We haven’t used a pet sitting service before, we came across Petpals who can look after our cats whilst we are away on holiday. It all seemed pretty much self explanatory, you register your interest in booking services, you wait for it to be approved and then get issued with the invoice and accept whether you’d like to book. So we booked their services well in advance around 20th July for 2 weeks, 2 visits a day and stated how many animals it was in our notes, we got a confirmation that it was all good to go and to arrange a time for a face to face meet to meet the animals too. This was arranged for 26th of August and we go away on the 3rd of September - we had a call that day in the morning to find out that our services will be cancelled due to not able to look after 2 kittens as young as 6 months! Total of 2 cats and 2 kittens. The length of time this has taken for them to realise this and the unprofessionalism have let us down massively! Our animals have always been a priority and for us to feel that we have been left in the lurch to find someone to come and look after our pets at such a short time has made us worry so much. We were promised that they were going to help rectify the issue by finding someone else or another company to help with pet sitting but we have not heard anything back at all, it has taken us numerous times to call the office to speak with the manager and not managed to get through but was happy to email us instead. We felt that PetPals have been a massive let down despite the lack of communication, not paying attention to what we wanted and cancelling the services at such a short time. Brilliant service from Petpals coming to our house to look after our tortoise whilst we were away. Not only fed our pet but also brought the bins up and watered some of our houseplants - it’s the extra touches that would warrant 6 stars if that were an option! Fantastic

Having been let down by other cat visiting services we were a bit worried about trying another one. We were quickly able to relax about our 3 cats while away as Patricia did a wonderful job of seeing to their needs as well as giving them attention and taking care of things like bringing in some parcels left on our porch. We really enjoyed the little reports that came with each visit and the details reassured us. They've also been very flexible with dates, we were delayed coming home and needed an extra visit and that was taken care of immediately. They're always very responsive and have been very kind. Leaving our 18month Sprocker for the first time for 3 nights was a daunting prospect for us, but from the initial assessment visit with Sandra, through to the meet and greet and subsequent stay with Clare, we were delighted with the care and professionalism of the Petpals home boarding service. Our puppy (Purdey) had a wonderful stay, and we were kept informed and updated via messages and photographs. On our return, it was obvious that Purdey had not only coped with any separation anxiety, but had absolutely relished her lovely home-from-home. Sandra was able to accommodate Purdeys (raw-food) diet. The facilities were excellent with walks and secure fields to run in with a couple of boarding companions. We have used Petpals (Darlington) now for over 12 years for 2 dogs. We had previously had a bad experience at a kennels with our old dog and had only used family and friends since then. We were a bit wary about using a boarding company, and certainly didn’t need to be! We were overwhelmed at how thorough Petpals were at getting to know ourselves and our puppy. She had a fabulous time on her first Petpals staycation. The daily feedback we got was very reassuring as it was obvious to see how chilled and happy she was in her holiday home.
Our dog later went on to develop epilepsy and skin allergies and we felt absolute confidence in the expertise of her Petpals carers for her daily medication and if she were to become ill whilst staying with them.
Recently we got a new puppy who is a very different dog and can get overexcited easily, but Petpals have handled her every need with their usual professionalism.
We often now use the Petpals service for a walk for our dog if we are away for more than a few hours. We know we can rely on them with 100% confidence in their fantastic service.

I have been using Petpals in Darlington now for the past 6 months, I have a shy and nervous Cocker Spaniel (Charlie) who gets a little anxious when he is not with me ( and if I'm honest I do when away from him too).
I work away from home 2 weeks a month, so need Charlie to be cared for as if he was one of the family. Petpals Darlington understand the relationship I have with my dog, and are very good at managing the 'neediness' of the dog & owner!

The whole process from initial consultation to the meet and greet, to Charlie's first stay overnight put me at complete ease. Charlie really enjoys his stays, I know this as I get regular updates, with photos.

As I am self employed, I depend on Petpals alot, nothing is too much trouble. I try to give plenty of notice, which isn't always possible, a couple of times now I have had to make last minute changes, which the Petpals team have been more than happy to assist with 'Charlie Care'.

I cannot speak highly enough about the professionalism and great customer service that both Charlie & I receive from Petpals. I'm very happy to give my whole hearted recommendation to Petpals Darlington. More...

Petpals Darlington and Yarm are the only people that we would trust to look after our dog. We have used them for a few years now. We had a dog with a few health issues including diabetes on insulin and Sallyann took everything in her stride. Last year our older dog died less than 2 weeks before we went on holiday and our younger dog was missing him so badly that David slept downstairs with him.Well above the call of duty. The older dog had been reactive with other dogs but nowhere near as bad with Sallyann and David due to their experience I guess. If Sallyann and David couldn't look after Wilson we wouldn't go on holiday. We can go on holiday and relax knowing Wilson is in safe hands. I put my trust in Petpals to take my dog out twice a day, two days a week while I am working and they made it so easy. A very friendly chat on the phone, pop in to meet my dog and then they are ready to start taking your dog out without needing anything from you.

Not only do they suit your routine, they also offer other slots should you need any further support and cancellations for free - not something I have experienced with other places. I would highly recommend them all day every day. More...

Petpals Cardiff's Maxine Neal has again gone far more than the extra mile for my dog and myself - after my dog's prolonged stay away in kennels whilst I searched high and low for truely pet-friendly accommodation in the hardest rental market I have ever known. When Maxine arrived with my Rottweiler, she had literally thought of everything for my new situation in a new home... She thought all my difficulties through - we had a good chat - and made practical suggestions to ease my canine's needs. Terrible service from PetPals which I have passed on as a complaint. Dog boarding registration details not passed on (or ignored) by sitter, lack of communication and poor customer service. Sitter was supposed to be experienced but was clearly not able to cope with a nervous dog. They said they had a range of boarders on the books but sadly after one unsuccessful trial they simply cancelled my holiday booking saying they couldn’t help, even though it was 7 months away! They take your money even though they don’t have any borders available so it’s very misleading. I feel like an idiot for falling for it. We have been using Petpals Wokingham since he arrival of our energetic cavapoo, Bingley. Peter and his team offer a highly professional, friendly service and in a difficult year have risen to the challenges brought by Covid 19, maintaining the same quality service throughout. **Petpals Salisbury** : top class communication throughout. The house visit in advance was appreciated so I could see that Milo was welcoming towards Gillian (he is shy), and I had a good sense that she cared about my pet and I was leaving him in very good care. So reassuring to receive daily updates, pictures and a little video, and the log book was good to look back on. PetPals of Salisbury agreed to look after my Royal Python whilst my wife and i were on holiday for two weeks.It is appreciated that snakes are not 'usual' pets and do require specialist care, particularly with regards to maintaining their habitat. Jo and her Mum visited before we went and were initiated into reptile care. They did a great job while we were away, kept a visiting record and sent me regular SMS updates on progress.
