This review is based on a recent experience I had with Peterborough cars. Usually this company is very good however one taxi driver that is working for the company has let this company down.
I use this company every day and there is a number of regular drivers that I have great rapports with, they are polite efficient and understanding. The taxi driver that I had tonight was argumentative rude and had a disgusting attitude. I was appalled by the way in which he spoke to me. He was parked 3 doors down from where I live and claimed because he had been ringing my phone and I didn't answer he has cancelled the booking and I have held him up from picking other customers up!
If he had looked at the house numbers he would have realised he wasn't parked outside my house so what does he expect, I guess he thought I should wait out in the cold for him!
I said to him if I was holding you up why haven't you left already to which he didn't have an answer.
I called through to Peterborough cars and understandably was very frustrated in circumstances like this given previous customer service the correct way to de-escalate this would have been to show empathy and not accuse the customer, instead I was told that due to the driver having to wait for me for 10 minutes he cant take me even though I was stood at the car.. I said he was waiting 10 minutes due to being sat outside the wrong house, how is this my fault, I was l then informed I would need to make the booking again and wait for a car. Astonished I replied but the taxi is right here? and even if you are saying I was late you are in the wrong as he wasn't outside my house which you will be able to investigate using GPS.
The operator then told me I could get the taxi that was parked there after previously telling me I couldn't so I got in the taxi and on doing so the taxi driver proceeded to argue and be rude with me. At this point I said if you don't mind I am on the phone to your company and there is a way to rectify this I would appreciate it if you wasn't so rude right now, he continued so I got out the taxi as this is not what I expect from customer service.
I am very upset that this driver has ruined my experience with this company as In the past like I mentioned above I have been very satisfied. I believe this driver should be questioned on his behaviour to prevent this from happening to someone else. A colleague of mine said she had a similar experience and it's just sad as not all the drivers with this company are like this he is really letting them down.

We booked 2 taxis yesterday to pick up after an event at Burghley House, it was so busy with hundreds of cars trying to leave all at once and with different entrances. The first driver went in the opposite end to where we were but fought his way through staying on the phone to us to make sure he found us. The second one phoned us so we could direct him to where we were waiting. Our driver was really friendly & helpful. The prices are very fair, would only ever use Peterborough cars from now on. Amazing service today, I always use Peterborough cars but today I had a train at 2:26, after missing our bus we was stuck in Northborough at 2 with no way of getting the train on time, I rang Peterborough cars and they got a taxi all the way to Northborough within 5 minutes! Lovely driver got us there just on time! No problems and really lovely chatty service, and we even made our train! He even made the effort to drop us off at the most convenient place. Would definately recommend this company. I don't live locally in Peterborough but use them every time when in the area as they are really reasonably priced and reliable, especially for the 30 mins plus journey they make for us. Last night my partner left his phone in the taxi, I called not long after we had been dropped off home and they happily checked the car and found it! Very helpful and held on to his phone for us until I could get over to pick it up the next day. They even called to check I was aware they had it and remind me about picking it up! Thanks so much!! I left my handbag in a private hire yesterday without realising my handbag was on the seat. I noticed it when the driver was gone. I was panicking and did not know what to do as I had my passport and debit card in there. I contacted the office and was told that the handbag has been found, therefore I asked them if it could be delivered to my house and it was done without any extra costs. Our driver arrived a few minutes before the designated time. He assisted with our bags at the start and end of our journey.
He was well groomed and nicely dressed. The car was clean and comfortable
He didn’t converse with us much during the trip. I think he was concentrating on the busy morning traffic.

My Mum recommended Peterborough cars as she uses them regularly. I live in Norfolk and I had to collect my Mazda from Peterborough from another address locally.
We received a text confirming the pick up and another when the taxi had arrived. The driver was great, polite, friendly and approachable and he got me to the Mazda garage in time to collect my car for my drive back to Norfolk.
Very pleased.
However, couple of years ago I used Peterborough Cars and had been in town in Peterborough and was staying at Mum's and it was night. I had money but was short and asked the driver to drop me off along this point of the road and I said I would walk the rest (it was night). The driver said no and took me to Mum's door and I have never forgotten that. I would have been scared walking at night alone. So thank you to who ever you were. I told the driver that I would pay him the amount that was left when I get to my mums, but he said leave it. So pleased with this company.
