What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
To me, the secret to a great photograph is authenticity. No matter how good your composition, if the posing looks forced, your photo will fall short of greatness. Wherever possible, I try to avoid strictly posing my clients, and try to guide them into positions that look and feel natural for them.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
I may ask you to make me a 'mood board' so to speak; a collection of photos that you like or that speak to you in some way. This will help me see what types of photographs appeal to you so I can aim to take similarly styled photos during your shoot or event.
What do you love most about your job?
I love the thought of being able to capture something so fleeting, and often so important, a single moment in time, that would otherwise be lost forever as quickly as it began. Human memory can be unreliable, and we're still a long way from time traveling Deloreans (probably), so the idea of being able to take a split second in time and save it forever...I think that's pretty cool.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I love photography. It was my hobby long before it was my business, and even once I started shooting professionally, it never felt like work. Having a job that doesn't feel like a job is a heck of a motivator to make things happen.
Why should our clients choose you?
A photo shoot with me is a walk in the park...literally! Most of my shoots are done outdoors. We'll wander around looking for fun and fabulous spots to take photos, and I'll guide you into poses that are natural, comfortable, and beautiful, without awkward forced positioning.
