perfect meal as we sat outside on a sunny day watching the people walking by on Laurel. We wanted to keep the good meal going and decided to get the arborio rice pudding to share for desert. This was absolutely AMAZING and I'm still thinking about this dish to the day. It was made with coconut milk and rum pineapple and was a tasty treat that entertained all parts of the palate without being overly heavy or sweet. Frose? Did you say Frose? Yes they have a Frose machine! If you don't know what Frose is let me explain- Frozen Rose. That's right- it's a Rose Slushee. It's amazing. I went here for brunch today and the food and service did not disappoint!  Our server, Tan, was super attentive and accommodating even though he was new to the job and tried his hardest to ensure the best service possible.  I highly recommend this place for a girls brunch as it is not as crowded as the restaurant across the street so you'll guarantee to get the best service possible while enjoying great food and service. Absolutely love Piacere and eat lunch there whenever we can. The beet salad with shrimp or meet balls is my favorite. Most of all I like the welcome on returning from Iris and her team. If I order food to go they offer me a glass if iced water while I wait.Iris goes out of her way to make our visit pleasurable.Plenty of outdoor seating on Laurel Ave to kick back and relax while eating delicious food. We went there for a date night and had the chance to get a great table in the window. We ordered the chicken parmesan and the Atlantic salmon dishes and both were fantastic. The service was quick and multiple times different members of the management team came over to check on us. Even the bread served warm with an olive oil vinaigrette that was delicious. It's a beautiful day and our plan was to drive to Half Moon Bay for lunch.  When we got close to the turnoff, the traffic was at a standstill, so we picked Piacere in San Carlos at random.  We were not disappointed!  From the service to the food, we had no complaints.  My husband is a vegetarian and our waiter made a couple of recommendations to him and offered to hold back meat in a couple of dishes if he ordered them.  My husband had the Huevos Rancheros and he said it was delicious.  I had a ham and cheese panini, with a side salad, which was perfect for me.  It also came with soup - I'm not a big soup eater, but I tasted the soup of the day, which was eggplant (not my favorite veggie, but it actually tasted very good!  Our waiter was Paul and he was so refreshing - none of that canned "my pleasure" or "no problem".  The busser working with him was also very good.  My husband drinks a lot of coffee and the busser seemed to keep an eye on his coffee cup and kept it refilled!  Definitely look forward to going back! We celebrated St. Patrick's Day 2019 at Piacere with traditional Guiness, corned Beef Hash, mushroom risotto, pappardelle bolognese, roasted beets salad, and spinach omelet with a Pear Martini. Our outside table was delightfully like a Roma cafe on such a green day.Our serve Paul M. Was pleasant, professional and prompt. Been here several times over the years but finally getting a chance to write a review. Have been here for small parties on the side room and it's a nice intimate atmosphere. Have also sat outside for lunch. I love their sunday brunch with their bottomless mimosas. Makes for a fun sunday, especially if the farmers market is going on, it's great for people watching. They have an updated menu since I was there over a year ago. The food was lovely. They had a new waiter who knew nothing about the food (had to ask someone else every time we had a question) and seemed to not be comfortable being a waiter. In my opinion the best restaurant in Bay Área.Been there 30 years OMG !I was there Saturday evening and I tried couple dishes. If you like live music with good food, nothing beats this place in the neighborhood.  Grab a table by the bar and enjoy food food with an amazing performance. If Sweet Talk is playing, you are in luck.
