My husband Rick and I had the most comprehensive tours imaginable thanks to the incredible careful planning by Cornish man Chris Barnard and his lovely wife Carolyn. Not only did the Barnard's furnish a customized packet of information for us to get the most out of our first time to Cornwall but they made sure we walked in the footsteps of Poldark sites including an extraordinary experience going down into a mine with
Mining Engineer, Dr. Keith Russ. Chris's expert talks on all the multiple sites was most informative and amazing! A true professional, Chris's quick wit and delivery make a long trip short. The Barnard's showed such care of all of us on tour so that we were well fed at historic pubs, too, even providing bottled water on tours. Another huge bonus was Chris capturing every splendid moment with his magic camera. The pictures are OUTSTANDING. Chris and Carolyn Barnard made my first trip to Cornwall magical! The tours they led were extraordinarily informative, well-planned, organized, and comprehensive! We literally walked in the footsteps of Ross and Demelza Poldark. We visited Holywell Bay, St. Agnes Head, Gunwalloe, Dollar Cove, and Porthgwarra just on day one. We went to the Levant Mine and had a phenomenal Beam Engine Tour. Under the expert guidance of Dr. Keith Russ we toured the Botallack Mines. A visit to Penberth Cove was also on the agenda. We drove to the tiny hamlet of Demelza as well. Charlestown Harbor was fascinating. We followed the footsteps of Ross and Demelza, and Verity and Captain Blamey! We were lucky enough to see the Nampara of the 1970's Poldark and the Nampara of the present series. We then went to 3 way Minions and had a grand time.
Chris and Carolyn took us to the most wonderful restaurants for lunch! We ate at the
Hazelphron Inn, Queens Arms Botallack, and at the Pier House Hotel! The food was extraordinary! Chris and Carolyn are marvelous guides. Chris also took the most fantastic photographs!
