Hello. Thank you for stopping by. My rate is £45.00 per hour-long session. A number of people on BARK have approached me for free counselling however I already provide discounted services via Anxiety UK. If you feel we could work together, then please send me an email if you would like to have a free chat before we book a session. Email: sheelaghward@protonmail.com or text 07891 593571. I'm finding BARK very unreliable at specifying who wants me to contact them (or not as the case may be) If you have time, please read the blog on my website about finding a reputable and trained online counsellor. Most therapists advertising on Bark are not trained to work online.

I practice solely online by secure video/email/chat message and phone. The choice is yours. I can help you with:
Anxiety and depression,
Social anxiety
Agoraphobia
Bereavement and grief
Carer support especially dementia
Stress
Trauma - both physical and mental, including armed forces
Domestic violence
Low self esteem
Workplace issues including bullying and redundancy
Relationship and family problems
Disability
Divorce
Lack of confidence
Loneliness
Chronic and debilitating illness such as ME and cancer
End of life situations
Coping with injury after an accident or medical negligence.

I'm very happy to have a free 15-20 minute telephone discussion with you, to discuss your needs and to see if we can work together. I'm an experienced therapist (practicing since 2001) and have been specifically trained to work online. I work for Anxiety UK, as one of their approved therapists, Dr Julian and a number of Employee Assistance Programmes (EAPs). I have over 40 years experience as a nurse, manager and general manager. Please have a look at my website for further details about me, my terms, the online counselling that I offer and my blog : https://phoenixcounselling.online

I contacted Sheelagh because I was feeling unable to cope with my husband’s Alzheimer’s and my changed relationship with him in my role now as his full time carer. Sheelagh has been my salvation and I recommend her highly.
She is so professional in her ability to listen attentively and give very sound advice. As a result of her help I am coping so much better with my situation.
I also value Sheelagh’s willingness to be flexible in her availability.
I am so pleased that I found her.

I would highly recommend Sheelagh to anyone seeking a caring, compassionate counsellor. Her calm manner and understanding of the issues I was facing made it easy to open up and make progress in a short amount of time. Online video counselling sessions with Phoenix Counselling were exactly what I was seeking and worked very well for me.

Phoenix Counselling Online Q&A

Company Q&A

What do you love most about your job?

Helping people move forward in a positive way with their lives.

What inspired you to start your own business?

Wanting to get away from the bureaucracy and rat race environment of working in large organisations and do something worthwhile, on a 1-1 basis with clients, as a therapist.

Why should our clients choose you?

Because I am experienced and well trained in working online. I am a member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and a director of ACTO (Association of Counsellors and Therapists Online) I support adults aged 18+ and provide a warm, caring and secure, safe environment for you to talk and be heard. As I’m not emotionally involved in your life I can give you a different perspective and really help you to understand what is going on for you. Together, we can explore what you need and how to get there. I can also help you develop new ways to cope with specific problems such as anxiety, depression, loss and trauma and help you move forward in your life in a positive way. Unlike many therapists, I have been trained to work online using video/chat/email and telephone. I work with Anxiety UK and Dr Julian online and also with a number of Employee Assistance Programmes nationally. My qualifications are:
RGN – (now non practicing)
Diploma in Nursing (DN)
Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (MCIPD)
M.A. Health Service Management. Victoria University of Manchester
Advanced Diploma in Counselling
BACP Certificate of Proficiency
General Certificate in Online Counselling (Pass with Distinction)
Modular Diploma in Online Counselling (in progress)
Diploma in CBT (In progress)
