What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
I don't really belive there is a secret to great photography, more that it is a combination of a number of factors. Firstly you need to have listened to your client and have understood what they are wanting to comunicate with your photography. Secondly you require a strong technical understanding of your craft that enables you to deliver consistant high quality images. Thirdly great inter-personal skills to get the very best from collegues and clients on set. With all those in place you can then bring all your creativity to any situation to get that great photo.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
Simple, what is it you need from these photos, what's the story? What are we looking to illustrate and communicate with these pictures? Once we know that then we can talk about the technical aspects, formats, file sizes, post production requirements, timings and budgets etc.
What do you love most about your job?
Getting the job done. Delivering a result that looks great, pleases my clients and helps them to push their business forward. Be it simple packshots, headshots etc or large complex projects I just love to get it done right.
